Hello,
So if I can justify the fact that I spammed, I have a good reason:
Given the size of the fanfic, I had to divide it into four parts because the forum couldn't accept it in one single part, so I divided it. In my opinion, this isn't spamming, but I wanted to let you know just in case.
In any case, enjoy reading the fanfic.

Epilogue :
They were five.
Five who had struck down the Lakitu chief, five who had survived where so many others had fallen. Wounded, forever marked, they stayed together, guiding the nameless and rebuilding—stone by stone—the island of the Yoshis, which would never again know the horrors of war.
Totovideo was elected mayor, honored for his wisdom and for the humor that could soothe even the deepest wounds.
Roxas became the island’s greatest warrior, a living symbol of courage and light.
Mark, ever the loyal strategist and builder, opened the island’s first hotel—welcoming travelers and former soldiers alike, giving each a home and a story to tell.
UK, despite his scars, became the keeper of memory: he watched over the archives, telling the younger generations about the war, reminding them of the importance of forgiveness and rebuilding.
T, quiet yet essential, was entrusted with the statues and monuments—ensuring that every name, every face, every sacrifice remained carved into both stone and hearts.
Together, they founded the Yoshi & Shy Guy Alliance—a new brotherhood, open to all, a symbol of unity and reconciliation.
In the center of the great square, a massive mural depicted the “20 Soldiers”: the five survivors in front, the fifteen fallen behind them, all honored with equal dignity. Bill, the traitor, was there too—his presence a reminder of the lesson his betrayal had taught them.
At every place where one of the fifteen heroes had fallen, a statue was raised; on every stone, their names engraved—so that memory would never fade.
Funerals worthy of heroes were held. The nameless and the fallen soldiers received the same honors: the war had made no distinction between the great and the humble.
Years passed.
The War of the Alliance entered legend.
Almost a century later, the tale of the five was still told:
Roxas died at the age of 95, surrounded by the new generation, passing on his counsel to preserve the peace. His peaceful end, after a lifetime reflecting on war, embodied redemption and the transmission of hard-earned wisdom.
Mark passed away at 81, in the hotel that had become a place of remembrance.
Totovideo left at 90, mourned by all for his kindness.
UK lived to 92, falling asleep peacefully in a retirement home, a history book in his hand.
T departed in his sleep at 87, after one last round watching over the statues.
Until their final breath, they lived in peace, honoring each year the memory of their fallen brothers-in-arms.
The island of the Yoshis—rebuilt on forgiveness, solidarity, and remembrance—became a symbol for the entire continent: even after the darkest night, the light can rise again… if we never forget those who made the dawn possible.
PS: The Fate of James :
After the Yoshis’ first retreat, James broke away from the group, choosing to run alone rather than continue the war he refused to fight. UK, the last to see him alive, confirmed that James had wanted to flee and never return to battle. But UK had ignored his calls for desertion—a choice that led many to brand James a coward.
The Yoshis and Shy Guys searched for him for a long time, but his trail was never found. It was only three years after the war that his body was discovered at the site of an old Lakitu ambush—unrecognizable. Thanks to Totovideo and Roxas, who pleaded his case, James was eventually acknowledged and added to the great commemorative mural.
A funeral was held: a simple yet dignified ceremony, bringing together former comrades and strangers alike, to honor him despite the lingering doubts about his past.
A statue was erected at the place where he had fallen, and five years later, the site became a memorial park. Today, James is honored as one of the other heroes, and his memory is revered by all.
The Fate of the Lakitus :
When the dust of battle finally settled and silence returned to the island, the question arose: what would become of the Lakitus?
They had been the enemy—bringers of storms and lightning, responsible for so many tears and so much spilled blood. Yet not all of them had chosen that path of their own will.
At first, Totovideo refused to hear their pleas. Some Lakitus, guilty of still plotting to break the Yoshi–Shy Guy alliance, were thrown into prison. Those who begged for forgiveness remained behind bars, for Totovideo’s heart was not yet ready to forgive.
They stayed there for a year, until the day UK uncovered the truth: it had not been they who decided to wage war, but their leader—blinded by pride and the hunger for power.
Then Totovideo made his choice. The prison doors opened, and the Lakitus, now calmed, stepped into the sunlight. They knelt before the Shy guys and the Yoshis, swearing never again to raise arms against them.
A pact was signed: United Lakitus, a solemn vow etched into history, symbol of a new alliance.
Some Lakitus chose to remain on the island. They repaired ruined houses, rebuilt bridges, and worked side by side with those they had once fought. Others returned to their homelands, carrying with them the memory of a war they never wished to see repeated.
When some asked to burn the body of the Lakitu chief, the Yoshis refused.
\"Let him rest here,\" they said, \"among all who fell on this island.\"
And so his body was placed in the memorial museum, alongside both heroes and foes, so that no one would ever forget the price of hatred.
Years passed. Peace returned. Thanks to T’s intervention, the Lakitus were granted the right to visit the museum and honor their dead. That day, there were no shouts, no weapons—only flowers laid gently, and silent tears.
And so, the story of the Lakitus ended not in the clash of battle, but in the soothing murmur of waves against the shores of Yoshi’s Island. Yoshis, Shy guys, and Lakitus lived side by side, bound by a shared past, and united in their resolve to protect the future.
P.P.S.: The Deeds of the Fallen :
If every name carved into the great mural is revered today, it is because each, in their own way, left a mark on history through courage, selflessness, or sacrifice.
Chris stood in the way during the final assault, shielding his comrades at the cost of his own life.
Jassy, struck down by the Lakitus, held his position until the very end to allow the group to retreat.
Coshi was killed by Illia, yet remained a key figure throughout the war and even beyond.
Jalon, after Coshi’s death, tried to reason with Bill and paid with his life for his loyalty to the group.
Soshi sacrificed himself to divert a poisonous attack, sparing his friends.
BlueCore and SillyCringeh resisted the enemy together, refusing to surrender even in the face of death.
Yoshi LOVER defended the civilians until his final breath, refusing to abandon anyone.
Illia led decisive counterattacks, turning the tide of several battles.
Glitched saved an entire battalion by luring the enemy toward himself, a move that cost him his life.
Jay was the first to fall, tragically inspiring the group’s revolt and unity.
Nommanic Folloreht warned that the Lakitus were the true enemies of the war.
UltraToad- held a key position, enabling the survivors to break through.
James, long misunderstood, is now honored for his attempt to preserve life—a reminder that courage takes many forms.
Bill, despite his betrayal, is also cited as a reminder that history is built upon both light and shadow.
