Okay, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding of my opinion. Now, this same game has done millions for a dozen years. Back then, it was pretty empty and basic. But now, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is probably what people think of when they hear "Mario Kart". Even though I think of Mario Kart Wii, but I digress. MK8DX has 71.53 units sold, and the game engine in particular started during E3 2013.
