In a question asked on Twitter in 2019, somebody asked Charles Martinet(the voice of Mario), what Mario was saying when he threw Bowser.
Martinet said Mario said, "So long, king-a Bowser!"
I've listened to the audio in normal speed and .25 speed and it still sounds like Gay Bowser. I think Martinet is lying to himself. Plus, it doesn't even sound like "king-a". In fact, it's a syllable short of "king-a".
I think Martinet replied "king-a Bowser" is because he actually said "Gay Bowser" but you can't say it anymore in today's society.

I've always thought he was saying "So long-e Bowser!" Mario has little add-ons like that in a lot of his phrases, like "It's-a me, Mario!" and "Let's-a go!", so it makes sense.

Personally, I think all the Mario Kart games have something that makes them all great, and I like them all, but if I had to choose, I would say either 8 Deluxe or Wii (I probably like Wii just because I grew up with it.)
