SPACE FOR ANYTHING (New)

(For context this is set in the city of Hiroshima, Japan, in an unknown year in the 1990s. A girl in her early 20s grows scared of her rather disquieting male friend in his late 20s as she visits his rather strange house in the middle of a random hill in a rural part of the city)

Ever since she entered her friend's abode, strange paraphernalia penetrated the air. It was as though she had been bitten by the Devil himself. She hadn't anticipated such a dreadful phantasmagoria as she beheld the brass door handle; even the dismal alleys leading behind the city into the outskirts seemed appealing in comparison to what was to follow.
She twisted the handle slightly until an almost silent click resonated through the antique, stifled brass, beckoning the girl to enter as though Death himself had summoned her. The floors of the lower floors, though neatly paved, felt like splinters and loose nails beneath the soles of her feet. She felt on edge with every step she took, "walking on eggshells" so the city folk called it, but was that not supposed to be a figurative phrase?
She knew not, then for a brief second she believed that blood was trickling from her forehead as though devils incarnate had etched a Satanic cross atop her scalp.
Above all, she was majorly disquieted, she knew not for why she was still acquainted to such a condescending individual as he, yet as she reached for the brass handle he was standing directly in front of her, as if he had read her mournful, pitiful spiel of thoughts. He always had to get the last word in.
