So, since 3D All Stars was announced two days ago, I decided to do this. I will be ranking all the mainline 3D Mario games. The only rule is that I won't be ranking Sunshine, because I have not played it. But, I will update this ranking once I get 3D All Stars. Also, every 3D Mario game is good. None of these are bad.
So without further ado,
6. Super Mario 3D Land
3D Land is a great game with the return of the Tanooki Leaf. The levels can range from mediocre to actually really good. One of the bad things about 3D Land is that it sometimes reuses levels, and just slaps a new background on them, which makes the game feel a tad bit rushed.
5. Super Mario 64
Before you start ranting on me, saying I hate SM64, I don't. I know it set the example of all 3D platformers, it's just that the graphics and textures haven't really aged well, which is one of it's biggest flaws. You can all say it's a video game masterpiece, and that's okay. I just don't think it is. So, let's just agree to disagree.
4. Super Mario 3D World
The better version of 3D Land, 3D World was a massive improvement. The cat suit is a great power-up and so is the Double Cherry. This game is one of the few games that my family actually enjoys playing. The levels are fun, the bosses are fun, and the final boss is fun. Nothing really bad I can say here.
3. Super Mario Galaxy
One of the only Wii games that holds the title of having actually good motion controls, Super Mario Galaxy is a great game. With it's gorgeous and stunning graphics to this day, Mario Galaxy really pushed the Wii to it's limits. My only complaint with this game is that around World 3-4 there's a weird difficulty spike.
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
The sequel somehow managed to be better than the original. This game decided to be more colorful than it's peer, and I'm okay with that. My only complaint is the same exact thing, there's a weird difficulty spike around World 3-4, c'mon Nintendo.
1. Super Mario Odyssey
Without a doubt in my mind, this is the best 3D Mario game. I honestly can't describe how joyful I was when I first played through the game. This game is easily the 64 of my generation. The costumes are a really cool touch, with alot of references to past Mario games. Jump Up Super Star may be one of the best video game music songs ever. I always return to this game at least once a month.
So, where do you rank these 3D Mario games? If you don't know, I check my topics often and see what people say, so please, share your opinion.

8. Galaxy 1
Yeah, I know, I'm going to get a lot of hate from this, but I never played this one, don't intend on doing so, and honestly like all the other games more than this one.
7. Galaxy 2
I also haven't played this one either, but from what I've seen this one is better.
6. 3D World
I don't really know what to say; I just think this game is pretty good.
5. 3D Land
I don't get why people hate this game. I think it has great level design, great controls, and is just good all around.
4. 64
Great game, revolutionary, fun. A classic.
3. Sunshine
Fun in the Sun. Water mechanics are cool, areas are great, even if almost all of them are beaches, and has great music.
2. Odyssey
Lots of things to do, has amazing controls, and is fun. I don't know how else to say that the game is good, other than saying, this game is really good.
1. 64 DS
Basically 64 Deluxe. It has 4 Characters, 150 Stars to collect, and surprisingly fun Minigames, such as Sort or 'Splode, or Picture Poker. I may just be blinded by Nostalgia, but this game is seriously good.

I didn't rank 64 DS because it's a remake and I've never played it. But if I did, I'd put it between 64 and 3D World.

My list: (not putting 3D land bc ive never played it and havent seen much, same with 64DS)
6. Super Mario 64
Game isnt bad, but imo its overrated. The music in it is good, but the problem I have with it is that half of the stars in it were terrible
Eg the ice maze thingy one, climbing the mountain in Tiny Huge island...
5. 3D World
While I like the idea of a stage with multiple missions rather than a linear one with a few secrets, I thought this game was a lot better. Maybe it is because of my experience playing it with my brothers, but I find this a lot more fun. But still it isnt the greatest game but still good.
4. Super Mario Sunshine
This game has those stages woth multiple missions I prefer, but there are some really stupid things I hate. Like the fact you die by falling off a small squid into the water a metre off reachable land. Also, some of the stages are ridiculously difficult, including towards the beginning of the game,
Eg the annoying sand bird, the twisty trials secret stage thing (its called twisty trials in smg2)
Otherwise, the ideas in this game were great
3. Super Mario Galaxy
This game was amazing, but there was one thing I hated. That was the galaxies with one star. I thought it was just a massive waste of a galaxy, as it was short and boring (flipswitch is barely a planet, and it is called a galaxy)
2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super mario galaxy but with better galaxies, and none of the 1 star garbage. Also it had Yawshi.
1. Super Mario Odyssey
This game sorta speaks for itself. It is big, it is fun, it is unique... I could go on forever.
