I was looking at more footage of MK World recently and I noticed something, Kamek turns players into those stranger characters the game has now, and it looks like that's the way you unlock those characters, but there's something else, when they were racing in Desert Hills, they turned into pokeys, which can mean that the characters you get depend on the course, and it's not like they couldn't do it, since the costumes already look like they depend on the Tracks themselves, so I'll put my ideas for where you get the new characters (and maybe characters that already existed)
So, taking in account the map under, I think those are the characters you get from them (no specific order):

Airship Fortress, Rocky Wrench, since they are a hazard

Some of these are stretches, but I like the idea, although Lakitu makes more sense for the Oriental track than Wiggler.
Makes sense, I put wiggler there because of Maple Treeway. Maybe then Lakitu on the Oriental Track, Wiggler on Peach Stadium and Para-Biddybuddy on the ? Block Track

Tbh, I don't think it will be called Mario Kart 9, or even X, why? Well, 7 and 8 were made on the New Super Mario Bros era, an era where creativity wasn't one of Nintendo's main things (that's why instead of original names, the titles had numbers), we are on a new era, an era were Nintendo is actually being original, so for me, having a number (or roman numeral) on the title wouldn't make sense, and each second, Mario Kart Crossroads makes more sense to me as a name than 9 or X

Nope, it's not a joke. It was in the Treehouse footage.
Obviously it'll be hard to unlock them because it relies on RNG three times(once to pull a Kamek Item & a second time to get him to do the Cheep Cheep transformation, which is environment dependent in & of itself), but Cheep Cheep is playable.
if there's a vs mode it won't be that hard, you'll just need to grind the Track until you get it

idk how anyone could think that Gooma & Moo Moo are the most chaotic when Coincoffer is in the game. Tht's a character that's only been in, like, 2/3 games.
