I feel like Nin**** took the Mario Kart out of the Mario Kart series.
I feel like it's really disappointing with all these new mechanics, track transfers, and much more. It's fun yeah, but really it just doesn't feel like mario kart anymore, especially the artstyle.
Just sit down and think about it for a second, I really feel like they just took out the mario kart in the mario kart series.

Once people stop aimlessly following the crowd like a lost sheep and realise that intermission tracks aren't actually as bad as people say they are, and consider all the possibilities these new mechanics bring, they might also come to realise that Mario Kart World is more Mario Kart than ever

I suppose you do have a point with it staying away from the traditional format, but I think there's like nothing better Nintendo could've done if they just made another traditional Mario Kart. MK8DX was pretty much a perfected version of the format, with its only major letdown being the graphics of the Booster Course Pass, which was likely rushed so people have content before Mario Kart World. The only major issues with World that I see are VR matchmaking and the discouragement of 3lap, but it makes sense. Nintendo made a large open world so they ofc don't want people to ONLY play 3lap online, but an increased frequency of 3lap would be nice

Not to diminish your opinion or anything, but I feel like there are many reasons as to why this is a step in the right direction for Mario Kart, despite its flaws. Hopefully the next one is a Mario Kart Maker

Idk man MKWorld was the most fun I've had in a while. In my opinion, a franchise that manages to reach 30 years old inevitably has to reinvent itself over time so people don't grow too tired of it. I think them actually adding new gimmicks, characters, and stepping up the graphics are a good thing. The video game industry is moving, and I don't think we should expect Nintendo to just remain in the same spot while everyone else's moving forward. MKWorld's artstyle also felt more Mario Kart-ish to me than MK8DX's did, although I also loved that artstyle too, it was just different and perhaps slightly less fitting. But it was also made this way to show the Switch's capacities in terms of graphics. This same example can be applied to Wonder after Odyssey.

It's like that MKWorld is like a different game from all of the other Mario Kart games but I can see where you are going. I feel like new mechanics introduced by MKWorld are cool mechanics that make the game stand out a lot, but I agree with your opinion of MKWorld's new artstyle. I've always thought that the artstyle of MK8 was more polished, not to say that MKWorld has a bad artstyle. Is it just me, or is it that I think drifting has always looked weird in MKWorld compared to other Mario Kart games?
