There was a random kids show on Netflix created by rapper Ludacris that released back in 2021 that was trending on TikTok called Karma's World It reveolves around a girl named Karma as she goes through middle school and learns lots of life lessons along the way. The show tackles racism, parental arguements, dyslexia, hell even bodyshaming, and more. and recently it was trending on youtube and TikTok for when in the first episode, Karma was at school as her teacher Mr. Single (what kind of name is that) does attendence for the day as he gets to Karma's name she starts rappin for some reason, then the entire internet makes fun of her rappin the time. (Im part of the hate train too lol)

personally i think it's more concerning because the parents are the ones running the show, like...just allow him to retire! you've probably made all the money you want! you don't need to keep using him like a cash cow!

Ryan was actually 3 or 4 when he started making videos, bc he started back in 2015, Ryans peak i'd say was around 2018-2020 to the point he got a Nickelodeon show. But if the Ryans World Movie released around between those years it would've been much more successful. I know movies take time but by the time the movie came out, most of his audience grew up or moved on like most of us did. Also it's not his fault, his parents are probably forcing him to do it bc they have taxes to pay, like atp just get a real job. I just felt bad for him from that interview in 2024. He looked like he was forced to say what his parents told him to say. Also his mom was arrested for shoplifting once a decade before Ryan was born so yeah.

Someone talks about how "cringe" a show is and suddenly nobody can form an original thought π
Honestly I'm fine with Karma's World, my nieces and nephews absolutely love it (altho me, my half-sisters and my cousins do find the constant rapping a bit much)
A lot of the hate I've seen about this show online is just "LOL LOOK AT HOW CRINGE THIS IS" and like. The shows me and other people in my sort of age range watched in our youth were also cringe so I don't think we *really* have much room to talk on that matter (also some of the discourse is fuelled by racist comments so uh I would much prefer to distance myself from that and form my own opinions lol)
I really do think a lot of the discourse has just been overblown and fuelled by a shit ton of bad actors who just want to make this about race (Oh No A Kid's Show Says Racism Is Bad How Dare They) and/or are just looking to shit on anything in their vicinity by calling it cringe (seriously it's a kid's show wtf do you expect)
About the lessons it's teaching, yeah it doesn't really explain why something is bad in depth but I don't think it needs to really, even if the rapping is just forced at times music is a great way to make a message stick (heck a lot of music (particularly punk, goth, Latin and calypso music) has done this and still does), and doing so with a simple message and popular music genre really does help children learn on a fundamental level what is right and wrong (I don't think you can really justify Karma rapping at the start of class but to be fair it is a pretty decent introduction to the premise and main character of the show all things considered)
So yeah I genuinely feel as though Karma's World is overhated and I know I'm in a stark minority here but I think it's just getting absolutely sharted on atp πΆ
EDIT: I just re-read the first message and holy shit being proud to be part of a hate train for something frankly inoffensive is certainly a choice πβ

I know saying i was on the hate train, pretty stupid for that ik. Can the show can be annoying? Yes absolutely, but the topics tackled are actually pretty well done, I haven't seen many kids shows (especially in the demographic) tackle most of the topics shown in the top comment. But the racism, I absolutely do not support it in like social media and stuff, I am actually black irl, but I see why people might think its cringe, but they just say its cringe to get views ngl. I don't know anybody that actually watches the show so yeah.Honestly I'm fine with Karma's World, my nieces and nephews absolutely love it (altho me, my half-sisters and my cousins do find the constant rapping a bit much)

Yeah I see this a lot even with shows aimed towards my sort of age group where it's just not representative of actual experiences and has a completely whitewashed cast with a lot of one-dimensional characters that conform to a staunchly rigid status quo (*cough cough* Bowser's Koopalings *cough cough*) and I seriously have to wonder why they can't just talk to their peers who are for example BIPOC or LGBTQ+ to better gauge how to include good examples of diversity in the show
Using Bowser's Koopalings as an example (idfk how they fumbled the bag this hard with diversity when the characters aren't even human but apparently it happened), there's one gay relationship in the entire show that is written to be quite clearly abusive as opposed to the many healthy straight relationships, there are maybe like one or two characters of a different species (Boos and Dry Bones don't even count because they're undead Koopas) and the one character with a different skin tone is Morton π
Don't even get me started on the women, I think this screenshot that oomf took says it all

So yeah I think it's really refreshing to see a show tackle these issues and call them out head-on when other shows are frankly too pusillanimous to even try (even if Karma's World does it in a less than conventional way)
