In my opinion, it's based on what's changed to the experience and how much of an upgrade/downgrade it was.

For best:
5. GBA Mario Circuit - Mario Kart 8
Warning! Lots of GBA recreations in Mario Kart 8 in here. I always enjoyed GBA Mario Circuit 8 Version, and it's my favorite Mario Circuit track. It has so many shroom cuts(unlike most other tracks in Mario Kart 8 ), the anti gravity section was really creative and adds a lot to an otherwise bland track, and overall an enjoyable racing experience

4. GBA Shy Guy Beach - Mario Kart Wii
They really buffed the GBA tracks. Now some of the ramps are pink,
there's tons of shortcuts everywhere, the bombs actually hit and hurt you, and Mario Kart Wii's 12 player thing made the trach more chaotic in an otherwise bland track

3. GBA Cheeseland - Mario Kart 8
Ok that's way too much GBA tracks(I'll promise the best retro track is not a GBA track). In this one, the cheese makes tons of shortcuts, now done with gliders, and the chain chomp was really creative. The holes in the track instead of being a nuisance are actually enjoyable, and it's a fun remake

2. GBA Ribbon Road - Mario Kart 8
Fine I'll stop with the GBA tracks after this one. In this remake, although the music became a surf song(which felt morally wrong), this track is the best Mario Kart 8 Track in the DLC, simply because of the amount of love Nintendo poured on this track.

1. GCN Sherbet Land - Mario Kart 8
See, the last one isn't a GBA one, it's a GC one. Sherbet Land had a massive upgrade as 33% of the track is new, and the other 66% is less slippery and there are some hilly shortcuts, and the freezies aren't a-holes anymore

Now the worst

5. GCN Mushroom Bridge - DS
Now it's another typical Toad's Turnpike track. Who sucked the life out of this track? The DS limitations ruined all the Double Dash tracks

4. Wii Koopa Cape - 3DS
Honestly, Mario Kart 7 scrapped the charming parts of most Wii tracks(e.g. the Mushroom Cave, the escalators), and they were still decently enjoyable. But Koopa Cape was the most ruined. Why the funk would you place a glider for the water section? It would've been better in the beginning! And then what happened to the pipe section? That entire section was ruined! This track became really mediocre after the life got sucked out of it

3. Wii Wario's Goldmine - Mario Kart 8
This one is debatable as either the minecarts being nice a good thing or a bad thing. I believe it's a bad thing. The entire difficulty and charm of Wario's track vanished, and why was that random section placed where the halfpipe should've been? That's messed up. And now all the AI's are smart to take the shortcut route through the mines, bruh.

2. GCN Waluigi Stadium - Wii
Honestly, they got rid of the difficulty, Nintendo's listening to the casual players too much. The half-pipes were dumb as heck, and the jumps being trickable was stupid.

1. N64 Royal Raceway - Mario Kart 8
Now we have the biggest downgrade. Bye bye peach's castle. No more track exploration the N64 way, and here we have the worst remake.

What are your thoughts on this list?

MK8 GBA Sky Garden:
The Layout is Messed Up.
They Ruined the Track.
The Ultra Shortcut is removed.
And... They Don't Like GBA tracks.

I forgor sky garden was a thing in Mario Kart 8, then yeah that is the worst. I mean N64 Royal Raceway is one of my least favorite tracks and also one of the most overrated just because of Mario Kart 64's exploration thing

Now we have the biggest downgrade. Bye bye peach's castle. No more track exploration the N64 way, and here we have the worst remake.

What are your thoughts on this list?

What ?
Let me mention, it's only my opinion, but you did Royal Raceway super dirty...
The track is pretty fun to play, it's not as annoyingly long as before, it has received a MASSIVE VISUAL UPGRADE (it feels cute, pinkish and spring-like now, so the "royal aspect was upgraded".

Also, letting the players enter the castle path would have sucked for the MK8 remake. The purpose was having an Easter Egg in MK64, related to SM64, just like Petey Piranha from Sunshine, who next got in MKDD...

Also, I don't see what's the problem with Koopa Cape, being the absolute same, or with Wario's Gold Line, which is just more fun now ? It was so hard to not scrap the turn, then the slope,  because the slope was super steep. It was just unfun and not a great thing. I agree, it deletes some challenge to have the harmless minecarts, but idk, I don't feel like it's that bad of a thing, I didn't came here to try hard, but to have fun. For Waluigi Stadium they didn't took a dumb decision, you can miss the half pipe and then take the pipe in your face, aside from that it's very similar, and honestly, it's a great thing that Nintendo listens to casual players  we don't need a pro Mario Kart where you have to be super skilled in the Flower Cup.
A C C E S S I B I L I T Y. Even if you were pro, would it mean everyone wants to enjoy to play at the level you enjoy to play ? No.

For Mushroom Bridge I 100% agree though.

