Before I start: First, I tried a GP to see if I could catch up, but no, now I regret playing the GP Mode and, instead opt for both TT and VS modes.
I am going to explain this:

Why are the NPCs so hard and annoying to beat in MKPC (GP Mode)?

Firstly, when you enter this mode, they are automatically put on 150cc, difficult mode and aggressive items, so they gain speed if you are far off of them (or even attempt to do so) With this serious “rubberbanding” problem, any wrong move that the player makes or if the player gets hit, this spells last place. They are also put on a specific road that cancels the effect if they go off-road or run through “special” roads.

Are the NPCs on Grand Prix fair?

Like the people that are complaining about this, I doubt that it is unfair too, but there is a reason for this (especially for then-experienced players that are actually struggling with the new MKPC engine update) That means that a strict difficulty level is also effective, if not being as one of the most barbaric and cruelest methods for players to improve.

What can you do to improve yourself?

The first method is where you stay at low ranks for the majority of the race to consistently receive stronger items (also known as sandbagging) As a result, the “rubberbanding” effect only affects you if you are in 1st place, so only catch up in the end.
