[Fanfic] - The Dark Ages of MKPC

New attempt at a fanfic I did in 2024. The concept is apocalyptic so the fanfic might include death, violence, thief, crimes, blood, threats, murder, etc.

This means MKPC Archipel is put on hiatus for now.

This fanfic will only require 5 more people than it has now. To join, you need to give me the name you want to be reffered to as, the color you want to have, and your personality. No species other than human and no special abilities such as I can fly, I can teleport, I can become invisible etc.

That's about it lol

Prologue: Humans Are...

Humans are not perfect.

Tallulah : Can't you just leave me alone right now? I said I need space, so stop trying to get me to talk.
Adrian : You know I didn't mean any harm, right?
Tallulah : It is not about you. I just need some time to myself, and you are not letting me breathe. Please, leave me alone.
Adrian : But I am genuinely concerned, I am trying to look out for--
Tallulah : I DON'T CARE! GO AWAY!
Adrian : Sigh...

Humans are beings who make mistakes.

Invu : I'm genuinely trying to become a better person. I am trying to improve. You just don't see it. You see me at my lowest and assume it is the entirety of what I am. It is not.
Nodac : I get it bro, but you rarely show me concrete proof that you're improving, so how am I supposed to believe you?

Humans are selfish.

Nudge : I do not give a single fuck about what you went through. In fact, it is meaningless in my eyes. I am not going to compromise my success just so I can be of help to you. It would be a waste anyways.
Indiario : No need to write me an essay, I understood. Have a nice day I guess.

Humans are different.

T : Eh, I just don't get it. Your music taste will always remain confusing to me. Sorry, I genuinely tried.
Aphelion : It's okay, we all have different preferences. Nothing wrong with that.

But after all, humans all bleed red.
And that is why humans are...

United in hardships.

??? : Hi MKPC. Jake here, with news from all over the country. Several buldings have been destroyed. Criminality has severely arised. Many people have been held hostage or even murdered this last couple of days. We advise you to stay home and suspend your activities, even work, as of right now, due to the current condition of the country. It is now unsafe to get out as your mere life might end up being compromised. So lock your doors, and please stay home. Hopefully, we find a solution to make a change and build a future for not only us, but also the generations that we will leave our legacy to.

Invu : This looks absolutely terrible. It keeps getting worse and worse. There are no good news since a long while. It's so dangerous the entire country has to be put on lockdown.

Tallulah : We have to find a solution. We can't just stay here to rot until the criminals decide to prey on us.

After the news resonated through the entire country, many groups formed.

Some were uniting to cause harm. Because the more you are, the easier it is to cause harm.

Some, however, decided to join forces, and live together to try protecting each others' lives.

Humans are people who are free of their own decisions. Some might suffer from the consequences later on, but that does not stop them from making such choices.

With the same strength, they aim for different goals.

But the most important thing about humans...

Humans are neither black or white.

Black Glass Tavern, 6:34PM

Tallulah : This used to belong to an old friend of mine. Sadly, she recently left the country, as she was growingly worried regarding her mental health due to the conditions we currently live under. Before leaving, she gave me the keys of this place. It's not the best place you can live in, but at least there's enough space for everyone.
Nudge : This place looks particularly old. Also, where are we going to sleep?
Tallulah : Forgot to mention this. She used to live here with her family and close friends, so there are beds. We might need to clean the place up before we settle here though.
Nudge : Well, this isn't ideal, but it is better than nothing I guess.
Adrian : I'm feeling a bit skeptical... there are bugs and spiders all over the ceiling, and everything looks like it's about to collapse... I don't mean to be disrespectful, but...
Invu : Well, we're going to clean the place up as she said, and then maybe it'll look a bit more appealing.

They then started cleaning, but not even 20 minutes after, the underlying issues became clear and the place looked full of safety hazards.

Aphelion : I don't mean to worry anyone, and this is certainly better than nothing, but there are exposed electrical wires right next to dysfunctioning water pipes. The whole thing is also built of wood. This is a huge safety issue.
Adrian : Are you serious? We should get out of here now!
Nodac : Yeah man, there is a lot of space as she said, but this whole place seems extremely dangerous. I'm not sleeping here, for all we know this could very well burn down all of a sudden.
Indiario : Me neither. No offense but I think we're better off in our own homes for now.
Kein : I mean, this place also looks rather unhygienic...
SwimmerExpert : Yeah. I'm out of here, sorry. Don't wanna risk anything.

Slowly, everyone but Silley, Tallulah, Invu, Aphelion and Adrian left, feeling the safety issues were endangering their life.