A few years later, Yoshi’s Island was renamed Memoria, a land dedicated to remembering the fallen and celebrating the peace they had secured. In its museum, the bodies of the twenty soldiers—and all the heroes who had fallen or passed away from old age—rest for eternity, reminding all who visit of the price of freedom.
Each of these heroes contributed, through their actions or their choices, to the group’s survival and the final victory. This is why they are honored, and why their memory lives on through the mural, the statues, and the stories passed down to future generations.

Following the Yoshis' success over Baby Bowser, the Shy Guys, driven to the inhospitable outskirts of the island, had to survive in harsh conditions. Humiliated and driven by a deep desire for revenge, they decided to unite to take revenge on the Yoshis, preparing in the shadows for the return of the conflict.
Chapter 1
All the Yoshis were proceeding rapidly towards the cave.
- Look, a spear stuck in the ground... whispered one of them.
No sooner had they reacted than another spear slammed down in front of them.
Without a moment thought, they all began to run with all their might.
- Jassy! Are you okay? YoshiLOVER shouted, turning around.
- I fell... Can you help me?
- Of course I can!
- The cave's here! shouted Mark, out of breath.
One by one, the Yoshis reached the cave, none of them injured.
Mark leaned against a huge boulder.
- I\'ll push it to block the entrance. The Shy Guys won't get through.
Months went by.
The cave became a veritable village, a refuge for all the Yoshis.
The Shy Guys thought they had won.
But, in the shadows, an idea was taking shape among the Yoshis...
Chapter 2
The Shy Guy Team camp lay at the foot of the hill, out of sight. Ten figures masked in mystery, each unique, formed a circle around the campfire. It was their moment to rest, but the tension was palpable.
The head, Roxas_971, tapped nervously on his mask.
- Do they really think they can get away from us, these Yoshis? We'll show them who the real strategists are.
UK, arms folded, watched the valley calculatingly.
- Their cave is well protected, but they'll come out eventually. We just have to be patient.
Jay, always ready for a fight, said:
- We should attack now! The longer we wait, the more organized they'll get.
Illia, the most discreet, shook her head.
- No, we shouldn't. If we strike too soon, we'll hit a wall. We've got to push them over the edge.
Glitched, sitting on the sidelines, was tapping away on a strange device.
- I\'ve spotted a hidden path in the cliff. We could surprise them from behind.
Nommanic Folloreht, the strategist, smiled.
- Perfect. We'll wait until nightfall. They'll never see it coming.
Bill, ever the optimist, tried to lighten the mood.
- What if we win without fighting? We could challenge them to a race or a game!
UltraToad- burst out laughing.
- Are you serious? We're not here to have fun, Bill.
T, silent, watched the flames, lost in thought.
James, the youngest, clutched his slingshot, ready to prove his worth.
Roxas_971 stood up, imposing silence.
- Tonight, we watch. Tomorrow, we act. The Yoshis aren't ready for the Shy Guy Team.
In the shadows, the Shy Guys' determination was growing.
Their plan was taking shape, and the valley was about to tremble under their next blow
Chapter 3
After months of silence, the Yoshis were living almost as before, reassured by the absence of noise outside. Routine had settled in the cave, with everyone regaining confidence and gradually forgetting about the Shy Guy threat.
But outside, the Shy Guy Team was preparing its assault.
Roxas_971, standing on a stump, gave the signal:
- Now's the time. We attack from all sides: land, sky, water. No one must escape.
UK and Jay led the land squad, moving discreetly towards the main entrance.
Illia and Glitched, perched on gliders, melted away from the heights, ready to surprise the Yoshis from the sky.
Nommanic Folloreht and UltraToad were advancing along the river, ready to emerge through the flooded tunnel.
Bill, in his Cloud 9 kart, floated above the camp, launching Shy Guy reinforcements wherever resistance seemed strongest.
Inside the cave, Mark suddenly stopped.
- Can you hear it?
Silence. No sound. Then a muffled roar, muffled screams, the sound of spears striking stone.
- They're here! shouted Jassy.
The Yoshis understood too late. The Shy Guy had broken through the defense and invaded the entrance.
Soshi, with a quick gesture, pointed to the escape tunnel.
- This way! This way! We're going out through the trapdoor!
The Yoshis rushed through the secret passage, their hearts pounding. Behind them, the Shy Guys entered the cave, thinking they had finally won.
But outside, the Yoshis burst through the exit hole, ready to fight back and defend their freedom, while the Shy Guy Team explored a now-empty cave.
The war had changed its face.
Chapter 4
Dawn was just breaking over the valley, but the calm was gone.
The earth was marked by the scars of battle. Yoshis, covered in dust, were helping the wounded to their feet. Some, alas, would never rise again. The anonymous Shy Guys, too, were counting their losses. The ground was littered with broken masks and shattered eggs.
Chris, short of breath, looked around.
- We've lost a lot of our people... he murmured, his voice trembling.
Jassy clenched her fist, her eyes misty.
- We can't let them win. Not after all this.
In the distance, the Shy Guy Team was regrouping. Roxas_971, mask cracked, was gathering his troops.
- We're moving forward! We're not backing down now!
Bill, still retreating on his Cloud 9, watched the scene, indecipherable. He threw in a few Shy Guys as reinforcements, but his gaze seemed elsewhere, already torn between two worlds.
In the confusion, a brown Yoshi named Mercury tried to fend off a spear-wielding Shy Guy. They both fell, swept away by the violence of the fight.
Other Yoshis, led by Mark and Soshi, managed to open a gap to allow the survivors to escape into the forest.
At the center of the chaos, BlueCore and Totovideo fought side by side, repelling a wave of Shy Guy.
- We can't hold out much longer! shouted BlueCore.
- We've got to hold out for them! replied Totovideo, his gaze determined. The sun was slowly rising, revealing the extent of the carnage.
Silence fell again, heavy, punctuated only by the groans of the wounded and the distant sound of the Shy Guy retreating to heal their own wounds.
The war had reached a new stage.
No one would emerge from this conflict unscathed.
Chapter 5
Rain pounded the earth, turning the clearing into a field of mud and blood. Lightning flashes illuminated the silhouettes of the combatants, Yoshis and Shy Guys mingled in confusion. Totovideo, short of breath, had just repelled an assault. He staggered, covered in wounds, but refused to give in.
Suddenly, UltraToad- leapt in front of him, spear streaming. Without a word, he struck. The blade pierced Totovideo's stomach, causing him to cry out in pain. Before he could react, UltraToad- withdrew his spear and thrust it a second time, this time into his shoulder. Totovideo collapsed to his knees, his eyes clouded with pain.
