For the Switch 2, it's mostly just long-time Nintendo fans realising that Nintendo is a company and they only see their IPs as marketable products; as for other consoles, it's mostly bias. There's also the fact that entertainment is a pretty subjective thing so nobody has the exact same opinions on everything lol

At first I thought this topic was kinda stupid but after I saw that y'all were actually respectful about each other's opinions, here's my thoughts as someone who's been around roughly since the peak of the Wii and DS.
In terms of how much "spirit" either console has, the Wii U quite clearly wins for me. The Switch feels more like a product than an experience, and even from an industrial perspective that's a rather shitty move (Nintendo works in entertainment, so I'd expect at least some heart put into even a console's home screen).
Even in terms of games, maybe there's some nostalgia bias here but I generally prefer Wii U games. I never really saw the appeal of Odyssey (hot take, bash me all you like, it's one of my least favourite 3D Mario games), and the Switch mostly consists of ports, I wouldn't even call them remakes because they've barely added anything new (take NSMBU DX, for example). Obviously I'd expect some ports and I'd probably buy them because I have enough money to spare to buy quite a few games, but the Switch kind of made it clear that Nintendo don't really see games as anything but products (look at what happened to the Miis before Living The Dream was announced, not the best example I know, and at least Nintendo isn't using generative AI to take away what little soul their games have left before they're just lifeless IPs, but yeah).
I mean of course Nintendo's a company and of course they're going to commercialise everything, that's how industry works, but it's certainly having an impact on how much I enjoy their newer games and consoles. So, for me, the Wii U wins.

Okay I barely interact with people on SFA who keep treating the forums as a group chat even AFTER Invu's warning, but this is getting ridiculous. It's barely been a day since the warning and most of you still haven't listened. Heck, mere hours afterwards, I see two people using SFA to argue about Toadette's spritework đź’€
May I reiterate: The forums are NOT a group chat. You can't just say anything and everything that comes to your mind. This includes messages that only contain one word or sentence, keyboard smashes and useless arguments. The forums are supposed to be treated as such, this isn't Twitter or YouTube.
Please start treating the forums properly, they're enjoyable for everyone when they're not used for random message farming.
Speaking of, please don't police others for message farming, just alert the mods. MKPC has a private messaging feature for that, please don't randomly ping the mods because you'd also be contributing to the message farming (there's also a report button that appears on forum messages).
Sorry to be so negative, just please consider what I'm saying.

Mario Kart World, the new mario kart game (duh)
is definitely one of the worst. It is the lightest game in the series (In tracks compared to 8 deluxe) and it's just overwhelming with the amount of new character costumes and new characters - LIKE MR CRABS FROM SHY GUY BEACH!!
I think that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the better game by far, with Mario Kart Wii being a close second.
Any objections??

*cough cough* wow you're wrong. MKWorld is BY FAR the best YET.
1. the soundtrack. its just banging
2. tracks. sure there are 30, but those tracks are some of if not the best the could've chose to remake/the new tracks are amazing. call me crazy but Koopa Troopa Beach is honestly fun. same with Desert Hills.
3. the characters. sure some characters like funky Kong and peatey piranha aren't here, but who cares about peatey and funky is honestly mid. and also, F**KING BIDDYBUD. AND CONKDOR. HELL EVEN COIN COFFER.
4. the side-modes. okay battle is... kinda terrible, but KNOCKOUT TOUR IS INSANE. and there's the open world, its fine, I wouldn't normally pick it but sometimes I do just cause. but back to knockout, the concept is great, going across the world and each track the bottom 4 get killed and the last 4 race on 1 final track. and it uses intermissions very well (I'll get to those in a second)
5. intermissions. yes, call me absolutely INSANE. but I like intermissions. the concept is done very well and sure there are a lotta straight lines, they can be very fun with the high amount of racers.
and finally, 6. tricks. just look at the world records to see how good these are, especially Whistlestop Summit, Wario Stadium, Shy Guy Bazaar, Airship Fortress, DK Pass, and Bowser's Castle.
so uhh yea MKWorld is by far the best in the series, and no one is changing my mind. and yes, @Ivnahl, you were right, I did have some opinions...
Your opinion isn't gospel fyi, though I do think the hate MK World is getting is a bit much
Personally I'm not too big a fan of the new characters though you are kind of right about Funky Kong and Petey Piranha essentially being fanservice (you just pray this doesn't happen to Moo Moo, because my God it seems that way)
The soundtrack is definitely good, there are a few misses imho but mostly it's good, certainly a step up for the series especially from Mario Kart 8 using the same soundfont for like half of the OST
Also be careful praising Koopa Beach and Desert Hills, some MK World fans are quite... ardent about that, same goes for praising intermissions
Sidenote @DinglDongl I think you're forgetting SMK and MK64 by saying MK World is the lightest

College is starting for me today so I'll be even less active, but I'll still pop up from time to time to post some things, like stuff I make in the Game Design course I'm taking, teasers for my upcoming projects or new fanfic episodes for TKL and BTA.

Sorry to say but I'll be leaving.
I have like ten or so projects on hold just because I've been procrastinating heavily, and frankly, MKPC isn't helping any (the affiliated community is also a huge issue because of the incentive to message farm, and their maturity levels are piss poor, but that's not important). I'll still pop up from time to time to post new Chapters for my two fanfics (Before The Apocalypse and The Koopa Life) but I'd prefer to pursue more ambitious creative projects like developing actual games (speaking of, I'm going to post a multicup as a demo of a kart racing game I have planned in the near future, so watch out for that too).
I'll probably end up making a topic to dump all the itch.io links for when my projects release, which will be the last topic I ever post on MKPC. As for my fanfics, I'll be continuing them elsewhere after the first seasons of each have been published.
So yeah, it's been a good run, but I think it's about time it ended. See ya !
