Why are there no walls in the SNES Bowser's castle tracks? there should be walls but i'm able to just pass through straight into lava. This is not how it is in the original SMK.
Is this intentional?

Hello, likewise, it's quite frustrating because you don't know that the first time; I hope they'll fix it.

Similarly, the yellow ramps in GBA Rainbow Road don't work; I don't know if this is intentional or not, but it's quite weird.

That's very obnoxious, especially as a SMK fan. I hope this is fixed because it really makes me want to avoid these tracks in an otherwise very fun version of the game!

I also just realized that in SNES Donut Plains 2, i'm unable to fall in the water at all. It acts as rough terrain and slows me down, but the fact that you can drive over the water just ruins the map for me.

It is intentional because it would ruin Time Trial records for both 150cc and 200cc if they were added, therefore it will never get added.

I hope the change GBA rainbow road to make the yellow ramps work (Other tracks that have yellow ramps but useless/gone now include Cheese land, Cheep Cheep island*, Sunset Wilds,Yoshi desert and Lakeside Park)

That makes no sense, I think accurate maps should be prioritized. The devs could easily just make new ACCURATE versions and keep the current inferior maps as "legacy" versions that have all the current Time trial records.

The game will not receive base track updates, so there's no point in complaining about something that was made years ago because it's not exactly like smk. Plus, if you were a competitive player, you'd probably understand why this version is actually better due to techs in the game.

Trust me, I completely understand and completely disagree.

Accuracy aside, I should not be able to drive over water in this game. It completely removes distinctive challenges in multiple maps (such as the bridge gaps in Donut Plains 3),and creates massive skips in other maps.

The lack of walls in Bowser's castle makes it unnecessarily hard for any casual players (who are equally important as competitive players) .

I believe my criticism is valid whether they are willing to change anything or not.

Otherwise, this game is freaking awesome.

It does create massive skips, sure, but that's not necessarily just a bad thing. There are shortcuts that are possible in certain maps that make the game more fun because of this feature. You could argue the absence of those other quirks creates a worse experience, or you could argue that it creates a better one, but the game hasn't degraded necessarily, just become different. It's not a quality issue at all in my opinion.

No i totally get where u are coming from and I even agree, I guess it really comes down to why you are playing.

I played this game hoping i could play SMK online with a few new mechanics, items, characters, and maps, and I was disappointed to see that the maps had been messed with in seemingly strange ways.

Inversely i can see why this would be more fun for people who are trying to play competitively and maximize their speed with drift boosts and crazy skips and such.

I just personally don't want to play on maps that have content removed.
Thank goodness for custom maps since that is really the main draw for me now that i'm aware of this aspect of the game.

Also i'm really a fan of how this thread has been civil and informational to me, very rare thing to see on the internet these days.

MKPC is more of its own game than a exact reacreation of smk or anything, and tracks are always a bit different between games, so I don't think its that bad that tracks arnt quite the same.

A lot of this community is very solid and supportive in regards to the game. Like how you're glad of people being respectful to you, I'm glad that you were respectful to me. It's refreshing to hear arguments that not only make sense but also express the idea of objectivity being different from subjectivity. I think if you plan on continuing with the community, look into competitive. It's a great way to learn as you progress, not even just in your skill at the game, but also track design as well.

Yes, it's a real shame, especially in Time Trials, imagine the number of crazy ghosts you can get with that.

In GBA Yoshi Desert, you are also unable to fall into the water and the "pyramid" should be able to be traversed, like in the original game.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer this decision. As a competitive TTer, it gives more room for strategies and in some cases, it saves the track from being just unfun. MKPC was never supposed to be a faithful recreation and I prefer it to stay that way.

What's really a shame is that the yellow ramps in GBA Rainbow Road don't work; it's a shame, we could have had more interesting ghosts to beat.
