Retro rewind in mkpc
On 2026-02-17 at 23:45:52
Ok, i kinda want to do my own little collab multicup thing which has every mario kart track, (including snes, arcade and ns2 tracks)
Sorry to burst your bubble but you can not fit every track inside a multicup as you'll hit the limit (40 cups) before you get to every track.
If you own Nintendo, what would you do?
On 2026-05-25 at 17:17:04
make MKWorld good
wdym? MKWorld is fine how it is, they even fixed some characters' crappy animations!
Yes that's what I would do, I would make the character animations look even better than they do for NS2.
trust me bro have you played online
Online is the main way to play the game unless you have 11 or more friends around, so yes awful online is quite a significant drawback
This is also without mentioning 24 players or how terrible the items are
What is your best MKPC track?

How do you make the URL say the name of the track?

Already highly rated but my favourite track I've made is still Sky Sanctuary.
Everything about every MKPC item!
On 2025-10-15 at 23:17:22

(This is from the perspective of a C tier lounger lol, also when I talk about distributions I'm referring to the item distribution used in CT Lounge, not the base game.)
S Tier
Free win unless it's at the end of lap 3 in which case you'd likely lose anyway, also a really fun dynamic in teams
How good this item is will depend on the track, but it's not uncommon to get a free top placement just by pressing a button, also shock dodge
Go fast, also really good if paired up with mushrooms, also shock dodgeA Tier
Same thing as a star, just slightly weaker
x3 Mushrooms are pretty essential for most shortcuts, and having three of them just makes it three times better. Also a very easy item to burn in case you want to chain (cough gold shroom cough)
Weaker shock, also alot harder to use right. Can still easily turn the tides on a race though. LE MINI SHOCK
Same thing as triple mushrooms. Also forgot to mention dodging blue shells which is another crucial aspect. While all the other items mentioned earlier (except shock and pow) can blue dodge, an opportunity for that to happen comes very rarely unlike the single shroom which you can pull in 2nd placeB Tier
x3 This item would probably be higher if it wasn't buggy as hell. Single red shells already have some issues, and the triple red shell brings even more issues where you throw a red, it goes backwards, it kills one of your reds, leaving you with a single rotating red shell (worse than just pulling one red shell), fortunately this doesn't happen that often
Speaking of single red shell, this item is generally useful. Sniping 1st place because they made the mistake of showing their fib is always funny. Problem is it can be useless, either going straight into a wall for no reason or hitting a decor with wall collisions (Quick Kernell Pro Track Creation Tip: always disable those, they never play well). Also can be used to scare the people behind you to not catch up.
The best item you can pull in first place, amazing to trail as you'll scare the nutsack of people behind you and especially great on cannons to pretty much guarantee killing someone. You can also snipe if you're good. Only problem is that it can backfire if you don't keep your momentum. Also fun fact I made the new bob omb sprite and Wargor did not put me in the website credits

x3 Contending with the bomb for best item in 1st as this provides really good defense as well as allowing you to block shortcuts
Funny wall snipe haha unga bunga. Also good defensively.
x3 You might be wondering why the triple version is lower, and that is because of the placement. While this item is decent in 2nd, anything behind that is just pretty much trash. Still decently defensive but it won't protect you from all the invincibility items later positions get. Also a good time to mention that if you throw 2 green shells forward in quick succession, they hit each other and if you use a green followed by a mushroom you hit yourself.
Not nearly as good as the triple version, but still able to block a red or make someone take a wider turn.
It does kinda bother me that this is the only item that isn't really an official MK item but whatever it fits the game regardless. Anyway it's just a stronger banana. Really funny to use on tracks with teleporters as you can basically guarantee a hit if another person takes the teleport.C Tier
Ngl while making the tier list I forgot about C tier lol. Anyway this is the MKPC equivalent of the coin item, as in a mostly useless item so 1st place can't dodge every red shell thrown their way. Can be used to dodge blue shells apparently but it still slows you down and personally haven't had many opportunities to do this strat (wouldn't a banana also be better?)D Tier
This is a hot take, but honestly this item just exists to punish last place. This item is a significantly worse bullet bill, which you get in the same placements as a bullet bill. All it does is prevent you from using any other item, making you stuck with this. It can be good on some tracks if they have a lot of off road, but there aren't that many. It also ruins your bagging. If there was a button to just end it instantly this item would be A tier, maybe even S but as it is now it is complete garbage.
Probably the most important item from a game design standpoint. Prevents first place from easily winning every race, and being 2nd/3rd and seeing a blue shell on the minimap is very hype. That being said, getting to pull the blue shell is absolutely miserable. I have had a lot of races ruined because I pull a blue instead of any speed item and just lose. First place is also your last interest if you're all the way in the back. Similar to the shock though, a really fun item to use in team mogis (especially in 3v3/4v4)
Yeah it's a joke item. Pretty much useless as it goes for last place which is generally not what you want to hit. High likelihood they dodge too since last has a lot of invincibility items. This item is fun for dicking around, but I wouldn't ever want this in an actual serious race.
You know this item is bad when it does worse than a literal shitpost. This item does basically nothing. The dark shell at least hits something, this doesn't. It puts some ink pngs on your screen but it's really easy to see through them. You can also look at the unobstructed minimap or get rid of the effect altogether with a boost. This item had to be removed from CT Lounge because pulling it would just end your race as you get nothing while your enemies enjoy destroying you with shells or zooming past you with shrooms. Really hope this item gets reworked someday so it's actually usable, there's a lot of creative options you could do with the blooper. You could block the minimaps + item wheel, you could make the ink reduce stats, you could make the ink slippery and probably a million other things I haven't thought of.

