No because there is no way you can beat it. It doesn't test anyone's skill, it allows the creator to get a free 20pts.

Also I updated rule 4 because I forgot to mention something

Hello Everyone ^^
I hope you are all doing well,

Recently, the Validator Team have had a few complaints about the rejection of some challenges. They seem to not understand why we make the decisions that we do, but I assure you that we don't reject any to piss anyone off. In our opinions, there is always something that isn't optimized to be a published challenge, and here are some reasons why they may be rejected.

1 - INAPPROPRIATE CHALLENGES
If a challenge has a name or idea that contains swearing, insults, NSFW content... (basically anything bad), it will be rejected. We don't really get this much which is good.

2 - GENUINELY IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGES
Some challenges are deliberately made to not be beaten by anyone, even people with the highest skill or even TAS if it was to exist in MKPC. (ex. Complete the track in less than 3 seconds) We see this as a way to get free challenge points and potentially rig the system.

3 - SPAM OF CHALLENGES
Basically, do not make a ton of challenges. I know this sounds strange coming from me since I originally created 38 on Bathaniel Nandy, but this can also be a way of gaining a lot of challenge points. (obviously my intention wasn't to rig the system though, otherwise I wouldn't be validator :p )

4 - RIDICULOUSLY EASY CHALLENGES
When a challenge is too easy, it no longer becomes a "challenge". It's more of a task and requires little to no skill at all. (ex Complete the Track) In this example there is nothing to increase the difficulty of the challenge, so this defeats the whole purpose of making a challenge. (obviously if the course is hard then it's an exception) For these type of challenges to be accepted you need to add some conditions that make the gameplay a little harder and more interesting.

5 - ZONES WITH NO HINTS
When you are told to reach a zone but there is nothing to guide you, no skill is involved, everything is pretty much just pure luck and hope. It can also be a way to gain points effortlessly.

6 - REPETITIVE CHALLENGES
When challenges are too similar it gets stupid. An example is:
Complete the track in less than 52 seconds
Complete the track in less than 51 seconds
Complete the track in less than 50 seconds
As you can see there is very little variation, and allows you to beat a bunch of challenges easily.

7 - SECRETS FOR SPEED
If you add invisible shortcuts or ways to become faster to get a better time for a challenge, then it's cheating.

8 - UNPUBLISHED CIRCUITS CAN'T HAVE CHALLENGES
Some people have been releasing challenges without the circuit being published. The problem with this is that the creator, who is anonymous, will manipulate the track after release and gain free challenge points. Because we don't know who created the challenge, the person will be more likely to exploit this. This is why circuits must be published first.

9 - FAKE DIFFICULTIES
Please don't think you can get away with deliberately requesting a fake difficulty. (ex. Requesting a Challenge to be Impossible when it is actually Easy) This gets super annoying for the validators to edit, and also reduces your credibility for future challenges. Obviously, it can be unintentional when the difficulty change is small, in which case you're fine. This rule mainly applies to those who think they can exploit the Challenge Point system.

10 - STOLEN TRACKS CAN'T HAVE CHALLENGES
If you steal another person's course without their permission, you are breaking the rules. Not only should you not deserve to have any challenges on it but it should be deleted. If the image was made by another person and permission was in fact given, then challenges will be allowed.

These are pretty much the reasons why we reject challenges. (I may update this in future) Don't assume we do it because we hate you or because we are dumb. We are all human and we will make mistakes every now and then, but you have nothing to worry about if you follow these guidelines. Occasionally the game may bug and automatically manipulate the challenge, so that may be another reason.

If a challenge does happen to be rejected, PLEASE READ THE FEEDBACK before you try to re-upload it. This is another common issue the validators have to deal with, and is quite annoying when we have to reject the same challenge because the creator didn't fix the addressed problems.

Also, please don't get salty if we reject a challenge because we are just trying to do our jobs.

If you want, follow the topic in case you ever need to come back to this.

Goodbye ^^

Original message slightly corrected by Wal68.