Invu : I mean I'm not gonna leave but they certainly are right, this place at the moment is dangerous. Before we settle down, we have to fix the major safety issues. The more minor ones, we can take care of later.
Silley : Yeah I agree. I'm okay with staying here but we should at least make sure we can sleep without risking our life.
Adrian : Uhm... to be honest, I don't know why I stayed...
Tallulah : Then you can leave. Nobody is forcing you to stay.
Adrian : I don't mean to be disrespectful to you... but still, this place is dangerous! It's obvious!
Tallulah : I mean obviously it's a bit unsafe, but it's the best I could find. Wish people could appreciate the effort.
Adrian : Listen, we do, but--
Tallulah : You don't need to repeat yourself, I get the place is dangerous. But I couldn't find anything better, and I feel bad because I myself know this isn't ideal, but can't people see that I tried to find something, a solution?
Silley : They do, and I get you're frustrated, but we have to fix some things. Let's get to it instead of engaging in pointless debates. The situation is already bad enough as it is, let's not worsen it by arguing.

And so, they started fixing the place.

Invu : I disabled electricity. We have flashlights, the fridge is trashed either way, and it's too dangerous for now.
Adrian : Wait, but then how are we supposed to charge our phones?
Invu : We don't for now. We'll figure something out later but for now let's prioritize our safety.
Aphelion : I went into the bathroom to use it, and it's in a catastrophic state. The water is full of bacteria and bugs, moss has developed. We should clean it.
Tallulah : Let's get to it I guess...

Brooke Square Apartments, 8:20PM

Indiario : Someone keeps ringing the doorbell. Can you go answer?
SwimmerExpert : Sure...

As SwimmerExpert opened the door, a tall figure appeared in front of him.

??? : You know what I came here for. Don't waste my time and give me what you owe me right now.
SwimmerExpert : Can't you leave us alone already? I told you we are in a bad financial condition at the moment. I know we owe you two hundred dollars for the apartment. We will pay you once we can. At the moment, we cannot.
??? : I think I've been lenient enough. You've been telling me this for two months. Do you take me for a fool?
Indiario : What's going on over there? You again? I thought we told you. Both our jobs don't pay off enough, our income is extremely low. We cannot pay right now. Please let us have a shelter, a place to live and sleep.
??? : Bullshit. You know how the world is. I need the money right now. You're manipulating me to wait longer and longer, but there comes a time where I just can't wait anymore. Give me my money right now or you can say goodbye to this place.
SwimmerExpert : Just one more month. Please. It's only-- gets slapped across the face ARGH! What is wrong with you?
??? : I'm not having it. I said RIGHT NOW.
Indiario : Alright, I'll see if we have some savings left...
??? : You better have what I'm asking for. If you don't, you know what's happening next.

Indiario started to rummage through the house, searching for any money left. He was not finding any, and the man was getting impatient. He felt fear seep through his bones more than ever before, his future was determined by whether he was gonna find something or not.

Indiario : whispering Damn it! Why isn't there anything? Where did our savings go? sees an envelope OH! RIGHT THERE!

He opened the envelope. It said "all of the money we have left". He found exactly two hundred dollars inside of it. He came back to the door and gave the envelope to the man.

??? : Let's see... Fifty... Seventy... One hundred and twenty... One hundred and eighty... Two hundred! See! Was it so hard? Have a good day, and don't forget to gather enough money to pay me next month too.

As the man left, Indiario and SwimmerExpert let out the breath they were holding. For now, they managed to pay the man, but were they going to be able to do so next month?

Ten meters above, a completely different story was unfolding...

Brooke Square Apartments' Rooftop, 8:27PM

T : I'm so tired of this place... it feels like the whole world is against us. We do have a place to sleep, sure, but our daily routine sucks just as much. I don't wanna go to work tomorrow. I don't wanna work for anyone, let alone this country. I'm so tired.
Kein : Come on, let's go to sleep. You'll be exhausted tomorrow if we don't go now.
T : Can't you try to help me out or something? At least pretend you care? If you're going to say this just go away. Leave me alone right now.
Kein : Well, there's pretty much nothing I can personnally do. I care about you still, that's why I'm trying to be rational and give you advice.
T : Don't you get it? Time and place.
Kein : Sorry... I'm trying to help you out as much as I can, you know.

Waterbridge Pool, 9:00PM

Nodac : Uh... bro, you sure this is a good idea?
Nudge : Well for now we are out of money to buy any food. Do you want to starve?
Nodac : Out of all things we could steal from... a pool? What are you even thinking?
Nudge : Trust me. There's barely any security here, compared to other places we could get food from.

As they managed to get in, they headed to the vending machine, which only had two drinks and two sandwiches in it.

Nudge : This is just enough. See? You can trust me.
Nodac : Damn, I never thought we would succeed--
??? : Stop right here! Don't even think about trying to run away!
Nodac : Oh shit... man, let's run.

Nodac and Nudge ran away until the police lost track of them. They arrived on the same rooftop on which the previous events unfolded fourty minutes ago.

Nudge : See, we have something to eat. And a place to sleep.
Nodac : Damn, thank you. Never would have came up with such plan.

They all live different lives.

Some were pushed into the one they chose, due to their life condition.

But none of them are inherently evil.

They are all just trying to survive.

Same goal, different ways.

Staying alive and continue walking,  even through the storm.
