MKWii is one of my least favorites too. I despise the Wii Wheel control where you tilt the remote.

And I get anxiety on certain tracks, a feeling I wish I didn't have.

I got started with Mario Kart Wii, so it holds some nostalgia, but the controls are a little annoying and I don't remember being a fan of the item block set-up (although it's been close to a year now), but I had no problem with the game.
Of course this is completely my opinion, others may say otherwise.

As someone that had it as my first MK, i might be based, but it's my favourite in the ones i played.

A thing, for the commands, did y'all really used that thing supposed to help wich in reality just break all ? bc i recommend only using the Wii remote alone, it plays good imo and i have 0 problems.

The only problem in my opinon is the fact we can't choose between team battles and not teams and maybe sometimes the item sets does feels off (but i like to put aggressive mode for chaos and more mega mushroom anyway + trolling bots too).

Others than that, i'm not affected by more things normally

Even though it's my first Mario Kart, yes I found it to be one of the worst. First of, yes motion controls sucks in this game if you're using the wheel. It only works half of the time, and I'm not even exaggerating anything. If you're using the Classic Controller or GameCube you're basically forced to clawgrip for wheelies, so Nunchuk is the only viable option. Speaking of the controls, they are too complex if you actually want to be good (by the community's standards, at least), and everyone online with their flame runners, 9000+ VR and hours of mogi will have a pleasure to beat you up. Graphics-wise... it's worse than Double Dash. No more eyes on hills and vibrant colors. Welcome to the land of grayish graphics and, if you play CTs, tracks so dark that even with full brightness you'll think your TV is off. Item-wise, you'll be lucky to be blue shelled only once in a race. Do I need to explain more? Track-wise, nitros are a banger, except some flops like Moo Moo Meadows, but retros... ehhhhhhh... delfino square, dk mountain and waluigi stadium are good but the rest are just meh. So what about battle mode? Yeah it's crap. You're forced to standard karts/bikes. Balloon Battle is on a timer. Only Delfino Pier and Funky Stadium are good. Coin Runners is a cheap knock-off of Shine Runners, which itself was a cheap knock-off of Shine Thief. It's teams only... yeah describing battle mode really feels like beating a dead horse.

I've been asked this question so much, it's time to turn it into a topic.

(Incoming rant, just a heads up.)

Hoo boy, Mario Kart Wii. I H A T E this game. Not the worst game in the series, but every time I play it, I want to quit after 30-45 minutes. Thankfully, I didn't buy this game, I actually got it for free from my cousin.

Look, I get it, some people say this is the best Mario Kart game. Some people love this game. I don't, it's not my favorite, get over it.

I know, it has some of the greatest tracks in Mario Kart history, some of them my favorite tracks of all time, including Coconut Mall, DK Summit, and Maple Treeway. But there's just SO many issues with this game. Here's my philosophy: A game can have the best levels ever, but if the controls are terrible, it's no fun.

The controls, in my opinion, are the worst controls in the series. And yes, I had manual drift on. The way you throw items is just so odd and uncomfortable, and same goes for drifting. Oh, and we haven't even gotten to the worst problem yet.

The item distribution is just so awful. I have been hit with red shells, lightning, POW blocks (terrible item by the way), and a blue shell at the same time. While programming the distribution, they must've really been in a rush to get home that day.

Also, the retro tracks are mediocre. There's some good ones in there like DK Mountain and Waluigi Stadium, but that's it.

Also also, the way to unlock some characters and karts is just way too difficult.

Alright, rant over. So, what do you think about this "great" game?

Those are some good points, but this is 2nd best MK game for me! Also, why didn't you include DS Delfino Square in the 'good retros' section? Also also, you should try playing it with Automatic drift and see if it changes your opinion on the controls. Also also also, why didn't you put Rainbow Road or Bowser's Castle in the section where you said some tracks were the best in the series? Personally I love this game.

POW blocks (terrible item by the way)

Unpopular opinion: I like the POW block. Let me explain:

1: It's like the Shock, except it doesn't shrink players and it only affects those infront of the user. So, it's less OP. This makes it a Shock varient that can be pulled in the mid spots, but also doesn't throw off the item balance. It's important to have mid spot items be useful but not OP. (Mushies, Reds, and Pow Blocks are good examples of this)

2: It prevents item-hoggers: In other MKs, you can just smuggle a star into 1st way too easily, but in MKWii, this doesn't work because a POW block makes you lose your item. Sure, shocks do the same, BUT

3: It's predictable: POWs take a few seconds after used to do damage. This makes them less rage-inducing as the shocks, because the shocks can instantly vaporise your powerful items, but POWs give you warnings so you can use your power item before it's too late, at a tradeoff for you not using your power item (like stars and bullets) at an oppurtune time.

