This is a Vocaloid-inspired mod that lets you play as Mayu and modifies most of the game's sprites, music and dialogues!
This mod is part of a Vocaloid fanfic I'm writing and it's meant to become a saga.

Story:

Mayu and Kaito were best friends, always being together. But one day, Kaito began to date Teto and Mayu got jealous because he spended less and less time with her and now he was always with his new girlfriend. Mayu slowly began to see Teto as a monster that controlled Kaito and purposely kept him away from her (even if Mayu was the only one to think that), so she finally decided to fight her and "save" Kaito!
The game shows how Mayu sees the world around her, with everyone that tries to stop her becoming little smashable monsters and Teto being the main enemy. In multiplayer mode, you can see an original fanloid called Wayu, which is an imaginary Mayu clone that will try to compete with her in a race to see who can reach Kaito first.

Features of the mod:

-Mayu as the protagonist of the story
-An original fanloid, Wayu, as the second player
-Most misc. sprites of the game have been modified to be music themed
-Most enemies have been mixed with different Vocaloid characters
-The mushroom is now Usano Mimi, the fire flower is now an axe, the super star is now a speaker (Based on Mayu's hat) and the 1-Up is Osanu Wimi (Wayu's plush rabbit)
-Fireballs are now tiny axes, and you can see a blood explosion effect when they hit something
-Mayu will bleed in water levels (check the concept art for an explanation on this)
-A Bowser-like version of Teto will fight you at the end of every castle. VY2 will be just chilling behind her in castles 1-7 and Kaito will appear if you defeat Teto in castle 8
-All songs in the game have been remixed
-The game uses a custom font and most dialogues are changed

Important notes:

-Some color palettes will look wrong because of technical limitations of the game, sorry about that
-The game was tested using Nestopia and two different versions of JNes. The colors displayed on the latest version of JNes will be brighter than intended and the version featured on Windows96 will show visual bugs after completing a castle. It's unknown if Nestopia has any anomalies since it wasn't used to test the latest build. If you find any bugs, please let me know wich emulator you were using
-This mod shows blood, but it should be suitable for any ages aside from that. However, the background story it's intended for a +13 audiance