UltraToad- took a few steps away, gasping for breath, then turned and said in a cold voice:
- You see? Death is going to take you, Yoshi. You weren't made to survive this war.
But with a burst of will, Totovideo crawled to the corpse of a fallen Shy Guy nearby. He grabbed a spear, straightened up and, gathering his last strength, ran towards UltraToad. The sound of the spear piercing the Shy Guys chest echoed through the storm. UltraToad- stopped dead in his tracks, eyes wide and life slowly draining from his gaze.
Totovideo, trembling, stared at him. UltraToad-, on his knees with a spear through his heart, whispered in a broken voice:
- You... have defeated me. Cursed little Yoshi...
He coughed, blood running down his mask.- If you can... give me a funeral. I don't want to be forgotten...
Then he collapsed, head bowed, definitively defeated by the war and by his own rediscovered humanity.
The rain redoubled, gradually erasing all traces of the battle. Totovideo, standing in the middle of the mud, staggered forward, his gaze lost. He had just left the world of innocence; the war had taken an enemy from him... and a lesson.
Thunder rumbled. Totovideo too collapsed, unconscious, as storm and night engulfed the valley.
Chapter 6
The forest was silent, disturbed only by the patter of rain on the leaves.
UK moved forward, fishing rod in hand, all senses on high alert.
Suddenly, a shadow leapt out in front of him: Silly had appeared, searching for Totovideo.
Their eyes met, and in the same reflex of fear and tension, they struck.
UK’s fishing rod pierced Silly’s side, while Silly’s improvised spear sank into UK’s shoulder.
They froze, panting, pain pinning them to the spot.
A heavy silence fell.
Silly, voice trembling but clear, murmured:
— Why… why are we doing this? We don’t even know each other…
UK, grimacing, gently pulled his fishing rod free, eyes locked on Silly.
— They told us to fight… But what’s the point, really?
He slowly removed the spear from his shoulder, careful not to make any sudden moves.
Silly did the same, withdrawing the weapon from UK’s side, then stepped back, breathing raggedly.
— I’m just looking for a friend… I didn’t mean to hurt you.
UK nodded, wiping the blood from his wound.
— Me neither. We could have killed each other for nothing.
They stared at each other for a long moment, both holding their weapons, but without hostility.
Silly, in a softer voice:
— Shall we stop…? For now.
UK put away his fishing rod, then replied:
— Yeah. We’ll stop. But next time… who knows.
A silent agreement passed between them.
They each stepped back, keeping an eye on the other, then disappeared into the forest, leaving behind the memory of a clash that could have been fatal, but had turned into an unexpected truce.
Chapter 7
The rain fell in tight curtains, turning the forest into a maze of mud and slippery branches.
Sillycringeh moved forward cautiously, eyes scanning every corner, calling out in a low but urgent voice:
— Toto… Totovideo, can you hear me? Please, answer me.
Rounding a fallen trunk, he finally spotted Totovideo — weakened, still bearing the marks of his battle.
Sillycringeh knelt beside him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder.
— I’ve been looking for you everywhere. How are you feeling?
Totovideo slowly opened his eyes, his voice hoarse:
— Toad… He’s dead, Silly… But before he left, he told me something. He wanted me to survive, to seek peace. That war makes no sense.
Sillycringeh nodded, his expression grave.
— We have to hold on, Toto. For those who have fallen, and for those who still have hope.
As they spoke, a shiver ran through the forest. Sillycringeh looked up at the sky. There, hidden among the dark clouds, three silhouettes stood out: Lakitus, motionless, watching them in silence.
— You see that? Sillycringeh murmured, his voice low. We’re being watched.
Totovideo turned his head, catching sight of the shifting shadows.
— Lakitus… But why? They’re not supposed to be here.
They exchanged a worried glance.
Unbeknownst to them, these Lakitus were not mere observers. Among them, Bill, hidden behind his mask, cast a knowing look toward his allies. His role as a traitor remained secret, but his influence was growing.
Sillycringeh stood, resolute.
— I’m staying with you, Totovideo. We’ll face this together.
The wind whistled through the trees, carrying their words away.
Above, the Lakitus drifted off, their intentions still unclear — but the threats they carried were heavy.
Chapter 8
In a clearing where the tension still lingered, Yoshi LOVER moved forward, ready for anything.
He spotted Roxas_971, a black coat draped over his shoulders, who stopped at a safe distance.
Yoshi LOVER, his gaze steady, called out:
— I’m not looking for a fight, but I won’t back down if you want one.
Roxas_971 studied the confident stance of the pink Yoshi, noting the determination in his eyes.
— You know how to defend yourself… I respect that. But why stay here, when the war is raging?
Yoshi LOVER replied, his tone serious:
— Because I’ve lost too many friends to the Shy Guys. I don’t want it to happen again. But I won’t let anyone decide for me who I am, or what I’m worth.
A silence fell, carrying a sense of mutual respect. Roxas_971 sheathed his Keyblade, realizing he was facing not just a worthy opponent, but also a potential ally.
— We could move forward together, he suggested. Just to see where this leads us.
Yoshi LOVER agreed, ready to face the dangers ahead, without ever lowering his guard.
Chapter 9
War allowed no respite. Every victory seemed to vanish as quickly as it came, replaced by a fresh loss; every night brought its share of threats and doubts. That evening, as silence weighed over the camp, a dull tension hung in the air, warning that everything could change in an instant.
Behind a makeshift barricade, Coshi peered into the darkness, uneasy.
— Do you think they’ll attack? he asked in a low voice, without taking his eyes off the treeline.
A rustle answered his question. Illia, a Shy Guy with a lithe silhouette, suddenly emerged, spear poised.
— You won’t take me that easily, Yoshi! she called, her voice firm.
Coshi tightened his grip on his weapon, muscles taut.
— I’m not afraid of you, Shy Guy. But you’d better back away while you still can.
Illia allowed herself a bitter smile despite the tension.
— I never back down. Not tonight.
Their eyes locked — full of defiance and exhaustion — as the shadow of war spread around them, ready to swallow even the bravest.
Chapter 10
The clash of weapons still echoed through the forest, but at the heart of the chaos, a circle of silence had formed around Coshi and Illia. The two opponents, panting, faced each other, sweat and exhaustion etched into their features.
Coshi, at the end of his strength, tried to keep his guard up, breath ragged.
— You… you won’t win, Illia. We Yoshis… we never give in.
Illia wiped the blood from her cheek, a cold smile on her lips.
— So this is the famous Yoshi resistance?
She spun her blade, suddenly quickening her movements, the weapon glinting in the flickering light. Coshi, drained, struggled to follow her, searching for an opening.
