The former is not true, as Chain Chomps (plus Amps and Fuzzies as the former is more electric, not fire + the latter is no way fire related and as I read from the Mario Wiki, are supposed to be black parasites) are in no way related to fire (You may be looking for Flame Chomps, their brothers) and the latter is the most generic answer you could give (woaw theyre the same color that must mean theyre related!!! [SPOILER ALERT: literally not the case bro]).
In other words, please actually do research before doing these “theories” as I hate it when people don’t have good sources to back them up.
