Vro why is Dengue Fever just awesome

Hey guys I found O**'s favourite song
By context, O** most likely means Orientation. Please do not call me that, instead call me Hoco. Just to clarify that HOT TO GO! is not my favorite song.
I associate artificial intelligence with getting pissy about Chappell Roan songs and treating a nickname like it's a deadname

What is your biggest phobia?
Monophobia, the fear of loneliness and the thought that being alone is dangerous (ok it's not to the point that I can't do anything myself but it still frightens me when I'm alone for long periods of time)
I don't have any fears aside from that and acrophobia (the fear of heights, which makes no sense when you consider I've climbed a mountain and have lived near them before)

Please... just don't do AI.

Since when does AI waste water? How does it waste water
So AI has to be accessible to everyone globally and answer questions, give feedback or ideas across several topics. It cannot do this on its own, so it needs lots and lots of data from Non-AI sources to build up its understanding. Since there's a lot of stuff to remember across several topics, it's simply too much data to store on a simple hard drive, so companies have to build AI data centres, which you can imagine as buildings with loads and loads of servers just storing data.
When coming up with responses, AI relies on this data so to use it the servers have to do a bit of work, which uses up power. The power being supplied to these servers heat them up, but that heat has to actually go somewhere else it'll just melt the components.
There are 2 main ways they've considered to cool down these servers:
Power: The reason this doesn't work very well is because it's already very expensive, given how much power they're also using to keep the servers running
Water: Companies are using this as a cheaper alternative, because it can cool down the servers. They aren't pouring the water onto them (that would be dumb
) but the water takes in some of the heat and it causes the water to evaporate. The water in your day to day life isn't pure H2O, because that would be pretty much impossible. There's a bunch of minerals in there too, but it's only the H2O that evaporates. This is an issue because as more of the water evaporates, the remaining water becomes more and more concentrated with these minerals that can actually damage the components inside. So this water has to be replaced with more clean drinking water, and that's why and where all our water is going

I wish AI dont exist in the first place to save our waters.
I used AI for 1 year, im kind of worried i wasted lots of water

AI is fucking up the climate but it doesn't randomly create weather patterns, plus data centres aren't the only factor in global warming and climate change
Yeah AI sucks ass but that's just plain misinformation

i fucking hate AI. it's such a problem. i mean, it wastes water, our main source of everythign if you think about it. firstly, it's just not accurate, it gets stuff off of bad sources, and it goes fast. you know, faster research, worse results. slower research, better results!! but... people think: faster = better advertisement, while it's absolute slop. even if AI was slower, it still kills our water stuff. i mean, i've seen so much AI ads, like base44, websites in 30 seconds with one prompt!!! no... no... NO!!!
own people's things are better than some stupid computer. in fact AI just learns and copies from other people, which when we research, we just learn and copy from others, right? so basically, we give a computer, stupider than us (and that's stupid) work that we can do, and ITS NOT EVEN ACCURATE!!!! plus, some stupid things i think AI is doing, making images, which, why? what? a poster? make it yourself! people are giving someone a job that doesn't even doing it right! it's like telling a 5 year old to make the mona lisa. (holy shit that's exactly what it is...)
or just don't use Siri, Alexa, or whatever.
basically, AI is making the world slowly end, and you can help it! whether you're limiting it or stopping it entirely, that's good! every tiny good thing is a big good thing! also, don't support AI, or you're uncultured.

you can avoid it by simply adding "-ai" to google if you don't want to drain the entire ocean for one question. or you can just not ask chadGPT to give you a banana on fire
or just don't use Siri, Alexa, or whatever.summary for lazy peeps

you should specify it being GENERATIVE ai. you're welcome!
also i agree

Don't do vegetables, stay in drugs and eat your school... oh and don't do AI either
Ok on a more serious note, AI is actually a much larger issue than a lot of people like to imagine.
AI taking over? That's already happened somewhere (COUGH COUGH Britain) where the surveillance cameras now use AI for facial detection, which is terrible when you realise that algorithmic bias is a thing and people are being wrongly discriminated and punished for things that they very clearly did not do. A huge part of judicial work has literally been automated away and it goes through minimal human review so in court they could just say "we caught you on CCTV" even though any human with functioning eyesight can see the obvious discrepancies.
AI stealing artists' jobs? Doesn't take a genius to see where that's happened. I study game design at my college and already games, websites and graphics have been automated thanks to these AI "tools" which in reality require minimal human input. Even image resizing isn't reliable anymore, a lot of them use AI to resize images which is pretty bad as an artist when you need to rescale things! Same thing applies for recolouring and adding post-processing effects, which you might be thinking isn't bad on its own but it takes away so much of the human-made elements and makes them look machine-generated.
I could really go on about how AI is used for plagiarism, campaigning, medical screening, pushing hateful rhetoric and more, each of which have their own set of issues (and I could go on about how bad AI is for the environment in general) but I think the two points I raised are the ones that most people don't see as an issue as much as they really should imo
P.S. AI isn't "just a tool," tools are supposed to make a workflow more manageable, not outsource a sizeable portion of it to a dubious-at-best machine. It's like doing a group project and asking your parents to do most of the work for you instead of collaborating with your workmates or researching on the internet

Uh...is this topic dead?
this topic was unnecessary and was only really made for spam tbh (idk why people still do that like the message ranks were literally removed months ago there's zero incentive to spam now)
VRO, not everything is spam and I am tired of people saying it is! Your just mad because other people are succeeding and you don't have to bring people down because of it! You @#$%!!!
Why don't you just be respectful? Even if it's something you personally don't agree with, you should still treat people with respect (given they're not being horrible to you specifically). Respect is universal
Hazel I would love to agree with you but we are currently using the world wide web. The internet was never built on respect and no matter how hard you try, you can't win on a place like this...
I mean you were the one being disrespectful but Okay Man I Guess 😶

I started my second year of college two days back and it's been pretty good! It was nice getting to meet my friends again and I got my first design brief of the year (which counts towards 16.6% of my overall grade but oh well at least I don't need to do too much until January)
I also got my timetable and I only have to attend for 16 hours a week (3 half days + 1 full day, and I get Wednesdays off)

I thought it would be fun if I put together a state Survey for anyone who lives in the US like me.
Basically anyone who lives in the US can share what state they live in (no need to share city, and if you are uncomfortable sharing this kind of info, you don't have to).
I kinda just wanted to see how many people live in different states. I live in California, so that's 1 person in CA. Feel free sharing the state you live in, again, you don't have to if you don't feel comfortable.
I'll update it as people comment