Suddenly, Illia leapt onto a tree, pushing off from a branch. She launched herself into the air, her figure slicing through the darkness. Coshi looked up, caught off guard by the speed of the attack.
— No…!
Illia twisted midair, dropping down on Coshi. In a flash, she drove her blade straight into the Yoshi’s head. Coshi collapsed without a cry, his gaze frozen in shock.
Not far away, Jalon was fighting bravely against other Shy Guys. He caught sight of the scene, and his cry tore through the night:
— COSHI! NOOO!
Coshi’s body fell to the ground, while Illia, panting, stood frozen for a moment, her gaze dark. Around them, the war continued to roar — but for Jalon, the world had just stopped.
Chapter 11
The sun was beginning to rise, casting a pale light over the still-smoldering battlefield. The air was thick with the scent of blood, upturned earth, and cries muffled by exhaustion.
Jalon ran, heart pounding, eyes fixed on Coshi’s collapsed figure. He fell to his knees beside his friend, throat tight with grief.
— Coshi… No… NO! he screamed, his voice breaking.
His hands trembled as he closed Coshi’s eyes, trying to believe this was just a nightmare. But reality was merciless. Lifting his head, his gaze darkened as he saw Illia standing there — breathless, her blade still stained with blood. Around them, the chaos seemed to have paused, as if the war itself was holding its breath.
Jalon rose slowly, rage surging in him like a wave. He stepped toward Illia, fists clenched, jaw tight.
— You killed him… You murdered Coshi! he shouted, his voice vibrating with hatred.
Illia, breathing hard, met Jalon’s eyes.
— I did what I had to do to survive. That’s war, Yoshi. You’d do the same in my place!
Jalon trembled, every muscle tense, ready to spring. But as he raised his arm, something stopped him. In Illia’s eyes, he didn’t see cruelty — he saw fear, weariness, the same exhaustion that was eating away at him too.
— You want to fight? Go ahead, avenge him! Illia challenged, her voice breaking, almost pleading.
Jalon stepped back, shaken.
— No… I won’t become like you. I won’t let hatred decide for me.
Illia lowered her head, her breath caught.
— You think that will change anything? In the end, we’ll all end up hating and killing each other…
Jalon turned his gaze away, tears streaming down his cheeks.
— Maybe… But I refuse to lose what’s left of my humanity. Even here. Even now.
A heavy silence fell. Around them, the fighting resumed, but Jalon stood still, refusing to give in to violence, while Illia, wounded, limped away, her eyes haunted by the scene.
This was the harsh truth of life on Yoshi’s Island: to survive, to lose, but still choose — despite everything — not to become a monster
Chapter 12
The tension in the Shy Guy camp was palpable.
Jay, scouting ahead, moved alone through the morning mist, his mind weighed down by the fatigue of recent battles.
Suddenly, a shadow passed overhead. He looked up — three Lakitus, armed with sharp swords, were descending from their clouds, silent and menacing.
Jay stepped back, wary.
— You… You’re not supposed to be here. What do you want?
The lead Lakitu sneered, raising his blade.
— For you, Shy Guy, the war is only just beginning. You’re going to be an example.
Before Jay could react, the Lakitus dove on him. Their swords struck relentlessly, piercing his cloth armor. Jay screamed, tried to fight back, but was quickly overwhelmed. His last glance was at the sky, as the rain began to fall.
Not far away, Nommanic Folloreht heard the screams. He rushed over and found the scene of horror — Jay lying on the ground, surrounded by the Lakitus.
— Jay! he cried, his voice breaking.
The Lakitu leader, recognizable by the black ribbon tied to his spear, turned toward him.
— Another witness? Perfect.
Nommanic tried to flee, but the Lakitu leapt forward, his poisoned spear plunging into the Shy Guy’s abdomen. The pain was searing, but Nommanic managed to shove his attacker away with an elbow and stagger off, breath ragged, the poison already spreading through his veins.
He ran, stumbling, through the forest. His vision blurred, his muscles stiffened. Suddenly, he spotted two figures ahead — Totovideo and SillyCringeh, keeping watch over the area.
— Hey… you… listen… Nommanic panted, nearly collapsing.
Totovideo turned, cautious.
— Who are you? What happened to you?
Nommanic, eyes wide, forced the words out:
— Lakitus… they… they killed Jay… they’re in the war… leader… spear… poison…
SillyCringeh stepped closer, worried.
— He’s in bad shape… We should help him!
But it was too late. The poison had already locked every muscle in Nommanic’s body. He froze upright, eyes vacant, mouth half-open on a final breath. Totovideo and SillyCringeh stepped back, stunned.
— He… he’s dead… but… he’s still standing… SillyCringeh murmured, chilled to the bone.
— We didn’t even know him… Totovideo added, his voice trembling. But his message had just changed everything.
In the distance, clouds gathered, and the Lakitu threat now loomed over every camp.
Chapter 13
Jassy hadn’t slept all night. The air was heavy, thick with that dull tension that comes before disaster. He scanned the horizon, hoping to see Coshi return with a joke on his lips, like always. But that morning, it was Jalon who approached — his face grim, eyes red.
Jassy felt his heart tighten.
— Jalon? What’s going on? Where’s Coshi?
Jalon stopped in front of him, unable to meet his gaze. He took a deep breath, his voice trembling.
— Coshi… he… he’s not coming back, Jassy.
Silence fell, sudden and brutal.
— What? No… No, that’s not possible, he was just supposed to watch the treeline! He’s coming back, right? He’s coming back…
Jalon shook his head, tears welling in his eyes.
— It was Illia… She fought him. The battle was… fierce. Coshi fought to the very end, but… she killed him.
Jassy stepped back, as if struck physically. His throat tightened, his eyes burned.
— No… not Coshi… not him…
He clenched his fists, anger and grief twisting in his chest.
Jalon placed a hand on his shoulder, his voice breaking.
— I’m sorry, Jassy. He died a hero. He stood his ground. He never gave up.
Jassy turned away, trying to hold back his tears.
— We won’t forget him. Never.
Chapter 14
The Yoshi camp was silent, weighed down by the news of Coshi’s death.
Jassy, still in shock, was keeping watch at the forest’s edge when the sound of hurried footsteps broke the stillness — Totovideo and SillyCringeh arrived, out of breath, dragging behind them the mask of an unfamiliar Shy Guy.
— Jassy! You need to come, quick! Totovideo called.
Jassy frowned.
— What now? Haven’t we got enough problems already?
SillyCringeh shook his head, panicked.
