Mario Party 8 is trash, Mario Party 9 is trash but it does have some good minigames, and Super Mario Party is really good. The only Mario Party games I've played is Mario Party 2 on an emulator, Mario Party 8, Mario Party: The Top 100, and Super Mario Party.
I'm not going to get mad over that first opinion but why do you think the game's trash?
Because, and I am not over-exaggerating, almost E V E R Y minigame has motion controls. Not to mention almost everything else has you using motion controls. For the two people on this planet who have not experienced the Wii motion controls, they suck(except the Mario Galaxy games, which handled them quite well). Not to mention the boards are mediocre, except for the train map, and the minigames would STILL be bad if they didn't have motion controls. Super Mario Party definitely did the motion controls and minigames 100x better. All in all, a mediocre party with better Mario Party games worth your time. If you are persistent on getting a party game on the Wii, get Wii Party, highly underrated game with way better minigames.

I think MK7 haters don't appreciate what MK7 did for the series. Sure, no VS mode may be a pain sometimes, but I still really enjoy the game. Honest opinion, I think it has the best online mode in Mario Kart. It also has the best retro track selection in the entire series.

Ho boy, here we go...
I feel like the cons outweigh the pros. What I mean by that is this:
Pros: Some of my favorite tracks in the series are in it such as, Coconut Mall, Maple Treeway, Toad's Factory, and Moonview Highway.
The character selection is fantastic, no doubt. The kart selection is fantastic too.
The music is awesome too.
Cons: The item distribution is absolutely terrible, the worst in the series. All at once, I've been hit by a blue shell, a POW block, and a lightning(maybe not in that order.)
Rubber banding is pretty bad too. I wouldn't say AS bad as 64, but pretty close.
Controls are..eh, they could be better.
Wario's Gold Mine. Nuff said.
