What are your least favorite Mario games?

I played it at my friends house and it was really fun. Not usually a fan of strategy games, but I liked this one. Call Of Duty ain't got nothing on this game...

Okay then, answer's obvious. Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Simply put, London 2012 is my second-favourite game of all time and was my favourite at the time. It had everything I ever wanted, so why would you take a step back from that in every direction?

The sports are boring compared to the previous games, the character roster hadn't improved at all and the stat system was dumbed down to just 3 stats instead of 4, and the stats didn't even change slightly depending on the sport. You also had to unlock characters in the fun and brand new game mode, Tournament! Literally playing the same boring sport over and over until you got a decent win streak was the only way to unlock characters, and there were only 3 to get. WHY?

Then there's the controls. UNPOPULAR OPINION INCOMING: I liked the motion controls in London, they made the game feel more realistic, so having them stripped away and having every sport come down to button mashing was a terrible idea (That they fixed in Tokyo by letting you choose).

Then there's the unlockable content, which adds nothing to the game. You just play sports, go somewhere else and hope and pray you get something you want. Yes it was the same in London but with the scratch cards there was a 100% chance you'd get something new. Not here.

Oh, and this game also had a "unique" game mode, Heroes' Showdown. Literally just normal games but you can't use a character after you lose.

Biggest problem I have with the game though? No dream events. The thing that set these games apart, gone and replaced with "duel" events, which are the exact same but with items. And there's only a duel event for Football, Volleyball and Rugby Sevens. Overall, there's nothing here. 10 regular events and 3 duel events. Every game prior had at least 20, with London providing over 40. Is less than a third of that the best you could do?

However, what puts it as my least favourite ever is how it almost killed the series. When 2017 rolled around I was waiting for news on the Korean Winter Olympics, and of course the M&S game that would accompany it. Nothing. There was no 2018 and the only reason I could think of was that Rio did so poorly. Had it not been for the next one being held in their home country, my favourite video game series was OVER. FOR GOOD. Rio de Janeiro, I love you but whenever I think about you I can only think of the disappointment that is this game.

Mario's time machine, Mario is missing, and Mario's early years are my 3 least favorite.

There was no online until Mario Kart DS

Sorry, I just needed to get my feelings about the game off my chest.

I don't hate Mario games in particular but here are a few: (P.S:These games aren't in order)

1.Mario Tennis OPEN, this (old) game is one of the most passive games of the series, no main missions, no objectives except to unlock the secret characters, and in 2020 you have no one online on this game anymore, in short it is a dead game.

2.Mario Party : Island Tour: I used to like the game a lot, but with a little hindsight it is different, the game is REPETITIVE,the "bowser's castle" mode is nice the first time around, but boring afterwarth,  and the game itself does not reward you by giving you "points" to unlock items that accumulate for nothing , and it's not seven board games (one of which is unplayable if you don't have friends) and 80 mini-games that will change all that. Average game .

3.Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga (and the remake):to be honest, this is THE game that I could easily have not put in my ranking but otherwise it would not make a top 3 because I like too many mario and luigi games. In fact this game, its ONLY flaw, is the POST-GAME. It's simple, there is nothing, no side quest! If you have finished the game, you cannot face any boss again, except the one at the end.Compared to Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam which had a place where you could face all the bosses and secret missions at the cost of a fairly short adventure (it's just an example) it's a bit average.

despite this, the game is cool, nicer than the previous games. Especially with the side quest: Bowser's minions that they added with the remake which is almost worth the game itself, which is why I'm not too mean with this game

honorable mentions: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team

I think every Mario Kart 64 track is good

Thats ok, everyone has their opinion. Personally I find the tracks long and bland.

Super Mario Land 1 (2 is good)
All the NSMB Games other than the original
Paper Mario: TTYD (don't kill me)
Mario Party 8 and 9
All the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance Mario Sports Games
lastly, Mario tennis: Ultra Smash.