— It’s not the Shy Guys… It’s something else. We found a Shy Guy dead while standing, poisoned. He talked about Lakitus… They’re part of the war now.
A heavy silence settled over them. Jassy exchanged a worried look with Totovideo.
At that moment, a group of Shy Guys, led by UK, approached the camp, holding up a makeshift white flag.
— We want to talk, UK called out loudly. We know about the Lakitus. They’ve killed some of ours too.
Jassy stepped forward, wary.
— Why should we believe you? You’ve betrayed us enough times.
UK sighed, visibly exhausted.
— We don’t have a choice. If we keep fighting each other, we’re all going to die.
Totovideo stepped in, arms crossed.
— And what are you suggesting? An alliance?
An uneasy silence. UK nodded.
— A truce. Just long enough to figure out what the Lakitus want… and how to stop them.
Jassy hesitated, thinking of Coshi, of all they had lost.
— We don’t trust you. But we’re not stupid. We’ll agree… for now.
Then UK, his face drawn, stepped closer, his voice trembling.
— But… I have a request. Bring me Jay’s body… please.
The Yoshis present, along with a few others, exchanged uneasy glances. They brought back Jay’s mutilated body — his mask half-broken, his tunic torn. The gathering fell silent at the brutality of the sight.
UK dropped to his knees, devastated.
— He was… he was a close friend. His name was Jay. He never should have ended up like this…
SillyCringeh, suddenly struck by a memory, stepped forward softly.
— Jay… I remember him. He was always funny, kind… He once helped me when I was lost near the river.
He turned to UK, his voice trembling.
— He didn’t deserve this.
UK looked up, eyes red.
— Thank you for remembering him. We won’t forget.
Chapter 15
The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden light over the clearing. Roxas_971 and Yoshi LOVER walked side by side through the camp, calling Yoshis and Shy Guys alike — both well-known fighters and nameless survivors — to gather. Slowly, they all came together, forming a silent circle around the bodies of their fallen comrades.
Roxas_971 took a deep breath, met Yoshi LOVER’s eyes, then stepped into the center, his voice steady despite the emotion.
— Today, we are gathered not as enemies, but as survivors.
He swept his gaze across the group, stopping on each face marked by fatigue and grief.
— We’ve lost friends, brothers, sisters. Coshi, Jay, Nommanic, UltraToad… They are gone, but their memory lives within us.
A murmur passed through the group. Even the usually withdrawn ones listened in silence.
— This war has divided us, made us hate and fear one another. But now, a greater threat hangs over us all: the Lakitus. They make no distinction between a Yoshi and a Shy Guy.
Roxas clenched his fists.
— We have a choice. Keep tearing each other apart… or stand together, at least to survive. To honor those who fell, to protect those who remain.
He paused, searching for the right words.
— I’m not asking you to forget the past. I’m asking you to believe, even for a moment, that we can write another ending to this story. One where no one else dies for nothing.
Yoshi LOVER stepped forward beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder in support.
— We’re ready to move forward together, he said softly. For Coshi, for Jay, for all the others.
Silence fell again, then one by one, Yoshis and Shy Guys nodded — some wiping away tears, others raising a fist in determination.
For the first time since the war began, hope seemed possible.
Roxas_971 moved to the center of the circle again, his gaze firm, and raised his voice so all could hear, Yoshis and Shy Guys alike:
— We are Shy Guys. I admit we’ve made you live in fear and suffering… But we too have spent years isolated, rejected, forced to survive alone.
He swept his eyes over the gathering, his voice charged with emotion.
— I’ve spoken with some of you, and you all want the same thing: to end this war. So…
He raised his arm high.
— Raise your hand if you want to follow me!
A heavy silence fell. No one moved. The Yoshis exchanged uncertain glances, then, as one, they raised their hands. Slowly, the Shy Guys did the same, one after another, until every arm was raised — Yoshi and Shy Guy alike — a show of will to end the conflict and destroy the Lakitus to restore peace.
But high in the sky, far from the gathering, Bill — a Shy Guy absent from the meeting — watched the scene from his cloud. He chuckled, pulled out a small radio, and murmured:
— They think they’ll win the war…
He pressed the transmit button and relayed the location of all the survivors to the Lakitu leader.
Chapter 16
The camp was buzzing since the fragile truce had been announced. Yoshis and Shy Guys, still wary of each other, tried to put together a common strategy against the growing threat of the Lakitus. Then, a mint-green cloud cut through the sky, drawing everyone’s gaze.
Bill, perched on his “Cloud 9” kart, descended slowly, an enigmatic smile on his face. The Shy Guys froze at the sight of him, murmuring among themselves.
— That’s him… Bill, the Shy Guy.
— Always weird, with his strange antics…
— Never really like the others.
Bill cast a piercing look over the assembly, amused by their whispers.
— Oh, there you all are. What a charming little gathering, he said mockingly.
He spun a shell in his hand before tossing it into the air.
UK stepped forward, his face hard.
— Bill, we know who you really are. You’re playing both sides, and we’re getting tired of it.
Bill burst out laughing — a sharp, unsettling sound.
— Me, boring? Never. I’m just here for the show. And to see who really survives this war.
Yoshi LOVER clenched his fists.
— You’re neither with us nor with them. So why don’t you just leave?
Bill shrugged, a mischievous glint in his eye.
— Because I’m above all this. I play for myself, not for any side. And I fully intend to enjoy the chaos.
A tense silence followed. Everyone knew Bill was an unpredictable threat, capable of turning the tide at any moment.
Roxas_971 stepped forward, calming the others.
— Whatever Bill does, we need to stay united. The real battle starts now.
Bill climbed back onto his kart, ready to take off.
— See you soon, then. And remember… in this war, no one is ever truly safe.
The green cloud rose into the sky, leaving behind a heavy air of suspicion and uncertainty.
Chapter 17
The tension was at its peak. The survivors, Yoshis and Shy Guys alike, had gathered in the clearing, breathing heavily, their eyes darting nervously. In the distance, purple clouds piled up, heralding the coming storm. A heavy silence hung in the air, broken only by the groans of the wounded and the hushed whispers of fear.
Suddenly, a low rumble echoed. Lakitus, perched on their poisonous clouds, began to encircle the area. The Lakitu leader had not yet given the order to attack, but the threat was tangible: toxic mist was already creeping through the trees, biting at throats and stinging eyes.
SillyCringeh, his gaze determined, took the lead of the survivors.
— We can’t stay here! We have to run, all of us, together! Follow me!
BlueCore, loyal and brave, took position at the rear.
— I’ll cover the retreat! No one gets left behind!
