Why MKDS is overrated for me

Okay so I will receive a lot of hate for this I guess but here we go, MKDS is overhyped. WHy ? Okay. SO first off, what's with the polygonal characters ? The models are ugly and I can't see Mario, it looks like they did the same polygonal style as in MK64, but SM64DS exists. The tracks are kinda bland. Okay let's. Figure-8 Circuit is too simple, and so Yoshi Falls, Cheep Cheep Beach could have been executed in a better way, Luigi's Mansion has moving trees and moving trees sucks, plus there aren't any good shortcuts (interesting shortcuts). Desert Hills is very standard and I can't get the theme. It looks like there is weird walls above the hills, plus that's a stereotype track. Delfino Square is good. Nothing much to say. Now Waluigi Pinball, it is actually a very meh track, with an amazing theming, but the execution is abysmal. A lot of useless turns, and it makes the track longer that what it should be with this kind of things. A lot of empty runs. The pinball part is even too wide and not big enough, considering that the utrn section is longer than what it should be ; only the first turn is good and don't say things like there is a lot of turns in a pinball because they cold have been executed WAYYYY much better than this. Shroom Ridge is alright but it feels kinda cramped with all the blind and tight turns, DK Pass is decent but the gameplay is bad, Tick Tock Clock is good, Mario Circuit is one of the best Mario Circuits yet it has a lot of flaws, Airship Fortress is just alright, it's good, but not more. Alright Star Cup does not sucks. Now we got another very good track, Wario Stadium, and my worries start to fly away, but now Peach Gardens. 90 degree turns, annoying course, which is repetitive... It could go in Peach's Castle too, and Bowser's Castle has a lot of gimmicks and Rainbow Road is bad. Sterotype stereotype. Not above a town, not a giant pipe that climbs you over, just a bland track with some loopings. And the loopings could have been executed better than this... Retro tracks sucks, they improve rarely and makes the things worse, they messed up GCN tracks !!! I mean, where's the shortcut and goofiness ? Gone, bro. For the characters well Shy Guy should be available in normal races, while ROB is just bad. For vehicles they are good, but the emblem thingy is not that good. The battle mode has its good arenas and bad arenas, and the Mission Mode is god. Okay so basically :
- okay/stereotype nitro tracks, even if some good tracks are here
- bad models
- the music of RR sucks
- okay battle mode
- good mission mode
- horrible retros
and that's it.
But the game is actually okay/meh, but what triggers me is all the hype around it. That's seriously and easily the worst MK after the three first ones, and some people treat it like the best MK. Waluigi Pinball sucks, for example, and there is so much hype about this.
Well, okay game, but very overhyped and the overhype makes the meh/bad/good things worse.

saying that mkds is the worst Mario Kart ever is quite possibly the most incorrect thing possible. nearly every single flaw that you mentioned is in games like mksc and super Mario Kart, and those games have nowhere near the positives that the DS had (although they seem like fun games to TT, the gripes you mention seems like you would hate those games way more). you should also take into account that this was over 17 years ago now and for its time, it was amazing to play. and the battle mode and mission modes are literally some of the best offerings in Mario Kart history.

I never said it was the worst, I said it was the 4th worst :

MK64 : 0/20
SMK : 2/20
MKSC : 5/20
MKDS : 10/20

Mission Mode is maybe god but Battle mode existed before and tbh the GCN arenas > the ds Arenas
It was 17 years ago ? SM64DS too, and it has better models and graphics.

I agree with you on some of this, but I do feel like everyone over hates the retro tracks just because of the GCN ones. The N64 remakes are good, and so are the SC. I personally feel its time more people see this.

N64 remakes are okay if you consider that this is not MK64 physics, GBA remakes are okay, but... GCN remakes are making a lot of sound because it's sooooo abysmal. I mean, I prefer the retro tracks of SC rather than the GCN remakes in MKDS.