I have a lot of old circuits, so I'll stick to anything 2022 onwards since there's no point talking about those.

Favorite track made
🥇 Christmas Land 3
This might be somewhat cheating since it's not your conventional track but I do still consider this my biggest achievement. The concept of exploring an 'open world' to find clues, then using those clues for a slightly randomised code, followed by a range of obstacles including the shell rebound to open a new path, all made for a pretty cool experience that I'm glad was well received by the community.
🥈 ToxGP2 Wintrk7 Sands
I made this for the CTGP-PC-BG Desert TBC and I was happy with the result. I do think this is the most fun course I've made so far, and is supposedly currently one of the better tracks in that multicup.
🥉 NS2 Crown City 1
Naturally being a MKWorld remake this is gonna have some recency bias, but Crown City was the perfect excuse for me to hide a bunch of easter eggs on the image. Even though I spent 24 hours total, I had a lot of fun making this one.

Least favorite track made
🥇 Mario Kart 3 (O) - Peach's Kingdom (Remake)
You know when you try too hard and it just doesn't end up how you want it? Yea this is a pretty bad remake tbh.
🥈 ToxGP2 WhiteLatte Falls
I have worse tracks for sure, but this is one where I know I could've done better because it's pretty underwhelming. The gameplay standard wasn't too high at the time but it doesn't hold up too well anymore imo. Hopefully will be the weakest track of ToxGP2.
🥉 Wii Mario Circuit
Track is just boring for MKPC (and maybe in general) so not much I can do about this one. I considered N64 LR but that had a good Advent Calendar challenge.

Highest rated track
🥇 NS2 Crown City 1 (⭐4.92/5 from 39)
MKWorld track that's gonna feature in the MKWorld PC Project is gonna get a lot of attention, especially being one of the earlier tracks.
🥈 GCN Wario Colosseum (⭐5/5 from 30)
A lot of people would've played on this for the Advent Calendar, also a hard track to remake so I think people appreciated this one.
🥉 Aerial Ruins (⭐5/5 from 27)
For the time this track released, this was arguably one of the best tracks on the site.

I have higher rated tracks but they're from before 2022.

Lowest rated track
🥇 SNES Ghost Valley DX (⭐5/5 from 3)
It kinda just exists.
🥈 SNES Vanilla Lake DX (⭐5/5 from 5)
It kinda just exists again.
🥈 ToxGP1 Hoppingicon's Choco Summit (⭐5/5 from 5)
This one just probably didn't get much attention because it's better than some of the other stuff I've released.

Again, I have lower rated tracks but they're from before 2022.

Best track (based on other people's opinions)
🥇 ToxGP2 YoshiCrafter Glacier
Going by the general feedback from CTGP-PC-BG multicup and this does seem to be my strongest track there. I suppose it's just fun in online mode.

Not gonna force people to play all my tracks to get an opinion for the rest.

Worst track (based on other people's opinions)
🥇 Mario Kart 3 (O) - Peach's Kingdom (Remake)
Fways basically said it was mid at the time and I agree.

Not gonna force people again.

Most average track
Honestly 'average' could be anything so it's probably just some slop retro like DS YF or Wii MC.

First track I ever made
Toad Circuit
Only track here from before 2022 but this IS my first track so...

Last track I made
Nintendo Song Quiz
This was made purely for the Advent Calendar and so I'm not sure if it really counts, otherwise my most recent proper track is ToxGP2 Onesome Treeway.

Addressing the Forum Situation

Messages 1108 - Golden Mario Golden Mario

Australia
If you've used the forum recently you'll know it's a bit problematic and for various reasons, and unfortunately it has been like this for a while now. A few days ago, Graf_Pigouni posted his thoughts on this topic and it's gotten people talking, and rightfully so. Rather than replying in that topic only to have the message buried on a random page and missed by people, I'll be sharing my thoughts and what will be happening soon to mitigate this here.

