Rating all Super Mario Galaxy 2 Galaxies

So I decided to do a rating of my own, this time for the galaxies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 (jeez it's been so long since I've played this game, this was literally my childhood (aside from absurdly not-age-appropriate SNES games (*cough cough* Romancing SaGa 2 *cough cough*)))
World 1
Sky Station Galaxy: Okay, lemme start by saying this for the galaxy: It's fine for a first level and has okay music ON THE SECOND MISSION. The first mission just reuses the title theme, a theme you're gonna hear a LOT MORE OF for the ENTIRE GAME. Also in my opinion, it provides a bit of a harsh challenge for newbies as compared to many other tutorial levels. The boss execution was also kind of ass and easy to cheese imo.
My rating: 2.5/5
My rating (boss): 3/5
Yoshi Star Galaxy: Okay, this is arguably one of the best galaxies in World 1. The upbeat music and phenomenal Yoshi's Island-esque theme really lighten up the mood. I love the introduction of Yoshi and the ability to aim Spinies to shoot them out of Yoshi's mouth, which works amazingly as a puzzle mechanic. My only real gripe (minor gripe, however) is that the boss and the boss theme don't really work in tandem.
My rating: 4.5/5
My rating (boss): 3.5/5
Spin-Dig Galaxy: Okay, the level itself is okay, I love the boss and music (especially the boss music) but the Spin Drill was a bit off for me. For starters, you had to be absolutely PRECISE with the angle and depth. It's easy to hit the same wall twice (or even worse, the boss' foot) all because the angle was off by a few degrees.
My rating (level): 3.5/5
My rating (boss): 4/5
Fluffy Bluff Galaxy: You simply cannot go wrong with this galaxy. The music and atmosphere are spectacular, the cloud and tree motifs are beautiful, the level itself is just bliss.
My rating: 5/5
Flip-Swap Galaxy: ...Ewww. What was this galaxy? The music didn't belong, the Chain Chomps were ick, the entire level mechanic was just there so you didn't die... no. The motifs were also horribly mismatched and made no sense. Bad secret level, that's all I gotta say.
My rating: 1/5
Rightside Down Galaxy: Not as bad as the previous, but still kept the same kinds of problems. However, the atmosphere and music were much better, yet the same can't be said for the addition of Thwomps.
My rating: 2/5
Bowser Jr.'s FieryTortilla Flotilla: Okay, a bit of a hot take maybe, but I LOVE this galaxy. It fits almost perfectly for a final level of World 1. There are plenty of secrets and the level execution was great. My only real gripe was the boss; like what are you doing fighting a Chinese/Japanese dragon in a freakin' BOWSER JR. LEVEL?! That aside, the boss itself was okay, however I did find it gross that you had to pop its boils to kill it.
My rating (level): 4.5/5
My rating (boss): 4/5
My rating overall for World 1: 4/5
I will rate the other galaxies at a later date

World 2
Puzzle Plank Galaxy: Okay, maybe a little biased/a hot take, but I love the Irish folk/Bluegrass music in the background. The level itself is also very fun, making use of one of Mario's mechanics for once, and for progression rather than survival, which is always a neat touch. I also like the amount of stuff that was revived from the first Galaxy game, including ONE of the bosses, the secret boss Bugaboom. The fight still had the same arena, which was a bit of a bummer and was also kinda easier with the newly added Cloud Flower imo. The main boss, the Mandibug Stack, was just a less annoying version of the miniboss from the first Galaxy game. Overall both bosses improved, and this galaxy is probably my favorite in the game.
My rating: 5/5
My rating (boss): 3.5/5
My rating (secret boss): 3.5/5
Hightail Falls Galaxy: Okay, I like this galaxy too. The introduction of the Dash Pepper and the first use of Yoshi since Yoshi Star were a great combo. However, the Dash Pepper could get a little annoying for me as I kept running into walls or falling off the map, which made the level a little too hard for World 2 imo.
My rating: 4.5/5
Boulder Bowl Galaxy: I don't see much wrong with this galaxy either. The introduction of the Rock Mushroom was okay I guess but it shares a similar problem with Hightail Falls (that being control). At least the boss, Rollodillo, didn't have the same problem and is the first boss to utilize a power-up, which imo is cool. Seriously though, why did they have to make Rollodillo's weak spot its ass?
My rating (level): 4/5
My rating (boss): 4.5/5
Cosmic Cove Galaxy: Have never met a single person who dislikes this galaxy. It's fun, it's more open than most other levels *cough cough* bad partner level *cough cough* and all the missions are fun. I love the addition of the Star Bunny chase and freezing the entire galaxy over.
My rating: 5/5
Wild Glide Galaxy: Okay, it introduced a new mechanic, but the controls in these Fluzzard levels are so sloppy it's unreal. Also, hitting an obstacle basically means instant-ish death.
My rating: 0.5/5
Honeybloom Galaxy: I love this level too. I think that this was the perfect way to introduce the Bee Mushroom, which oddly enough I completed the galaxy without. The aesthetics were immaculate, the music was probably my favorite from the first Galaxy game (alongside Waltz of the Boos, Bouldergeist Battle and Beach Bowl Galaxy), even the layout was perfect.
My rating: 5/5
Bowser's Lava Lair: To be honest, there's not much to say about this. It's a typical Bowser level, no more, no less. However it works better than some from the first Galaxy game, so I'll give it points for that. Also the boss fight against Bowser wasn't a knockoff of the Super Mario 64 one for once.
My rating (level): 4.5/5
My rating (boss): 4.5/5
My rating overall for World 2: 4.75/5

