Why Would They Add the Sunset Gimmick and Not Have Sunset in The Name? It Is Probably Named After the Gimmick of The Course. Cheep-Cheep Island Isn't Called Sunset Island Because Of The Big Fish in The Background
Your reasonment is quite interesting this time, but two things :
- both explanations can work
- they could as well have called it Shy Guy Wilds, because there is also a Shy Guy gimmick, but Sunset Wilds sounds better, however you don't know if they didn't add the sun setting as a side gimmick after they actually did the sun skybox. Think about it, the track is pretty boring. There's some Shy Guys to dodge but that's it, and some mud. Adding the sunset would have been a good decision in that case. Think about it, not much people talked about YD while YD is as the same level as SW without the sunset from the GBA version. YD is forgotten, literally. Why ? Because it's quite empty and it's another desert track, but without a sun setting. Subjectively it lost a bit of its charm, objectively well whatever.

Reviewing every track from the BCP
1. Paris Promenade (low C)
Quite boring to be honest, even if it's a nice tribute to my country. The garden is very ugly and the track feels too wide and long. Lap 3 has a nice twist though.
2. Toad Circuit (low F)
So boring in every possible aspect, looks like utter plastic and the gameplay is not there neither. Worst track of the BCP.
3. Choco Mountain (low B)
Not bad, the graphics aren't that bad and the track, even if it's a pure ripoff, is much better than the original.
4. Coconut Mall (mid A)
A good track, it looks qiite vibrant with many beautiful textures. Still cannot hold up that much against latest releases, but it blew most of the first wave out of the water.
5. Tokyo Blur (low C)
Boring track to be honest, would have had more potential if it was nighttime.
6. Shroom Ridge (high B)
Fun track with fun shortcuts and satisfying gameplay, however it still looks bad.
7. Sky Garden (low E)
Still looks better than the Tour version, but extremely boring, basic and could have used more effort.
8. Ninja Hideaway (low S)
Lirerally the most detailed out of Wave 1, fun gameplay, good visuals, many paths and a very original theming, making this track one of the top tiers
Wave 1 (high D/mid D)
9. New York Minute (high C)
Quite boring but overall it's still better than both Wave 1 cities
10. Mario Circuit 3 (low C)
Quite boring but it has many shortcuts to pull of so it's okay
11. Kalimari Desert (low A)
The track was simple by itself but the fact it dares to change every lap gives a whole reskin of everything, making this a very great track
12. Waluigi Pinball (mindblowing C)
Welp, it's still boring and overrated, but the visual job is insane and I can't deny that no matter what. Congrats Waluigi Pinball, here you are nearing the B.
13. Sydney Sprint (mid S)
So detailed, original, interesting, literally mindblowing. Prolly the best Wave 2 track
14. Snow Land (high B)
A fair track with remake additions without being too original, still a visual revamp and a cool remake.
15. Mushroom Gorge (mindblowing B)
Not the most interesting or original track, but it does everything right, mixing the best of both versions, so that's very good for me
16. Sky-High Sundae (low B)
Theming is great and I love tricking, but there's too much of that, and it's quite boring, still pretty good though
Wave 2 (mindblowing B/high B)
17. London Loop (high A)
The music went from cooking oil to actual bri'ish fries. Good looking track, even if it's nothing mindblowing.
18. Boo Lake (low A)
Bro this glew up, also the water is magnificent. Still, they are saving the mindblowing things for later.
19. Rock Rock Mountain (deep A)
It eventually grew on me with time, wasn't fond of it at first but it's got nice shortcuts in the second half, although the first half is quite boring
20. Maple Treeway (low S)
Everything is fine, maybe they could have followed MG's scheme and have the best of both if they kept the net, but whatever, it does not ruin the track, who looks mindblowing. A true banger, true to its colors and magnificent.
21. Berlin Byways (mindblowing S)
A very hard and complicated city track for the late cup of the first half. Very nice, the music is a literal BANGER, and it's got nice variation, nice shortcuts, the track is really good overall.
22. Peach Gardens (high A)
A glowup, looks really great now, and the idea of changing at third lap was really good, including flying over the whole thing. Now that the bushes are less sight disturbing the section is much funnier to play and the graphics are beautiful.
23. Merry Mountain (mid A)
What did we expect for literal... Christmas ? A nice track with nice visuals, a grand feel when you get down and a nice feeling when you're climbing all the way up. I love the feel, and there are some nice shortcuts too.
24. Rainbow Road (mindblowing SS)
Looks so good, this is the purest rainbow texture I have ever seen, the neon blue just looks great and the road looks so much better than in the base game (eerie stars instead of realistic electric glowing glass) the gameplay is really fun too, the original was really great but I don't even have the words for this. C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S.
Wave 3 (high A)
25. Amsterdam Drift (high S)
Looks really pretty, has a lot of variation and it looks like a quaint little Delfino square-like city track. Overall felt really like the soring, which was the season during which it got out.
26. Riverside Park (low S)
This looks stunning. True grey rocks, magnificent textures, this track glows. It took Tour's improvements and did some pretty fucking visual job on top of it, which makes this track mindblowing.
27. DK Summit (deep S)
Not very original and lufht be flawed, but still a satisfying banger nonetheless.. damn
28. Yoshi Island (mindblowing SS)
explanation for Yoshi Island and the rest tomorrow because I'm about to fall asleep

Booster Course Pass tier list:
Maple Treeway Is Not Top Tier, There Are too Many Tight Turns And The Music In 8DX Is Horrible, Not To Mention They Replaced The Net With a Glider In 7 Which Is a Horrible Choice.
Cope honestly, the net deletion might be a flaw but it's not as terrible as y'all make it to be. The tight turns too, I think they're fine and the music isn't "horrible", and anyways music is only a small part of the experience, still a a S for me, maybe not a SS but it's not that bad, at least not as much as you try to make it to be.

I literally couldn't find the DS CCB theme again, and I even confuse them with Cheep Cheep Lagoon sometimes 💀 I manage to remember PB and CCL but once I heard one of them, whatever if I listened to CCB on ten hours for repeat. And my mind has much more important things to focus on