The Problem(s):

Competitive talking. I don't understand why people are so obsessed with increasing their message count because it's really stupid. Kids get a shot of dopamine seeing that number go up and then go off topic by celebrating a message milestone. Quite frankly, nobody cares and it gets annoying really quick. I've lost track of how many times people have been told to not have conversations on the report topic, only for more conversations to happen a few days later (there's a reason we only want reports there, it makes moderating the site easier since we don't need to filter slop, help us help you!).

It's clear that the message counter has fueled posts containing unimportant slop and has led to the creation of random topics that should just go on Space for Anything. I don't think anyone would be surprised with the fact that people are spending more time on the forums than the actual game (holy shit did you guys realise the MK in MKPC stands for Mario Kart meaning there's a game attached to the site?!).

Oh and for those who think I broke the rules by saying the 'shit' word in the sentence above, you haven't read the rules, which also happens to be another problem contributing to the forum slop. Easy solution would be to just read it, idk what you want me to tell you.

It doesn't help that most of the contributors to the problem are young, too young for social media so they come here instead. Now even though I personally think you shouldn't be allowed on social media at such a young age, I can't realistically enforce those bans, and I'm sure people would fake their age anyway.

Take some advice from a 20yo unc like me, you only get one childhood, so don't waste it here on the forums and go enjoy it.

What the community should do:

If people do break the rules on the forum, either use the report topic or the red report button in the top right corner of each message. Also, don't give any rule-breaking messages any attention because it will only make things worse. Use reactions where applicable instead of making a new post too.

PLAY THE GAME. There is so much love and effort put into the game, especially people who create custom tracks for others to enjoy. Even the lower-end courses are still made by people attempting to contribute to the site. Go and explore the courses out there and support creators who put a lot of time and care into their creations. I reckon some forum grinders don't know who RHcks is, and that's a red flag tbh.

Going outside is also a solid option.

What I will be doing as an admin:

I'll be pushing for some updated rules that should be easier for the community to read. Even though the current rules are admittedly a bit tricky to follow it IS still your responsibility to read and follow them. The rules exist for a reason and serve to keep the community safe and the mods will enforce them where necessary, but know the mods here are pretty chill and lenient with people and we don't make unfair decisions. Hopefully this limits the amount of people who get confused or those who don't understand that mild swearing is actually allowed.

I will also be purging the report topic next week, meaning every post there will be deleted. Some of you will notice that your message counts will drop (boo hoo), as it should since it's not a place to chat or get that number going up. I'm also expecting the new report topic to not have any irrelevant messages.

TLDR:
You should probably actually read this but quick recap:
- Make sure you read and follow the rules
- Competitive talking is bad
- Message count is useless and NOT an achievement
- Don't respond to rule-breaking messages and use the report options
- Play the game including custom tracks

Have a good day. ;)

Apologies for the lack of activity lately, haven't had too much of a chance to look at this (and also I forgot because I'm stupid).

Few project updates:
- Wii Moo Moo Meadows by RHcks and N64 Choco Mountain by hoppingicon have been accepted
- N64 Wario Stadium by neptunogamer has been added to the Chopping Block

To check out these tracks, look at the 2nd post of the topic. Thanks to everyone who is getting behind the project. ;)

Sorry for the late reply again, I had problems trying to access MKPC for a week and wasn't bothered checking everything for a bit.

Nario85 wrote:

Because I sent the final version with rails and jump fixed

Unfortunately, the track isn't accepted, although it's not bad and is one of the better submissions here. The track is a little over-scaled being about 40 seconds per lap with 100+px wide road at times, which for a track with several long straights just becomes extremely boring to play (even if it is a retro). It also lacks quite a lot of detail and textures to make it visually interesting, especially in the OOB sections. I don't think the lines you drew on the dirt road are a good idea either, though I can appreciate that you put effort into these, a simpler dirt texture with some shading may have been better. Again, not a bad remake though it could be improved a lot. Keep it up. ;)

(also a nitpick but the dirt shortcut in the bottom left doesn't exist in your remake)

ok so i am going to redo airship fortress as it was very flawed

I saw the remake briefly. The blue aesthetic is not in the MKWorld remake at all (and since we want faithful recreations it wouldn't have been accepted anyway).

