As a QM enthusiast, what are your grounds for creating a good track? I think Woo could use some pointers on good game design, although in general the presence of your opinion is helpful as well.
OT:How can I make a good track when the style is PIPE???
A good start is graduation from QM. There's not enough options in QM. If you're a QM genius, you'll be able to make a very entertaining, exciting, and elaborately competitive track. But until that's displayed, to me, all QM tracks are the same tier besides some of the ones that actually have reasoning for their simplicity.
What is a QM track?
Track made in Quick Mode. They tend to be worse than Complete Mode tracks.

QM, well to be completely honest, I just start making a layout in the SNES MC theme, then go through every theme to see which fits best, then I add the decors to the track in spots that I feel work well, I add the items, similar thought process there, and then I publish the track.
so basically I try not to go to crazy, but not to simple. (unlike some other QM tracks I see)
although in some rare cases, going a bit crazy can lead to a better track
What about game design philosophy? Do you take into account what makes a track good when creating it? Do you think from the player's perspective, asking questions like "What does the player want?" or "Why is this fun?"?

Fair enough. Tone is lost in text, so it must be inferred. Responding to your comment below, there is something that you should take into account, called "player input". It is basically the practice of paying attention to what people who play your tracks say about them, and what you should improve on, what they liked, didn't like, etc. This is not to discredit your own opinion, but getting multiple viewpoints broadens your perspective on making (a) good track(s).
In Luigi Pipeway on 2025-11-12 at 22:33:39The track isn't good and you shouldn't deflect criticism from people who are trying to give you chances to make it better. You will fail as a track creator this way, or any creator for that matter.
In Luigi Pipeway on 2025-11-11 at 19:21:08Pipe is not a bad theme. No theme can be inherently "bad". You just have to make do with what you get. And if your output isn't as good as others, it's okay, you tried your best with a theme that didn't suit you as much. Giving up however, is entirely within your control, and this format is normally forbidden when it comes to contests BECAUSE it's so lackluster. No matter if you did or did not try, it looks like you didn't, and if you care, you'll come back at the task once more.
