So what? People still understands what it means so it's all good.I call it "Blue Helmet" but in french and even if it's nothing like "Blue Shell" or "Spiny Shell" people still understand what I mean.

Frankly I think Spiny Shell is a stupid name, because while you could argue it's just because the shell has spines, the name implies it's the shell of a Spiny enemy, and it clearly isn't because those are red and don't have wings. Also the other shells in Mario Kart are named after their colour. But really nobody cares what you call it if it makes sense

I think Spiny Shell is a much better name tbh. Simply calling it Blue Shell makes it sound like a low tier item on a similar scale to Reds and Greens.
Also it was always called Spiny, people just said Blue because it was shorter, like how people abbreviate characters/weapons in competitive games.

Spiny Shell's the Blue Shell that comes after you if you're in first place. It pursues you until it explodes like a tracking bomb. Basically a Red Shell and a Bomb combined that gets the leader.