Has anyone claimed Koopa Troopa Beach yet? If not could I try to make it?

Claimed or not, you're still allowed to remake and submit the track. The first post of the topic explains how this works and the second post shows the track list with the accepted tracks. For KTB, coolmonkey's version is currently accepted, and the link to the track is on that post too.

also @bowserjr03 have you checked out the updated version of peach beach as it is much better

Hey sorry for the late reply. I do agree that it's much better, although it's still not enough for a full accept. A few easy fixes would be to seriously nerf that "glider" ramp at the beginning of S3 because it just doesn't play well in MKPC at all (although faithful recreations are what we ask for, these small gameplay changes are definitely preferred).

Visually, I think it could use some shading to make it look more "3D", especially in S2 because it looks really flat and somewhat hard to tell what is what. You may want to look at how other tracks use shadows for ideas, because that subtle detail not only helps keep the track interesting to look at, but makes some of the collisions (walls in your case) easier to understand. For example, a shadow under that purple road gives the impression that it is elevated above the grey road.

GBA Yoshi Desert by Coolioaziz is a good example of this (have a look at the pyramid as it's the closest thing to what you should add). Your track is mostly fine, but shading would bring it to a whole new level. Some other areas you may want to consider are the buildings, fences and OOB grass. Not far off at all though. ;)

@bowserjr03 I have a question for you. Are you planning on adding the Crown City Time Trials version to the multi-cup?

Yes most likely in the bonus cup, but someone has to make it first, and this track is really hard to make (for reference I spent 20 hours just on CC1, and the TT version would have an image size over double this size). Might be a long time before someone does decide to make it.

You could just make a multi cup that’s basically like free roam but all the courses are separated but still takes up less space(what I mean by that is that all the courses are like free roam where you get to explore the image)

This might be a bit pointless, and also would require everyone who does have a track in the project to create another version and probably spend more time extending their image (which may not even work in some cases). But also if the tracks are separated then it's not exactly free roam either, so I can't imagine people wanting to play these tbh.

Question: are we gonna make crown cities 1, 2, 3, and the full changing track?

CC1 is already made and can be found on the track list (2nd post), and CC2 will also be featured once a suitable version of that is made. Either CC3 or CCFull will feature in the bonus cup once that gets figured out.

What if for the GPs you just had the intermissions connecting the tracks there. For Example, instead of doing all of MBC's intermissions, you just had MBC go to CC1.

Also, if it'd be easier, the intermissions could be their own race. This would mean that the mushroom cup would be Bros. Circuit, MBC to Crown City, Crown City, Crown City to Whistlestop, Whistlestop to DK Spaceport, then finally DK Spaceport itself.

Not only do intermissions take significantly longer to make due to both their size and the fact that you have to make the actual track + the route + a bit of the starting track, they're also pretty unrewarding to play. There's far less of an incentive to create these since people won't really be playing them, and most of these courses have at least 10+ hours put into them already. The main 32 will just be the 3-lap races, which is also what most people who play MKWorld actually prefer. I won't stop people from making their own intermissions if they want to but it will most likely not feature because I can't imagine people would want to make a high quality intermission let alone all of the GP ones.

do you plan to make the open world of mkworld in mkpc ????

Most likely not. Image sizes across the tracks aren't even, it be a massive pain in the ass to program and optimising it will be absolutely awful. I can also see the full image being like 300MB+ so it would probably be terrible to play too.

Wdym by bonus tracks?

There are some extra tracks that don't feature in the main cups such as a third variant of Crown City and another track the community calls "Daisy's Palace". There are also some extra SNES tributes on the world map such as the Ghost Valleys that could definitely be used for the bonus cup despite not being properly playable in World.