The group dashed into the forest, running for their lives. The Lakitus, sensing panic, hurled the first poisoned spears. SillyCringeh and BlueCore slowed down to protect the weakest, fending off the attackers with everything they had.
Totovideo stumbled, but Jassy caught him just in time.
— Hang in there, Toto! We’re going to make it!
Screams echoed, fear spread like wildfire. But at the rear, SillyCringeh and BlueCore held their ground, fighting back to back, united in effort and bravery. Spears flew, clouds swooped low, but neither of them gave up an inch.
Panting, SillyCringeh called to BlueCore:
— We’re not letting them through. Not as long as we’re still standing!
BlueCore, breathless, managed a sad smile.
— We make one hell of a team, huh?
But the purple mist was growing thicker. A spear struck SillyCringeh in the shoulder, another pierced BlueCore’s side. The venom, swift and merciless, began to paralyze them. Their movements slowed, their strength fading.
And yet, they stayed on their feet, back to back, defying death. Their muscles stiffened, frozen by the poison, but neither fell. They stood there, locked in a final act of courage, like two statues guarding their friends.
The fleeing survivors looked back one last time. They saw SillyCringeh and BlueCore, motionless, bound together by battle and loyalty, forming a final wall against the enemy.
From high above on his cloud, the Lakitu leader watched the scene with a cruel smile. He raised his spear, ready to give the fatal order:
— TO WAR!
But in everyone’s hearts, the sacrifice of SillyCringeh and BlueCore had just proven that even in the face of hell, courage could still shine.
Chapter 18
The battle had left deep scars on all the survivors. Among them, Soshi moved forward with difficulty, his leg wounded by a Lakitu’s poisoned spear. The pain was dull, but what terrified him most was the poison slowly seeping into his veins—an invisible, relentless enemy.
Sitting beneath a tree, Soshi clenched his teeth, trying to calm the tremors shaking his body. Totovideo approached, concern etched on his face.
— Soshi, how are you feeling? You need to rest, or the poison will win.
Soshi shook his head, a faint smile on his lips.
— I can’t give up now. Not after everything we’ve been through. I’ll hold on.
He placed a hand on his leg, feeling the heat rising, but refused to give in to fear.
Hours passed, then days. Soshi kept moving with the group, despite the fatigue and the pain. Each step was a battle, each breath a challenge. But his will was stronger than the venom.
Jassy, who had been watching over him, noticed one morning that Soshi seemed more lucid, more determined.
— You’re incredible, Soshi. It’s been more than a day you’ve been fighting this poison.
Soshi smiled weakly.
— One day, eight hours, and forty-five minutes… I don’t know how much time I have left, but I want you to know I’m fighting for all of you. For this war to end.
The group, moved by his determination, redoubled their efforts to find a cure, a solution. But for now, Soshi remained a living symbol of resistance—a beacon of hope in the midst of darkness.
And even as the poison gained ground, his spirit remained unbreakable.
Chapter 19
Night wrapped the clearing in a heavy shroud, thick with tension and exhaustion. Soshi, lying against a tree, was still fighting the poison that was slowly spreading through his body. Around him, the group had gathered, each one trying to hide their fear behind small, gentle gestures.
Totovideo knelt at his side, his throat tight.
— Soshi… Do you want me to stay? I can tell you a story if it helps you hold on.
Soshi gave a faint but sincere smile.
— Thank you, Toto… But I think I’ve traveled enough for tonight.
Jassy, sitting beside him, held his hand, his eyes glistening with tears.
— You’ve been incredible, Soshi. No one else would have lasted this long.
A little further away, Chris and Mark, silent, kept watch over the younger anonymous ones, exchanging a worried glance.
— We have to stay strong, Chris murmured. For him, for everyone we’ve lost.
T, usually quiet, stepped forward and placed a hand on Soshi’s shoulder.
— I promise you we won’t let the Lakitus win.
At the edge of the clearing, Yoshi LOVER scanned the horizon. Suddenly, he froze, eyes wide.
— Lakitus! They’re coming! Get ready!
Roxas_971 straightened, his gaze hard, and stepped toward the group.
— Everyone, in formation! We won’t let them catch us off guard!
Illia, injured but still standing, took her place beside UK, who clenched his jaw, ready to fight despite the fear.
— We’ll hold the line, she said gravely. For Soshi, for everyone else.
Bill, standing back, observed the scene with an unreadable smile, his intentions as opaque as ever.
The violet clouds descended over the clearing with a low rumble. The Lakitus hurled their poisoned spears, the toxic mist already creeping through the trees. Chaos erupted.
Totovideo shouted:
— Jassy, left side! Roxas, cover us!
Chris and Mark guided the anonymous survivors toward a makeshift shelter, while T held the front line, ready to repel the first attackers.
— Hold the line! Yoshi LOVER cried, rallying everyone to him.
Illia, UK, and the others fought back as best they could, throwing stones and branches, refusing to yield.
Soshi, in one final breath, looked at his friends fighting. He whispered:
— Thank you… for being there.
His breathing stopped, and a devastating silence swept through the group—but their grief and rage transformed into strength.
— For Soshi! Roxas_971 shouted, launching the counterattack.
The survivors—Yoshi LOVER, T, Chris, Mark, UK, Illia, Roxas_971, Jassy, Totovideo, Bill, and the anonymous ones—stood together. Shouts, warnings, and names flew across the battlefield:
— Mark, watch out!
— Chris, protect the little ones!
— T, with me!
— Illia, UK, hold the right!
— Yoshi LOVER, gather the anonymous ones!
— Jassy, Totovideo, take cover!
Even Bill, for a brief instant, seemed captivated by this desperate resistance.
The battle raged beneath the poisoned clouds. But that night, every name mattered, every voice carried, and Soshi’s memory guided them all through the storm.
Chapter 20
The Lakitus swooped down on the clearing, their spears whistling through the night. The survivors, cornered, fought with the energy of desperation. Screams, orders, the clash of blades, and the hiss of projectiles mixed with the violet haze.
Chris, always at the front, shielded the anonymous ones. He shoved back a Lakitu with a staff strike, but a poisoned spear pierced straight into his chest. He staggered, searching for his friends’ eyes.
— Mark… Jassy… Protect them… he breathed before collapsing, the air driven from his lungs.
Mark roared, rage flooding his veins, and rushed to cover the retreat. Totovideo, shaken, tried to drag Chris back, but realized it was already too late.
On the other side, Yoshi LOVER was urging the anonymous survivors toward the forest.
— This way! Don’t stop! We’ll make it!
But a Lakitu dropped down above him, hurling his spear. Yoshi LOVER dodged the first strike, but the second pierced his flank. He fell to his knees, gasping for breath.