1I got a "Message Farming" Warning??
On 2026-04-26 at 20:23:51
Message farming is just an outdated term, however the problem still persists. Removing message count was only a tiny part of the issues with the forum.
Fact of the matter is that people use the forums instead of playing the game. Part of it is the website's fault, the other part is the community's.
In my opinion, forums should only be for MKPC related topics but that's not my decision to make.

1Track Of The Day/Week
On 2026-04-15 at 14:57:47
People be doing anything but talk about the track
2On 2026-04-14 at 19:18:28

My review:
This track may look simple, but it's actually quite challenging due to having multiple shroomless cuts (AKA niscs (no item shortcuts)) and tiny boost panels at the end which do kind of blend in with the road. You can also
Target Shock people on the jumps, which makes this track very funny on team mogis. However, despite the excellent gameplay the visuals aren't super great and I'm a visual guy grr. The road is barely textured and as mentioned earlier, the boosts kinda blends in with it. Off road doesn't have shading as well as the houses (or mansions if you compare them to the decoration houses). Wish the houses also had distinct identities rather than them both looking the same. There's also the RHcks trees which I've grown to despise over the years (please make your own assets, you're never getting good like this) and I'm not a fan of how the SNES blocks are implemented either. Also feel like there should be background overrides. Speaking of the background, poor Toads are too large to fit their own door. Decors look alright though I do feel like this track has a few too many, my game lagged a couple times during my Time Trials.
Anyway I know I ranted about the visuals for most of the review but most of those are nitpicks and this is still a really good track with superb gameplay.

