I have seen people with names such as NL_ and MOYAI dominating the leaderboard. What do they mean?

Hello KirbyLand. So NL means Night Life and MOYAI means MOYAI team. They are for the MKO Pro League created by Urban. I participated in his league and joined Night Life so you will have the NL tag behind your name if you joined that team. Same for MOYAI, GX (Galactic Harmony) and FK (Funky's District) You can participate anytime until the end of the pro league but you need discord to join the server and you need to be over 13 years old to use discord.

I tried to do the world records strategy on Ghost Valley 2 but its crazy and i only managed to get 70th out of 150 tries

As Ahmad explained earlier, these are known are "tags" and are used represent your rattachment to an official competitive team.
There are two kinds of competitive teams on MKPC.
First, you have the competitive teams in official tracks, competing in the MKPC Pro League, created by me in early 2020, and have played 2 seasons since it's creation. Following the end of the MK(O) Pro League's season, this league will come back in the upcoming weeks!
During season 2, the teams where:
Elite Squad (ES), Senko Nation (SN), Celestial Guardians (CG), Upgrade (UP) and Red Bull Racing (RBR).
And second, you have the competitive teams in custom tracks, competing in the MK(O) Pro League, and managed by Urban. The season we got to see recently was the opening one.
Notice that since both leagues plays in alternance, you can switch up teams! You can play for one official tracks team, then one custom tracks team in alternance!

Simple answer is, a lot of practise, and one of the NL members spends way too much time playing this game.
I used to have the GX tag and was 1st for over a year.
