Those times the game really didn't want you to win

Like this one time I was playing on a custom multicup for characters. On the first race, I try to hit a CPU with a green shell and miss, allowing that green shell to bounce back and hit me.
What happens next is that I am immediately shocked. Before I can recover, another CPU swings around with a Bob-Omb and gets it detonated against their own will by yet another driving into it.
I, caught in the explosion, essentially suffered the same fate as being hit by three red shells in a row.

...ouch.

I have my own moment online when the game gave me and my lead a painful message. I was in a lobby with someone of the world's best on DK Pass and was winning for most of the race, but I got hit by 6 or 7 blue shells in the last 2 laps, including 3 back-to-back halfway through lap 3. End result, 2nd.

sadness....

When first place gets a bobomb on DSRR...

I guess I'll share a story that happened before I turned competitive. I was in an online match with 5-6 of the 9 year-old players, and was winning by quite a bit, so on DSRR, on L3, I got hit by 9 blue shells and 5 bombs from people I was lapping. End result, still 1st, but was really annoying after the 5th-6th time I was blown up. MK Characters are really durable lol

When the CPU gets a Bob-omb, period. If they use it, and another racer happens to gently graze the Bob-omb, BAM! Big explosion that makes you spin around 4 times. During that time, you could possibly get hit by ANOTHER item, which makes you spin around MORE. You can just get combo'd so much that it feels like you're being bullied by the game.

Just happened, like 3 minutes ago, I was in 3rd place, about to cross the finish line and I said to myself, "Yeah, I'll take third place." Right when I'm about to cross the finish line, every CPU and their mother decided to gang up on me. I got hit by bullet bills, stars, mega mushrooms, e v e r y t h i n g .






I got 7th place.

I recall something similar to that happening to me about a month ago.
I was trying to unlock characters, and I was attempting to get Gold on the Bob-omb cup. I was on Airship Fortress, an already tough track due to the Bullet Bills, and I was on the last turn. Waluigi was too far ahead, so I wasn't getting 1st. But if I got 2nd, I'd still be able to get Gold in the cup. Then, when I was only meters before the finish line, I got Blue shelled, then stared, then a CPU ran into me trailing a Bob-omb and blew both of us up, THEN I got Lightning'd, and lastly Bullet Bill'd.

I ended up finishing 7th, and overall in the cup 2nd.

That's rough.