You can get the image links for backgrounds with the inspect tool (F12)
I NEED A BETTER QUICK MODE
On 2026-04-30 at 23:30:52
I really don't like that in the track builder, quick mode is so limited and that complete mode is so much more advanced.
Yes, it being more advanced is exactly the reason we have it in the first place. That's why you use Complete Mode instead of Quick Mode.
I've had my fair share of custom tracks, and I do like how much freedom they give with checkpoints and walls, etc. but it can take me hours just to perfect a single track. I honestly don't know how people make entire cups out of these.
I think one huge misconception people have about custom tracks is that they're a custom level like Mario Maker. This, however, is not the case. Custom tracks are instead a form of art, and art takes time and dedication.
So when I'm trying to just sit down for maybe five minutes and create something, I jump to quick mode, which then I find out IS SO LIMITING.
I'm pretty sure someone's already talked about this before, but quick mode only has a 6x6 build area, and it would have so much control just be increasing it to say 7x7 or 8x8.
I'm pretty sure someone's already talked about this before, but quick mode only has a 6x6 build area, and it would have so much control just be increasing it to say 7x7 or 8x8.
Quick Mode is supposed to be the easy/casual mode, hence why it's very simple. Adding more features is a waste of time since Complete Mode is right there.
Though one thing that gets on my nerves is that there are only 90 degree turns. Like almost all tracks in the base game have 45 degree turns or less, and it just adds so much flavor, rather than the usual turn right and turn less. I do see how this could be slightly challenging on a grid, but you know - there's geometry class for a reason right?
I'm not sure you realise how big of a task this is. The website is almost entirely updated by one man (Wargor) and I'd say there's a lot of other things that should be prioritized over Quick Mode updates, especially since Complete Mode is right there. While I don't think making the graphics would be too big of an issue (since SNES and GBA use tiles anyway, though DS themes would need to be entirely custom made) someone still has to do it and I've not seen anyone up to the task.
This is not even mentioning how much Wargor will have to code for CPU routes and checkpoints to work on these new tiles. Maybe it's easy, I don't know, I can't program, but I'd say it's a safe bet to say that it isn't simple. Basically what Nodac is trying to say if he wasn't a jackass.
Another thing is that in complete mode, you get to make walls to define your borders, and it's one of the reasons why I'm inclined to quick mode; on detailed tracks I'm sure we all know what a tedious task making walls are. For a better quick mode we could implement maybe big chunks of walls which we get to pick from, (rather than drawing them all out ourselves) and then place them like blocks. This would work because quick mode is made on a grid instead of a windy complete map.
I'm not really sure what you mean with this so correct me if I'm wrong. Some themes already come with walls. Unless you mean these are more decorative tiles, but if you've seen the Quick Mode versions of tracks like Shroom Ridge or Airship Fortress then you'd know that these look really ugly in practice.
I think that rather than changing quick mode and adding features like this, it would be cool if there's an intermediate feature where it has the same style as quick mode, but it has more stuff to do in it, that allows for better looking maps
Again, completely pointless for reasons I already stated earlier.
we all know quick mode maps that take up the entire space all look the same. THEY ALL DO. It doesn't have as much personalization as complete mode, sure, but it can show better results for a quick mode map that has more flavor to it. We could have this as a seperate mode - preferably something like Quicker Mode.
Literally no one wants to play a random quick mode track because they all look the same, they share the same pieces from other tracks, and they have nothing special about them that stands out. People play custom mode tracks because they have interesting visuals, different turns, new viewpoints on the basic editor. It's near-impossible to add any sort of creativity to a quick mode track because there isn't anything new about it. Even if we increase the grid size by a little, or we add a few new pieces, that could make the possibilities increase exponentially, and make every track look different. Because if all tracks are the same, they'll just be floating in the thousands of custom tracks, where no one wants to play it.
What makes you think this new mode won't be equally repetitive? As long as it's all premade assets it'll never look or feel original. Again bringing out Mario Maker as an example: despite having many elements you can use you can't really say any level stands out from a visual standpoint.
In conclusion, use Complete Mode. If you think it's too time consuming then I'm sorry but I don't think this is the right medium meant for you.
2What Songs Are You Nostalgic About?
On 2026-04-30 at 16:04:14
I've made a FileGarden directory dedicated to calling out AI slop in MKPC user profiles when the user has claimed to not use it, your profile very much uses AI-generated images and it's not exactly hard to see. I'm not telling you this to call you out specifically, I've seen this quite a lot, but if you're trying to claim that your profile doesn't use AI I'd recommend removing/changing the images

Instead of doing conspiracy theory stuff and blindly accusing things that look perfectly fine you could've just looked up the actual artist (their name is written in the profile picture you analyzed thoroughly) and see that it was drawn by Hinasumire back in 2021 when AI art did not look this quality.
Anyway now that I've done the argument part of my message guess I should actually contribute, these are all things I remember from when I was under 10 years old (<2013)
Pretty much any song by will.i.am/Black Eyed Peas works lol, I honestly couldn't choose which one is more nostalgic for me so I just posted both (honorable mention to Rock That Body for going insanely hard)
Chipz was pretty big for children too
I spent a lot of time vibing in this specific city as a kid
Honestly one of the most underrated pieces of Mario music ever
I always grinded the star cup to play this track because it's sick as a little booboo baby (Tick Tock Clock was also cool)

I've gone through the ratings of each track and I noticed a few people rating the submissions 1/5 unfairly and without reasoning. Those who were guilty of 1 star trolling on multiple tracks have received warns (I won't list names but you know who you are). It's not fair for people's creations to have their reputations ruined for your own selfish reasons.
The rating of these tracks will not influence the results of the competition, so to those who have a submission and think giving 1/5s will increase your chances at winning you are deeply mistaken. Additionally, if it happens again I will disqualify your submissions. This has never happened in my 5 years of running a TBC, and I hope it never happens again.
On a more positive note, we've received quite a lot of submissions already, so thank you to everyone who has participated. We still have a bit over 3 weeks before the deadline. Good luck to all.

I already have two ideas that I think will be very creative, one has the main gimmick of kalimari desert and is inspired by one of the main things people think of mushrooms, and the other is a retelling of a classic Track, but with a twist inspired by a smash stage
Think it should be specified that remakes are not allowed. The layout has to be original.