However, let's not bash Nintendo for things they did well. they already did too much bad things, if we start to complain about what's good, we will never be happy about what they do, while they're still a pretty good company somehow.

Ok, I rushed a bit there in the end, probably DS Baby Park for No. 2 and GBA Sky Garden MK8 for No. 1. Baby Park was a bad choice for the DS' limitations and GBA Sky Garden lost its charm. I just chose random retro tracks for the last two since I rushed it. :p :s

- MK8's SNES RR lost its difficulty, and what's more, it's a nearly exact copy of MK7's other than with slightly improved graphics. The track itself isn't that good of a track anyway, although it is the second best SNES track in MKPC in my opinion. But this topic is not about MKPC so yeah.

- As for MK8DX's N64 Kalimari Desert - I like the idea of crossing it with Tour's Kalimari Desert 2, but the "N64" in the name is a lie. If I were naming the track I would call it "Tour Kalimari Desert 1-2". There's also a weird glitch where you can see the CPUs literally floating in midair if you wait long enough on the first section near the second traintracks. They should have fixed that lol. Honestly the track isn't bad but I wouldn't consider it retro

- I agree that DS Baby Park is bad. It lost its chaotic-ness. You just feel like you're driving on a big boring oval.

Ok time to write a lot...

Best remakes:

5. GBA Sunset Wilds on MKT
This remake got rid of what the original did wrong, which was being too long and too boring. Now each section is unique, and the cutdown of the layout was pretty good. It's only at 5 because the track itself was never spectacular.

4. GBA Cheese Land on MK8
Great remake conceptually and aesthetically, the only problem with the track is that it feels too bagging based given the 2 glider ramps at the end, otherwise this remake is awesome.

3. GBA Boo Lake on MKT
It got released not too long ago, but really improved on the original. The underwater section is really cool. I guess not every GBA remake gets destroyed anymore.

2. DS Shroom Ridge on MK8DX
Aside from the ugly mountain design (but I never really cared for the simple BCP aesthetics anyway, it's overhated), this remake is just stunning. This is my all time personal favourite remake by Nintendo because it just plays so well, and the music is perfection. I want to put this at #1, but it didn't change too much from the original.

N64 Choco Mountain on MK8DX/MKT
Out of all of the Nintendo remakes, this one takes the original track an uses it to its full potential. It's got pretty much everything you would ask for in a remake.

Tracks that could've made this list:
- Wii Grumble Volcano on MK8 (the original was already good tho)
- N64 Royal Raceway on MK8 (someone mentioned this earlier saying how the remake is bad because you can't go into the castle, that's completely player bias imo, the track itself plays amazingly and tbh the castle area didn't matter)
- GBA Bowser Castle 3 on MKWii (it didn't change much from the original, but also didn't need to since it was so fun anyway)
- SNES Donut Plains 3 on MK8 (compared to the original, this is amazing, but the track itself isn't too interesting)
- GBA Snow Land on MK8DX (cool revamp of the original)
There's a lot more, but this post is already long enough

Worst remakes:

5. GBA Cheep Cheep Island on MKT
Other than the one new section which is actually pretty cool, the rest of the track is really bland, especially the beginning. There's almost nothing happening in it, and a lot of the small islands got destroyed.

4. Wii Koopa Cape on MK7
The track itself isn't bad, but the remake removed what made the track climactic. The rapids section feels so slow and the underwater tunnel got destroyed. I don't really mind the glider ramp, but I think having it as an option would be better.

3. GBA Sky Garden on MK8DX/MKT
It's a terrible remake of the original track, having half the layout butchered. I personally don't think it's a terrible track, it's pretty fun on 200cc. But this list is for judging remakes, so I have to put it here even if I don't want to.

2. SNES Choco Island 2 on MKDS
It's a bad track, and this remake didn't do anything to fix the annoying gameplay.

1. GCN Baby Park on MKDS
This one is super obvious. The track itself isn't that great, but this takes the cake when it comes to boring tracks. There's literally nothing to keep it interesting.

Tracks that could've made this list:
- Maple Treeway on 3DS (same logic with Koopa Cape, it got rid of the net, but it wasn't bad enough to make the top 5)
- Literally any SNES Rainbow Road (at least it's good in 200cc on MK8 )
- Toad's Turnpike on MK8 (it didn't make it more interesting compared to the original other than the aesthetics, but it just suffers from Toad's Turnpike syndrome (i.e. the original was bad))

Remakes I think are interesting to discuss:
- Wii Coconut Mall on MK8DX/MKT (i know it's not like the original, but hating on the new aesthetic doesn't make the track bad. and people complain about the escalators being different, but disregard the fact that it was designed for newer players too)
- SNES Mario Circuit 3 on MK8DX (people say it's the worst in the BCP so far, but we dodged a bullet since we got a better SNES track)

I've tried to keep bias out of this list, which is probably evident in some decisions. Tell me what you think ;)
