No, this is not a topic to complain about the current state of the community because I promised I would not do that again - instead, it's my take on an ongoing situation that has started three years ago. I'll lock the topic once I'm done, that way it cannot start anything.
The concept of trends
I think pretty much everybody has already followed a trend in their life, including me. Going with the flow and doing what the majority is doing is the easiest way out, because when you decide to be daring and try to do something else than other people, you can be seen as a pick me or receive backlash for doing so. However, if nobody followed a trend, it would not be a trend...
How trends build themselves
Trends just appear out of the blue most of the time. They use something that has the potential to be popular and blow up on the Internet or in real life. They use something original so that it feels refreshing, without being too daring as well. It is pretty much a question of luck. Some people are popular, which mean they can set trends just by the blink of an eye. Others will try millions of times and will flop over and over again.
How to be original
When you want to participate in a trend, simply following the pattern will make it quite boring after a while. If you are one of the first to follow it, you can pass, but if you arrive after thousands of people have already done it, you have to make your take on the trend stand out. That is called a twist. Something that will make your take different than the others. And something that will make you stand out.

The trends on MKPC take on a whole new level : it's either cool or simple concepts that start a "trend", or on the opposite, particularly daring actions that one member can do.
For example :
- Ask me Anything : This trend comes back almost every year since 2020-2021. The concept is really simple, it's a FAQ. And everybody wants to have one. But the truth is that after some time, some people only do one because it's the ongoing fashion, and that results in getting always the same questions such as "what is your favorite food?" For this "trend", there is almost no way to be original. People ask you questions and you answer. At some point, 9 of the 10 latest topics were AMAs. The fact with this trend though, is that it dies out pretty quickly. Even if no member complains or nitpicks (me), the topics will eventually become bland and will die after a short time.
- Fanfics : Making a fanfic is okay, but I have heard some people say that they made a competition-like fanfic just because everyone was doing it. That makes the fanfic bland, first and foremost, and then die, after two or three episodes.
- Bird sounds : Now that's a really annoying "trend", I cannot comprehend how it even became one. There's always someone with the freaky, 30-letter long username, but honestly. Why did everybody follow it ? It honestly is harmless, but come on. This is the example of a more daring trend. Nobody has to bring a twist, because it already is a lot, so everybody ends up doing complete garbage lmao
- Gradients : They have been here since forever. It was something that only pros of BBCode would use, but when everyone learnt about it, it kind of lost its charms. Especially when the bisexual gradient got plastered all over everything or when people used gradients as a way to hide the fact that they were posting the most random, irrelevant stuff ever.

Okay so first, I don't accept your apology and I don't think I ever will, but you're still young, young and VERY dumb (the old account you found back said you are 10 I think ?) obviously this is NOT an excuse, you really fucked up the whole thing and... yeah you made it about cancer which was probably one of the worst subjects possible
Also you obviously DON'T deserve to die for some "stupid" lie on a forum which mainly has people of your age, and you don't deserve to literally hurt yourself because of that, I can talk from experience 1 year ago I totally lost my mind on discord one day and said some REALLY fucked up stuff about suicide (i'm not suicidal at all i'm literally afraid of death 💀), somehow the consequences weren't nowhere close to be bad (the worst thing was a one week timeout on a discord server lol) but I still learned from this (wait actually no I did the same shit forget everything I said) but anyways, this ban (2 months from what i've heard ?) should let you breathe, idk if a comeback is a good thing but yeah since it was still very serious and the fact I don't think many people will trust you again... Just remember it's still a silly website made by a french student in 2010, and it's still updated even though the former student is now 30 years old lol, it's very hypocrite from me but don't take some things too seriously, it will always end up very bad, I can talk from experience

On one hand, I'm relieved to know that nobody actually died. On the other hand, this whole thing makes me feel sick to my stomach. As someone who has lost several loved ones to cancer, the fact that you even considered it to be something that you could easily say and go through with is disgusting.
But...
I myself did something very insensitive only a couple of months ago. If I could grow from those terrible decisions in my life, then I believe that you can too.
I know that I said I'd ghost you if you were lying, and I still will(for a while, at least). But you're a kid, you've got a lot of time to get your life together. I don't forgive you, but I do support you. Regardless of if you return or not, here's to hoping that you grow from this ordeal. The fact that you admitted that you were wrong is a good start.
Also nobody deserves to die except for psychopaths and rapists, even then some of those people are mentally unwell and should've been getting treatment to prevent them from doing things like that in the first place. You affected some people very strongly, made them miserable - and now angry - for days. And you tried to carry it on even when it failed.
But at the same time, I don't think it's worth getting all worked up about. We on MKPC are always too gullible and eager for drama. I think we almost deserved this. It's better to take things slow and think about what we say and think, especially where the internet is involved. This goes for you - with things like your prank, and for the rest of us, falling head over heels for lies.
So, while I can't speak for everyone here I'm willing to let this drop. Some of the others were friends with you - making them think you'd died was cruel.