— Hold on… Don’t let fear win… he murmured before collapsing as well.
Jassy, tears welling in her eyes, cried out:
— Yoshi LOVER! No!
Roxas_971, seeing his friends fall, felt fury surge through him. He stood tall, unleashing a war cry that ignited the survivors.
— For Chris! For Yoshi LOVER! We don’t back down!
Illia loosed a volley of arrows, covering the flight of the anonymous ones. T, UK, and Mark formed a wall around the weakest, while Totovideo, Jassy, and Roxas_971 struck back with everything they had.
The battle raged—fierce and merciless. Losses were heavy, yet the survivors’ determination never wavered. Even Bill, hidden in the shadows, watched this courage with a newfound interest.
When dawn finally broke, the clearing was strewn with bodies, but those still standing knew they owed their survival to the sacrifice of Chris and Yoshi LOVER. Silence fell again—heavy with grief, and with promises yet to be kept.
Chapter 21
After the fall of Chris and Yoshi LOVER, the clearing had become a chaotic battlefield. The survivors, exhausted and dwindling in number, quickly realized they could no longer hold out against the Lakitus’ superior numbers. Roxas_971 gathered the last of them, his voice grave:
— We can’t keep this up. They’re too many, too strong… We have to retreat, regroup, and prepare our revenge.
The group, hearts heavy, set off in silence under the cover of the trees. Behind them, the Lakitus watched, their violet clouds drifting lazily.
Perched atop his cloud, the Lakitu leader burst into mocking laughter as he saw the survivors retreat. In a sarcastic tone, he called out to his subordinates:
— They flee like cowards. Do they think they can escape us? Ridiculous.
With a dismissive wave, he ordered his troops not to pursue.
— Let them go. They’re not worth the effort. The war is already won.
In the shadows, Bill allowed a mysterious smile to curl across his lips, watching the scene with a newfound interest, ready to play his own card in this conflict.
The group of survivors, wounded in both soul and ranks, knew this retreat was only a new beginning. The war was far from over, and their fight, from now on, would be more strategic—more determined—than ever before.
Chapter 22
The survivors, shattered by the loss of Chris and Yoshi LOVER, found refuge in a small cave hidden beneath the roots of a giant tree. The air was heavy: some wept in silence, others sat motionless, unable to find the words. Mark, Totovideo, Jassy, Roxas_971, T, Illia, and the anonymous ones huddled close together, trying to draw a little warmth from one another in this moment of despair.
Off to the side, UK stared into the void. He felt the weight of an invisible curse pressing on his shoulders.
— Why… why is it always me who’s left? Why does everyone I care about fall around me? he murmured, his voice broken.
Mark approached, trying to comfort him, but UK stepped back, shaking his head.
UK said:
— No… Don’t come closer. I’m sure I’m next. This war has taken everything from me.
He walked away from the group, vanishing into the darkness of the forest, lost in his grim thoughts. Then, from behind, a figure emerged—Bill, eyes cold, a blade in hand. Without a word, he drove the weapon deep into UK’s leg with a swift, sharp thrust.
UK collapsed, a cry of pain tearing from his throat. But in a sudden burst of rage, he grabbed Bill by the neck, pulling him in, and smashed his forehead against him. The impact was so violent that both men fell to the ground, knocked unconscious, lying side by side beneath the pale light filtering through the trees.
Back in the cave, the others had seen nothing. But outside, fate had just added another chapter to the long list of the war’s tragedies.
Chapter 23
When UK regained consciousness, the pain in his leg was sharp, but the forest was strangely silent. Bill, still unconscious beside him, was breathing faintly. UK tried to sit up, grimacing, and crawled with difficulty toward a tree to lean against it.
In the distance, he heard voices—Mark and Totovideo, worried, had left the cave to look for him.
— UK! Where did you go? shouted Mark, his voice trembling.
Totovideo, more cautious, scanned the shadows, ready to draw his Fire Flower.
UK pushed against his injured leg and managed to answer, his voice hoarse:
— Here… I’m here…
The two friends rushed over, finding the scene: Bill on the ground, UK bleeding but alive.
— What happened? cried Totovideo.
UK looked away, still in shock.
— Bill… he attacked me. But I didn’t let him get away with it.
Mark placed a hand on his shoulder, his tone full of concern.
— We’ll get you back to the cave. We’ll take care of that wound.
As they helped UK to his feet, Jassy and Illia, alerted by the noise, arrived as well. Illia, serious, studied Bill, still lying unconscious.
Roxas_971, who had stayed at the cave entrance to keep watch, scanned the surroundings, ready to raise the alarm at the slightest sign of the Lakitus. He said:
— What do we do with him? We can’t just leave him here—he’s dangerous.
The group, closer than ever despite the fear and the pain, brought UK back to safety. Totovideo tried to lighten the mood with an awkward joke, but no one really laughed. Everyone knew the night would be long, and that Bill’s betrayal had cast a new shadow over what remained of the group.
In the darkness, UK clenched his teeth, determined not to be brought down again. Around him, his friends kept watch, fully aware that survival now depended on their unity—and their caution toward those, like Bill, who might still strike from the shadows.
Chapter 24
Night had fallen over the forest, but the tension remained palpable. Bill still lay unconscious, securely bound by the survivors. UK, his leg bandaged, watched the scene with a dark gaze. Mark, Totovideo, Jassy, Roxas_971, T, Illia, and the Anons sat around the fire, each weighing the burden of the decisions ahead.
Mark broke the silence:
— We can’t trust him anymore. He’s already betrayed us—he’ll do it again.
Illia, cold and determined, nodded.
— He has no place among us. If he wakes up, he’ll kill us all.
Roxas_971 spoke up, his voice low and grave:
— We have no choice. For the safety of the group… we have to end this.
A heavy silence fell. Totovideo looked away, uneasy, but no one protested. Jassy stepped toward Bill, her expression hardened by war.
— We don’t do this with joy in our hearts. But he’s chosen his side.
Together, they ended the threat Bill posed—no shouting, no spectacle. Just a cold, necessary act, dictated by survival.
The tension didn’t lift right away. UK, still shaken by the attack, stayed apart, lost in thought. But life had to go on. The Anons tended to wounds, gathered what could still be used, and prepared the group for what lay ahead.
At dawn, as the mist rose, a cry drew Roxas_971’s attention:
— Over there! Survivors!
At the forest’s edge, a small group of Yoshis and Shy Guys, injured and haggard, waited, searching for refuge. Mark and T ran to meet them, helping the weakest to walk, while Totovideo used his Fire Flower to warm those shivering from the cold.
