You know I'm talking from a competitive standpoint here, and there's something interesting about this question. There's no definitive answer. There is no 1 character that every competitive player agrees is the best in the game. There are a few big answers though. Joker, Peach/Daisy, Palutena, now Zero Suit Samus is there as well. Even at top level you'll find different answers. As of the most recent tier list, that took the lists made by 50 of the best players in the world, Palutena came out on top. But that doesn't speak for everyone.

My opinion, but I main Kirby(don't mess with my pink marshmallow, he is not F tier) and Luigi, so I would say them. But from a competitive standpoint, Min Min, Ganondorf, and DK.

I don't see anyone put Pikachu at the top anymore, but pretty much always top 5. Mr. G&W is the same, he's always high tier but never number 1.

Kirby, Ganondorf and Little mac make up the F tier I'm afraid
Coming from a Ganondorf main it hurts saying that. Min-min's terrible in disadvantage, just like Ganondorf, so you have to keep up a good game or you're toast. DK's good, but being a heavy has problems in its own right, and his recovery leaves a lot to be desired.On 2020-08-19 at 21:21:48
From personal experience, I would say Luigi, Pac-Man, and Snake. They're my 3 mains, and Luigi and Pac-Man can do some absolutely crazy combos (especially Pac-Man, I mean just look at this stuff:

I think it depends on how good you are with Kirby. I have beaten Bayonetta with Kirby in Smash 4 on Wii U. It wasn't some newbie either.

For me it's Peach who wins. Because fun fact, if you hit just before hitting the ground, the hit will have less power but Peach, thanks to her floating history, totally ignores this mechanic .

Because that's how tier lists and match-up charts work. If all players were of equal skill, playing under tournament rules, who's the best? Kirby stands no chance against Bayonetta under those conditions.