4: It only affects front spots: The shock affects everyone, screwing over 12th place, but POWs only affect those in front of the POW user, allowing the back spots to catch up.

5: POWs don't work in air: Shocks can be infuriating when you get Target Shocked, but with POWs, this doesn't work because you dodge it in air. Combined with the delay before a POW activates after being used, this makes it much harder -but still possible- to target shock.

Well, I think Mario Kart Wii is the good moderate game. It is 4th on list to best to worst (or worst to best) for me.

MKDD's shortcuts are large better, and MK7 shortcuts too. MK7 has best tracks, MK8DX has the best tracks in the series, but MKWii has something for me.

This is my fisrt Mario Kart Game (and Mario Game). Before this, I don't play Mario, but play to this to an birthday, I LIKE IT SINCE THIS.

I'm sad cuz I can't have CTGP-R, but MKWii is cool. But I have one impression : This game is more able to ragequit cuz on MK8DX the things on MKWii don't apply to me.

Well, I Guess I end

Nah, I'm kidding. (Kind of).
I really enjoyed it, but I can see why some people don't like it. I wouldn't consider it the worst in any way, however.

Motion controls are a non-issue at best, since they are optional and every Wii comes with a nunchuck. They suck but an alternative is easy to come by.

Why is getting Rosalina so hard?

Rosalina can be unlocked in 3 different ways, being:
-Get at least 1 star in all mirror cups
-Play 4950 races
-Play 50 races and have a Super Mario Galaxy save file present on your Wii.
The third method is how I personally unlocked her when I was younger. To my surprise, Ebay has copies of Galaxy for about $15-20, although I expect those prices to skyrocket in the coming years as the Wii nostalgia hype grows.

As someone that had it as my first MK, i might be based, but it's my favourite in the ones i played.

Funnily enough it was the first I played too, but apparently I don't have much nostalgia for this game despite remembering more details on my first time playing than any sane man should remember. (The date was July 24 2009, I was playing on Yoshi Falls, and I was using Wario in the Wario Bike in Vs. Mode, 50cc).
I do still have a lot of good memories playing Mario Kart Wii, specifically I remember during summer 2013 just grinding out online for something like 2 hours every night while listening to the however many songs that were on my iPod Touch (which has since been lost to time, I couldn't tell you specifics, but it was mostly whatever was on top charts that I happened to like).
I do look upon those nights fondly, as a time of innocence and happiness. Wiimmfi just isn't the same...

Speaking of the controls, they are too complex if you actually want to be good (by the community's standards, at least), and everyone online with their flame runners, 9000+ VR and hours of mogi will have a pleasure to beat you up.

I've said this before, but the controls have pretty much fully transitioned from the slipperiness of the first 4 karts to a stiffer and less complex control scheme. It's certainly the least input-heavy kart up to this point by virtue of removing manually-charged MTs.
Optimal combinations you'll be seeing a lot because it's optimal, Funky Kong/Flame Runner has just been pretty much ingrained in the minds of pop culture to the point of parody because it's so prevalent. Had the first 4 karts had online in any capacity, we would be memeing those combinations too.

Graphics-wise... it's worse than Double Dash. No more eyes on hills and vibrant colors. Welcome to the land of grayish graphics and, if you play CTs, tracks so dark that even with full brightness you'll think your TV is off.

Mario Kart Wii's got a weird plasticky feel to it, not nearly as prevalent to Double Dash but it's still certainly there. The downgraded graphics were apparently for online optimization but I don't remember Nintendo's servers being too great back then. Probably just Nintendo not bothering to optimize shit because they can get away with that, considering that this is the second best-selling Mario game of all time (for now anyways, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't too far behind).

Uh.. actually I don't? I would say I'm decent at the game. If I'm bad at something, I don't say it's trash. If I was terrible at Paper Mario, I wouldn't say the game sucks.

Also, thanks for reviving this topic after 10 days of no replies just to tell me I suck.
