The reason why the message counter should objectively be deleted is because it presents having as many messages as possible as an achievement, but according to that metric alone spamming is something to be proud of when it's obviously not the case.
The younger immature userbase of the forum is made of young kids that take the suggestion behind the message counter too literally and fail to realize that quality is far more important than quantity in this context, since extreme quantity combined with 0 quality is just spam and that's against the rules.
Yes, the message counter indeed gives the message that having sent a lot of messages is an achievement, but that's the case ONLY because it ASSUMES all of these messages are meaningful and high-quality enough to deserve to exist and not count as spam!
Wargor's mistake is that he didn't foresee immature forum users misunderstanding the intent behind the message counter, since it seemed common sense enough to him that it's supposed to make you proud of having sent a lot of messages on the forum that aren't just any kind of message...
