If you read the title you understand the question. As a series is pokemon good or bad?
My opinion:
In my opinion pokemon is a bad series as will be explained in other paragraphs.
Why it's a bad series:
Many reasons shared between most the games but for this I'm going to use sword/shield as an example.
Story:
The story of sword was underwhelming to say the least. Oh no, pokemon used to be big and business man is evil.
Most of the other games are just about some kid ending up fighting a cult, which is fairly boring.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is very simple and boring. The game is also too easy, which makes sense for a children's orientated game, but makes it boring to play through. The only way I would play is a nuzzlock, but even then I'm probably not going to because I find it to be boring.
Conclusion:
I prefer to play other games, if you like pokemon that's fine but I don't like to play it.
Also a real time strategy game is almost always better than turn based strategy game such as pokemon.

I think that Sword is a bad example, as it is one of the worst games in the series (according to most pokemon giganerds). I like the earlier games (I have crystal and I want to get sapphire) but maybe the new ones (XY, Sun, Moon, Scarlet, Violet) are OK, I haven't played many .

I seriously disagree with this (which is NOT because I grew up with this game (yes I know I'm literally still 11 lol)) and I think the DLC has great story as well. Speaking of which, DLC. I'm probably the minority here but I think, no matter what, DLC is a good thing for any game. I mean, look at MK8DX or Smash Ultimate's DLC. In my opinion, Sword/Shield's DLC is on par with those games and only enhances the great story from the base game.
I also think the turn based strategy part of the game was handled brilliantly. The moves all feel like they make a solid dent in the opposing Pokemon's HP, and the status moves all seriously enhance your own ability to win the battle. The progression in Sword is perfect imo, and my only issue is that for the final battle, with probably the most tense lead-up in the whole Pokemon series, Leon is surprisingly easy to beat. Also Bea is absolutely insanely difficult, fight me.
Overall, Pokemon is a great series imo and that's shown by the fact that I have every Pokemon game on Switch lol (except Scarlet and Shining Pearl but THOSE DON'T COUNT ALRIGHT)

There's this thing called competitive that helps with the "boring". Just saying.
But yes, Gens 1, 2, 4, 6, 7& 8 are all very bad, & you should not play any of these games ever, they suck. You are wasting money.
As explained by countless Youtubers, the game is not "simple", it is easy to play at entry level. When you actually look into it, it becomes more complex. Like chess. You can technically just go & play with your bro, but you actually wanna beat someone competent, you actually have to learn things. It isn't "simple" at all.
TLDR: FR/LG, R/S/E, Platinum, B/W/B2/W2, PLA & S/V are the good Pokemon games. Good enough to float the entire series? That's up to personal opinions.

I respect anyone's opinion, but I think the concept of Pokemon is fun and cute, sure I never got into it really and never could but it's a pretty good idea nonetheless, just that there's things like some games that could poorly execute the idea because of plot and such

As I mentioned, I've only played sword and crystal so I might not have a lot of experience with the franchise, but here are my opinions:
- The "simple" battle system works very well for a (mostly) portable game series.
- Wild pokemon battles can get tedious (I know there's an item called "repel", but I can't ever buy any as my bag is full).
- Legendary pokemon can be interesting, but it's annoying how you can't complete the pokedex without specific events (for example, I got my celebi with a event "GS ball" only in Japanese and virtual console versions of crystal).
- The multiplayer features are great, but can be annoying for lonely people (most people playing nowadays)
I think that pokemon as a concept is great, but some games in the series are better than others so you should be careful when choosing a game.
