Topics that either endorse spam or could really just be said on SFA
Imo topics really need to have a purpose, saying stuff like "I found a muntjac on the side of the Phnom Penh highway :3" doesn't and could really be said on SFA (of course, I also don't endorse being rude to people who have made useless topics, just tell them that it could be made on SFA and why that is, a lot of the community is much less egocentric than you'd like to believe)
Topics like "Post your personal projects here" don't fall under this category because they declutter SFA if you get what I mean, like they don't endorse spam and rather just make the forums more manageable

We have also lost YourLocalPenguin, AKA Chunk today actually (He just deleted his account). If Jade and Amber are planning on permanently leaving the site in a little while, how do we get new members to join? Only 2 members that joined in 2026 have exceeded 20,000 VR, which are Kinsley and Travis_XD15 (Blue Toad 211), so now the question is can we get more members to enjoy the game?
The issue isn't about attracting more members, it's about keeping them, and to do that there honestly needs to be huge changes to a lot of things

I started my second year of college two days back and it's been pretty good! It was nice getting to meet my friends again and I got my first design brief of the year (which counts towards 16.6% of my overall grade but oh well at least I don't need to do too much until January)
I also got my timetable and I only have to attend for 16 hours a week (3 half days + 1 full day, and I get Wednesdays off)

I think there's a few reasons for this:
> Majority of the playerbase is European so when you guys come online most of us are asleep lol
> There aren't very many good CTs to race on online, and the ones that are good often lag on low-end devices (vanilla is pretty shit as well)
> A lot of the older players with more experience have jobs and attend college or university (i.e. they have a life)
> People just prefer talking on the forums and arguing for some reason (sometimes it can get way out of hand tho holy shit

I'm trying to work on some CTs that will be fine to play on low-end devices that are also viable for online play to help this but you also have to consider that timezones exist and you can't expect activity 24/7

Since when does AI waste water? How does it waste water
So AI has to be accessible to everyone globally and answer questions, give feedback or ideas across several topics. It cannot do this on its own, so it needs lots and lots of data from Non-AI sources to build up its understanding. Since there's a lot of stuff to remember across several topics, it's simply too much data to store on a simple hard drive, so companies have to build AI data centres, which you can imagine as buildings with loads and loads of servers just storing data.
When coming up with responses, AI relies on this data so to use it the servers have to do a bit of work, which uses up power. The power being supplied to these servers heat them up, but that heat has to actually go somewhere else it'll just melt the components.
There are 2 main ways they've considered to cool down these servers:
Power: The reason this doesn't work very well is because it's already very expensive, given how much power they're also using to keep the servers running
Water: Companies are using this as a cheaper alternative, because it can cool down the servers. They aren't pouring the water onto them (that would be dumb
) but the water takes in some of the heat and it causes the water to evaporate.The water in your day to day life isn't pure H2O, because that would be pretty much impossible. There's a bunch of minerals in there too, but it's only the H2O that evaporates. This is an issue because as more of the water evaporates, the remaining water becomes more and more concentrated with these minerals that can actually damage the components inside. So this water has to be replaced with more clean drinking water, and that's why and where all our water is going

i fucking hate AI. it's such a problem. i mean, it wastes water, our main source of everythign if you think about it. firstly, it's just not accurate, it gets stuff off of bad sources, and it goes fast. you know, faster research, worse results. slower research, better results!! but... people think: faster = better advertisement, while it's absolute slop. even if AI was slower, it still kills our water stuff. i mean, i've seen so much AI ads, like base44, websites in 30 seconds with one prompt!!! no... no... NO!!! own people's things are better than some stupid computer. in fact AI just learns and copies from other people, which when we research, we just learn and copy from others, right? so basically, we give a computer, stupider than us (and that's stupid) work that we can do, and ITS NOT EVEN ACCURATE!!!! plus, some stupid things i think AI is doing, making images, which, why? what? a poster? make it yourself! people are giving someone a job that doesn't even doing it right! it's like telling a 5 year old to make the mona lisa. Ok on a more serious note, AI is actually a much larger issue than a lot of people like to imagine.
AI taking over? That's already happened somewhere (COUGH COUGH Britain) where the surveillance cameras now use AI for facial detection, which is terrible when you realise that algorithmic bias is a thing and people are being wrongly discriminated and punished for things that they very clearly did not do. A huge part of judicial work has literally been automated away and it goes through minimal human review so in court they could just say "we caught you on CCTV" even though any human with functioning eyesight can see the obvious discrepancies.
AI stealing artists' jobs? Doesn't take a genius to see where that's happened. I study game design at my college and already games, websites and graphics have been automated thanks to these AI "tools" which in reality require minimal human input. Even image resizing isn't reliable anymore, a lot of them use AI to resize images which is pretty bad as an artist when you need to rescale things! Same thing applies for recolouring and adding post-processing effects, which you might be thinking isn't bad on its own but it takes away so much of the human-made elements and makes them look machine-generated.
I could really go on about how AI is used for plagiarism, campaigning, medical screening, pushing hateful rhetoric and more, each of which have their own set of issues (and I could go on about how bad AI is for the environment in general) but I think the two points I raised are the ones that most people don't see as an issue as much as they really should imo
P.S. AI isn't "just a tool," tools are supposed to make a workflow more manageable, not outsource a sizeable portion of it to a dubious-at-best machine. It's like doing a group project and asking your parents to do most of the work for you instead of collaborating with your workmates or researching on the internet

Mario Kart Super Circuit:
Best: Bowser's Castle. Heavy metal Bowser music is ALWAYS GONNA BE A BANGER!
Worst: Boo Lake is just creepy. I know it's prob supposed to sound like that but I don't like it.

Best: Mario/Luigi Circuit/Royal Raceway. This is the song I immediately think of when I think MK64.

I know saying i was on the hate train, pretty stupid for that ik. Can the show can be annoying? Yes absolutely, but the topics tackled are actually pretty well done, I haven't seen many kids shows (especially in the demographic) tackle most of the topics shown in the top comment. But the racism, I absolutely do not support it in like social media and stuff, I am actually black irl, but I see why people might think its cringe, but they just say its cringe to get views ngl. I don't know anybody that actually watches the show so yeah.
Yeah I see this a lot even with shows aimed towards my sort of age group where it's just not representative of actual experiences and has a completely whitewashed cast with a lot of one-dimensional characters that conform to a staunchly rigid status quo (*cough cough* Bowser's Koopalings *cough cough*) and I seriously have to wonder why they can't just talk to their peers who are for example BIPOC or LGBTQ+ to better gauge how to include good examples of diversity in the show
Using Bowser's Koopalings as an example (idfk how they fumbled the bag this hard with diversity when the characters aren't even human but apparently it happened), there's one gay relationship in the entire show that is written to be quite clearly abusive as opposed to the many healthy straight relationships, there are maybe like one or two characters of a different species (Boos and Dry Bones don't even count because they're undead Koopas) and the one character with a different skin tone is Morton 💀
Don't even get me started on the women, I think this screenshot that oomf took says it all
So yeah I think it's really refreshing to see a show tackle these issues and call them out head-on when other shows are frankly too pusillanimous to even try (even if Karma's World does it in a less than conventional way)