I think this topic is interesting and SMG2 is my favourite 3D platformer so I'll share my opinions starting with World 1 (and prepare for probably hot takes). I will be giving my thoughts based on my experience from when I first played the game (I was 7)
Sky Station Galaxy
I think it's fine, nothing special but it's a good first level for the game. It's not too difficult either, even if I spent 24 mins the first time I ever played the game so new players can get a feel for it. The boss is simple and the prankster comet is fine.
7/10
Yoshi Star Galaxy
First time seeing Yoshi and it's pretty easy to get used to. I'm not even gonna lie tho, I never really cared for this galaxy too much for reasons I can't explain, I suppose some of the planets were a bit boring. Still a good galaxy for early on in the game. I also never cared for the boss.
6.5/10
Spin Dig Galaxy
I honestly really liked this galaxy, especially the Digga-leg fight (and my first battle against him was actually super clutch for my terrible standards back then). I also thought the Spin Drill wasn't too hard to use tbh. Pretty solid and simple.
8/10
Fluffy Bluff Galaxy
It looks aesthetically nice but it's boring to play. I don't care for this one at all, it just existed.
4/10
Flip Swap Galaxy
The end probably felt a bit too hard for newer players (ig they do give you the Cosmic Spirit but still) but otherwise I really enjoy this galaxy. It's one idea done well and progressively becomes more interesting. Even to this day I enjoy it.
7/10
Rightside Down Galaxy
Probably my favourite in World 1, it was just really fun to play near the beginning. My only gripe is that they only used the sideways gravities at the end only, not really an issue tho.
9/10
Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla
It's good for a final galaxy, nothing really special here. Gobbleguts was interesting too, didn't know Bowser Jr would keep a pet Chinese dragon. The way to fight the boss kinda made me laugh as a kid ig. Otherwise it feels a bit short but that might be expected.
7/10

World 2 time, and it's probably my least favourite one
Puzzle Plank Galaxy
It's an okay galaxy, like most galaxies in this world it's just one mission with a hidden star/prankster comet/both, which isn't bad but I wasn't really a fan of those. This is one of the better ones, and I really liked the 3rd planet where everything starts falling since it gave me a good challenge when I started.
7.5/10
Hightail Falls Galaxy
It's really just an obstacle course in the sky, and the prankster comet is more annoying than skill based with the random meteors that get in the way. I don't really like this one tbh. At least the 1st green star is cool ig.
3/10
Boulder Bowl Galaxy
Spin dig but with a rock and a little bit less interesting imo. Another one of those single mission galaxies so I feel like they could've done more with the new powerup. The stars themselves are pr cool tho.
6.5/10
Cosmic Cove Galaxy
The only galaxy in this world where the 2nd mission is completely different. The first one is really boring but the 2nd one is cool. Even tho we are sick of chasing star bunnies I thought the hidden star was actually fine, and I enjoyed the challenge when I started.
7.5/10
Wild Glide Galaxy
It's fine, the progression is nice, only getting the actual comet medal is mid.
7/10
Honeybloom Galaxy
I didn't like this galaxy when I first started for reasons I can't explain, but looking back it's actually one of the best galaxies in this world. There's so many different ideas and the progression is really good. I would also just speedrun the hidden star for fun.
9/10
Bowser's Lava Lair
Really solid Bowser level with lots of different ideas. ig honeybloom reasons but lava themed.
9/10
World 3 soon...

World 3
Tall Trunk Galaxy: Right off the bat, this is a pretty meh galaxy. The Blimp Fruit was slow and rather annoying but I guess the aesthetics were good. I'll give the galaxy extra points for the Slider too.
My rating: 3.5/5
Cloudy Court Galaxy: This galaxy is amazing. I loved the execution of the music motif in tandem with the sky motif. The secret mission was really cool, too. Not surprised this was modded into Odyssey, it's amazing hands down.
My rating: 5/5
Haunty Halls Galaxy: Okay, another meh galaxy. I liked the aesthetic but it has a lot of the same problems as Tall Trunk, which can barely be compromised. The Bulb Berry was fine, but the execution for this level was horrid. It's like Matter Splatter from the first game but worse since it's timed. I did like the Big Boo chase at the end of the galaxy, though.
My rating: 3/5
Freezy Flake Galaxy: Okay, this is an amazing galaxy. I love the attention to detail and the amount of themes in tandem with the snow. The lava planet in the first mission, the snowstorm planet and boss fight in the second and the ice rink theme in the secret mission. About the boss (Sorbetti), I think it's one of my favorites in the game. It's much harder to cheese than the others that use the same mechanic and I also like how it was a planet rather than another overgrown life form.
My rating (level): 5/5
My rating (boss): 5/5
Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy: Star Ball levels are bad enough. The paint motif was meh, the controls were annoying and the miniboss, while okay, was a pain in the ass with the controls. I will give it a few points for the miniboss, however.
My rating: 1.5/5
Beat Block Galaxy: Okay. Ewww. This is how NOT to do a music level. Cloudy Court? Great. Flash Black? Ehhh, could be better. This galaxy? No. It was time-consuming and tedious. There was no consistent motif other than the Blinking Blocks and the music was so off-putting.
My rating: 0/5
Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet: I don't think I value how important final galaxies are in SMG2. But imo, this is quite mid tbh. I love the theming and the use of Yoshi, but it was quite easy to Infinite Flutter and skip so much of the galaxy. The boss wasn't an easy cheese though, and I enjoyed it. The aesthetics were phenomenal as always, but the Yoshi usage was too easy to cheese.

My rating (boss): 4/5
My rating overall for World 3: 3.5/5
Tall Trunk Galaxy: Right off the bat, this is a pretty meh galaxy.
