do you unlock characters by getting 1st place on the grand prixs?
If you want to know, to get about half the characters, you get trophies in the main grand prix cups, and to get the rest, you have to get trophies in custom track multicups.

oh, ok. thanks. I was doing the normal cups but couldn't unlock the others; I thought I just didn't do it enough times or smth
