★ Challenge Creation Reminder ★
Hello everyone! It's me, Hazel. I am one of the Challenge Validators within the Validation Team, responsible for accepting, rejecting and modifying challenges so they fit Mario Kart PC without losing the original idea of the challenge.
Recently, while validating challenges, I've noticed many challenges that break some of the rules regarding challenge creation. Due to this, we unfortunately have to reject a bunch of challenges. We always give reasons as to why we may reject challenges, please read it!
A lot of challenges being rejected are often rejected for the same reasons, so I have decided to create this post to highlight some of these rules being broken the most frequently, so hopefully creators can see this and get their challenges accepted in the future! Please read the challenge creation rules if you haven't already, thank you!

★ Specific Rule Reminders ★
Additional Comments: This one thankfully isn't as much as an issue as the other ones I will mention, but sometimes we get a few tracks with like 10+ challenges pending for it with little variation to the challenges. Challenges like: "Complete the track with Mario" "Complete the track with Luigi" "Complete the track with Toad" ... all in the same track is repetitive and doesn't really add anything interesting either. The main reason we reject challenges breaking this rule is having so many similar/low-effort challenges for the sake of gaining challenge points.
Additional Comments: There are a lot of challenges that get rejected because of this, which is a shame since some of the challenges that get rejected for this reason actually has a lot of potential for an interesting challenge. This is most common in challenges around completing the track (with no extra conditions) and collecting item boxes/coins (with no extra conditions). All that needs to be done is to add some sort of constraint to make the challenge a bit harder, this can be as simple or as complex as you want! We reject any challenges that feel too easy for Easy difficulty (easy for beginners, but still failable to some capacity).
Additional Comments: There isn't much for me to say for this, as I have covered the main points in the first specific rule reminder. This is just "Spam of Challenges", but on a smaller scale. If a few challenges are similar to one another, we may edit the challenges to be different enough to feel unique or reject challenges that are too similar (3 similar challenges may turn into 2 rejected and 1 accepted for example).
★ Extra Tips And Info For Publishing Challenges ★
This section is for more niche tips for publishing challenges, that will make it easier for your challenges to get accepted. Although, if you have followed all the rules mentioned in the first post of this forum topic, you shouldn't have any issues.
1. Incomplete Challenges
What do I mean by "Incomplete Challenges"? There isn't really an official term for them as far as I am aware but they are challenges that are like: "Finish in the 1st position", and then does not have any extra conditions set. Don't worry, these challenges will likely get accepted if it is easy enough to see what the creator's intentions were when making the challenge. Although we may have to make some assumptions, which may not be what you wanted initially (these can be changed upon request!)
Let's start with a common example: "Finish the track in the 1st position".
This challenge is fine, but it can be improved upon further. So let's make some modifications to it. Please consider the following:
- What mode is it? (VS Mode/TT Mode)
- What engine class? (150cc, 200cc etc.)
- How many participants?
- What difficulty of CPUs?
- Any additional constrains would you like to add? (optional)
Specifying these constraints makes it easier to play the challenge right from the get-go and saves time for both the players and the validators. It also can help maintain the intended difficulty of the challenge.
Here's the improved version: "Finish the track in the 1st position, in VS Mode, in 150cc class, with 8 participants, in Difficult mode"
2. You Can Take Inspiration From Challenges You Enjoy!
There are a few hidden gems on Mario Kart PC that have a lot of interesting and creative challenges. I've seen battle mode arenas turned into custom boss fights (@Nodac64 makes some cool boss fights), tracks be used as mini obstacle courses using mechanics like rails, challenges be used as training tools and so much more. Challenges can be really simple or really complex, it's your choice! Let your creativity take over! We don't really have a particular order of what challenges we validate, but creating less tedious challenges will likely get your challenge validated faster. However, all challenges eventually get validated, no matter the type or difficulty, thank you for your patience.
3. Raw Skill Is Not The Only Factor For Difficulty
Suprisingly, raw skill is not the only factor that determines a challenge's difficulty. But rather focused on two main factors:
- The skill required to beat a challenge
- The length of the challenge itself
This means that you can have a fairly easy challenge, but if the length is longer than the average challenge on Mario Kart PC, that difficulty of your challenge may increase. This is very common among multicups, for example: CTGP-PC Deluxe has a challenge called "CTGP-PC Deluxe Marathon", which is rated Impossible difficulty. Not because a race itself is at the same difficulty as standard Impossible challenges, but rather because there are 40 gold cups in the challenge (160 tracks or about 5 hours of gameplay on average). This mainly applies to multi-cups but this tip also applies to tracks that are just really long.
The difficulty system is as follows:
Note: You do not have to worry about getting a challenge's difficulty completely perfect when publishing your challenge! We change the difficulty to what is suitable for the challenge upon accepting it.

I hope this served as a good reminder/guide on challenge creation, if you have any questions about challenges, please continue to ask them in this forum. Happy challenge creating!

3 - SPAM OF CHALLENGES
Basically, do not make a ton of challenges. I know this sounds strange coming from me since I originally created 38 on Bathaniel Nandy, but this can also be a way of gaining a lot of challenge points. (obviously my intention wasn't to rig the system though, otherwise I wouldn't be validator

4 - RIDICULOUSLY EASY CHALLENGES
When a challenge is too easy, it no longer becomes a "challenge". It's more of a task and requires little to no skill at all. (ex Complete the Track) In this example there is nothing to increase the difficulty of the challenge, so this defeats the whole purpose of making a challenge. (obviously if the course is hard then it's an exception) For these type of challenges to be accepted you need to add some conditions that make the gameplay a little harder and more interesting.

6 - REPETITIVE CHALLENGES
When challenges are too similar it gets stupid. An example is:
Complete the track in less than 52 seconds
Complete the track in less than 51 seconds
Complete the track in less than 50 seconds
As you can see there is very little variation, and allows you to beat a bunch of challenges easily.
