What is your favourite Mario game?

I started a topic on the worst Mario games, so now I'm doing the exact opposite.

My favourite game absolutely HAS to be Super Mario Odyssey. If you're wondering, I am only 9 years old, so this is the first game I had. For that, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Cappy is really fun to use, especially since you can control enemies. And most captures are really fun to use (with the exeption being the Boulder from the Deep Woods that you probably forgot existed).

Super Mario Odyssey is simply the most fun I've ever had, and for that it's my favourite.

As for my second, third, fourth, etc. favourite games, I'd say 2nd goes to Super Mario 3D World+Bowser's Fury. 3rd goes to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, 4th goes to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (are you noticing these are all Nintendo Switch games?), 5th being Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and 6th being Super Mario Galaxy 2.

I don't agree with Super Mario 64 IN THE SLIGHTEST, but the others are all good picks!

to me i like sm64 even with the glitches, it was the first game that i played when i had a n64 and then i played it again when i had a ds :P

Also, Smash isn't a Mario game.

12. Mario Kart: Double Dash
While slippery, fast, and kinda hard, this is my favorite Mario Kart game. It's close between this and DS, but this one has a slight edge. The slipperyness isn't really an issue, you guys are just noobs.
Nah, just kidding. But you guys are overexaggerating. The game is just really chaotic and skill-based, and if you say it's too hard then you need to take a step away from your computer/laptop/phone/Ipad and rethink your statement.

11. Mario Parties 3, 6, 7, DS, and 8
All of them are really good, and I can't choose any of them to be the best so I put 'em all here.

10. Paper Mario 64
I first experienced this through WiiU Virtual Console, and I was in L O V E with the game. Nice pacing, good plot, amazing battle mechanics...what more could you ask for?

8. Wario's Woods
Would this really count as a Mario game?
Eh.
It's a very complicated puzzle game, and it may be too complicated for some of you Kirby Mains to understand, but I still love it. I'd rather not go in too much detail, just know that it's good and also fun.

7. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
I didn't play it until recently, but once I did I was hooked. Not much I can really say apart from what I said about 64, though.
Also, I got a running joke out of it.

6. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
This is a great game. Yes, it's long, but aren't ALL RPGs? And also, yes it has a lot of tutorials at the beginning, but...this was my first RPG EVER. So the tutorials helped...well, quite a lot!

5. Super Mario 64 DS
This game isn't one I grew up directly with, but one I really played once I was a little older. I know I've spent ours gambling with Luigi, as well as playing the actual game. Speaking of, the game has several great and fun stars, putting in new ones in replacement of some of 64 OG's more boring ones. In addition, you can play as Luigi, Wario, Yoshi...and Mario too I guess. This is my favorite version of Mario 64, hands down.

4. Super Mario Sunshine
Look, I know you hate the game, but I love it. Yes, it's jank, but that's what made it fun! I didn't even get to play it until 3D All-Stars, and I STILL consider it a classic.
Also, I like collectathons, so I actually had fun collecting Blue Coins.

3. Mario Sports Mix
Just remembering the NAME gives me nostalgia. Being born in the exact same year the Wii released, I'm definitely a Wii kid. Mario Sports Mix was one of my favorites. There are 4 sports: Basketball, Hockey, Dodgeball, and the one I never played. I particularly loved dodgeball. The minigames are fun as hell too, especially Smash Skate. Chaos, chaos!

2. Mario Super Sluggers
LET'S PLAY BALL!
This one...THIS ONE. I have so much I wanna say about this one, and how I LOVE IT.
First, let's start with the comparison to the previous Mario baseball.
This one's better because it has Wiggler
Speaking of, the characters! There are a FREIGHT TRAIN LOAD of characters, with different personalities, chemistry with other players (good buffs abilities, bad hinders them), Special Swings (for captains), Special fielding abilities, and more. In addition, the animations are Super clean, the roster is extremely balanced, and best of all: THE MOTION CONTROLS ACTUALLY ARE GOOD.
For gameplay purposes, at least. If feels really...well, good!
Lastly, the story mode. While easy to pros, little noobs like baby me thought it was a challenge.
Huh. No wonder they called it Challenge Mode.

I'll keep this clean and simple.
It cured my depression.

Super Mario 3D Land (Being one of my first games I had all to myself, I have SEVERAL fond memories with this one. Also, it's VERY underrated.

Mario Kart DS
I love this game, but I like Double Dash more. 'Tis all I'll say.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Surprisingly dark for a Mario game, but still very charming, as per usual for Mario games.

Super Mario Bros 3
People say they like Super Mario World, but I'd argue this is a factually better game.
I don't wanna make this too long so I won't say it here.

Super Mario Maker 2
I love making. I love Mario. This game is super. This game is also 2.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii
This is the game that brought me into Super Mario  as a series, and video games as a whole. I'd be shameful to not mention this one.

10. Super Mario Sunshine
Despite the game being the most jank game in existence, just like LuigiDawg said, that's what makes it fun. Also, you said it's the worst video game ever? Nah dude, there are games WAY worse. You would hate Crash Bandicoot. Anyway, great worlds, great story, FLUDD being amazing and broken, and infinite dive makes this a great game.

9. Mario Kart 7
Amazing tracks, the new mechanics are great, and the best retro track selection ever, including the best online play.

8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Amazing graphics and great tracks. Not much else I can add.

7. Super Mario Galaxy 2
A beautiful and colorful game that pushed the Wii to its limits.

6. Super Mario Galaxy
While darker than Galaxy 2, I prefer Galaxy slightly more.

5. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
A fantastic RPG with hilarious dialogue and great combat. Also, Starlow straight up verbally abusing Luigi.

4. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (3DS)
Same as BIS, but the combat is better and I think the jokes are slightly funnier.

3. Super Mario Odyssey
What an amazing game. I would love to experience playing this game again for the first time. And yes, the game isn't perfect. Some of the worlds are terrible and too small.

2. Paper Mario 64
An amazing RPG that has stood the test of time. Everything about this game is amazing.

What is there to say about this game that hasn't already been said? While I do think it is overexaggerated, it's still a phenomenal game. Also, ALL HAIL THE LIFE SHROOM POKEY.

Darn 9 year olds think your opinions are always the correct ones. I can understand some new players such as you may have a hard time understanding the game, but that doesn't mean it "sucks". I'm just more of a fan of Puzzle games than you are. Similarly, while I disagree with your opinion on Odyssey, I don't think you're outright wrong. I just have a different opinion. If someone wants to play and try to like Super Mario 64, they can.

Actually, I do have reason. It's because I can't understand it. You're right. (Also, I'm not a Kirby main. I'm a Mario main.)

Also, you must be more of a fan of puzzle games than I am. I hate Paper Mario: The Origami King.
