Maybe there could be a way to make custom items, but they would have to be balanced/limited to the creator's multicup(s).
Do you mean skins for other items or completely new items altogether? I don't know any coding in any language but scratch so...

It could honestly be either/both, I wouldn't mind learning to code if I could only make my own items.
You could also change item behaviour as well.(A good example would be the red shells in MKWii, if you get hit or go over a half pipe, the red shell purposefully slows down to hit you.)

Idk, I just don't like her for some reason. Anyways, you should be able to select certain custom characters that can be selected randomly by the CPU without having to select them every time you play