Seeing this, Jassy suggested:
— We have to unite. Alone, we don’t stand a chance. Together, we can survive.
Their eyes met. Old grudges faded before the urgency of the moment.
— Alright, said a wounded Shy Guy, his voice trembling. We have no choice anymore.
A fragile yet sincere alliance was formed then, sealed by pain and hope. The Yoshis and Shy Guys, once enemies, shared water, care, and supplies, tending to their wounds and fears.
Mark gathered everyone together and declared:
— Tonight, we’re no longer enemies. We’re an army. Tomorrow, we take the fight back.
The night was short, but for the first time in a long while, a spark of hope lit their eyes. At dawn, the war would truly begin.
Chapter 25
The night was still deep, the camp shrouded in a heavy silence. UK sat apart from the others, staring at the blade he held, his hand trembling against his chest. His gaze was empty, lost in the abyss of loneliness and grief.
He closed his eyes, searching for the courage to end the pain. But behind him, a familiar voice broke the silence:
— UK… What are you doing?
Totovideo approached quietly, without judgment, his voice carrying only genuine concern.
UK turned his head away, ashamed.
— I… I can’t take it anymore, Toto. I see them all falling, one by one. Chris, Yoshi LOVER, Soshi… Even Bill, tonight. I feel like I’m the one carrying the curse.
Totovideo sat beside him, eyes fixed on the starry sky.
— You know… I often think about UltraToad-. He used to be my enemy. But in this war, we fought side by side. He became my comrade-in-arms.
He paused, his voice turning more solemn.
— I don’t think UltraToad- would ever have wanted me to give up. And I don’t think he’d want you to leave like this, either.
UK felt the tears welling up, his voice cracking.
— I don’t want to see my friends die anymore… Tonight, Bill came to me in my dreams. He told me to join him. Said everything would be easier if I followed him.
Totovideo placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
— Bill’s gone, UK. But we’re still here. And as long as we’re alive, we’ll fight for those we’ve lost. You’re not alone, even if the night tries to make you believe it.
UK broke down, finally letting all the pent-up pain spill out. Totovideo stayed by his side, silent, making sure he didn’t slip into the darkness.
In the distance, dawn began to break—promising another fight, but also a chance at redemption.
Chapter 26
The group moved slowly across the devastated plain, silence weighing on every step. The gray dawn gradually revealed the traces of battle—broken weapons, clouds of dust, and here and there, the still forms of their fallen comrades.
Mark stopped abruptly, his breath catching.
— Look… over there.
Everyone froze at the sight before them: the bodies of their friends, some already unrecognizable, others barely touched by time. Totovideo stood motionless, his eyes fixed on one figure in particular.
It was UltraToad-. His corpse, still kneeling, had long since become a skeleton. Despite the dirt, the mud, and the scars of war, it had remained almost intact—frozen in a final act of defiance. The bones, whitened by time, still held the posture of a fighter who had never bowed.
Totovideo stepped forward, his throat tightening.
— He never gave in… Even death couldn’t bring him down.
A respectful silence fell. UK, moved by the sight, felt the words from the previous night echo within him.
— He stood his ground until the very end. That’s what real courage is.
The group lingered there for a while, facing this symbol of resilience. Then, slowly, they resumed their march, carrying with them the memory of UltraToad—an enemy turned brother, a warrior who never yielded, even before the inevitable.
The march continued, but everyone knew that this kneeling skeleton, preserved through time, would stand as a landmark in their own fight: never fall, no matter what.
Totovideo knelt before UltraToad-’s remains, his gaze clouded with sorrow and respect. He placed a trembling hand on the spear lodged in the ribcage, at the point where the blow had almost shattered everything. In solemn silence, he slowly pulled the weapon free and, with infinite care, laid the skeleton gently on the ground, restoring to his former rival the dignity of a deserved rest.
In a low, sincere voice, he whispered:
— Rest in peace, UltraToad-. You held on until the very end.
Around him, the group stayed quiet, moved by the gesture. Totovideo rose, holding the spear like a symbol, and rejoined the others, ready to move forward—with the memory of his comrade forever engraved in his heart.
Chapter 27
The path wound through a silent moor, bathed in pale light. The survivors advanced slowly, each step echoing like a whisper from the past. Suddenly, around a bend in the trees, they stumbled upon a striking sight: two skeletons, perfectly preserved, sitting side by side against an old tree trunk. SillyCringeh and BlueCore—recognizable by the remnants of their gear and by the peaceful posture of their eternal rest.
Totovideo froze, his throat tightening.
— They stayed together… until the very end.
Mark stepped closer, studying the two skeletons. No signs of struggle, no traces of violence. Just the strange peace of those who had accepted their fate hand in hand. Moved, Jassy knelt and picked a wildflower, placing it gently between them.
Roxas_971, usually so unshakable, murmured:
— It’s like they chose their way of leaving. Together, without fear.
A heavy silence settled over the group. Illia, her voice deep and steady, added:
— Maybe death isn’t the end. Maybe what matters is how we face the inevitable… and who we face it with.
Totovideo, eyes glistening, knelt beside the two skeletons.
— They never let go of each other. Even at the end, they stood united.
A quiet, philosophical mood spread through the group. The sight of SillyCringeh and BlueCore, peaceful in death, echoed their own fears and hopes.
Death, Mark thought, is not always failure or defeat. Sometimes, it’s the ultimate loyalty—a choice to remain yourself, and to refuse to yield to fear or loneliness.
For UK, still haunted by dark thoughts, the scene brought an unexpected calm.
— Maybe we don’t always choose our ending… but we can choose not to face it alone.
The group remained there for a long while, reflecting on the strength of the bond that unites both the living and the dead. Then, slowly, they resumed their march, each carrying within them the silent lesson of SillyCringeh and BlueCore:
In the face of death, what endures is friendship… and the courage never to abandon one another.
This moment marked a turning point in their journey. Now they knew that even in the darkest night, loyalty and solidarity could give meaning to the trial—and transform the end into an act of resistance and humanity.
And so, they set their sights toward the battlefield…
Chapter 28
Under the cold light of morning, the battlefield throbbed with screams, blades, and flashes of light. The survivors were scattered, each fighting for their life, for their fallen brothers, for the honor of their camp.
Jassy, breath ragged, found himself surrounded by a swarm of Lakitus. He clenched his jaw, raised his weapon, and with a cry of defiance, hurled himself into the heart of the enemy.
— You shall not pass! he shouted.
The Lakitus dove toward him, lances aimed. Jassy parried, dodged, countered, striking with desperate fury. But they were too many. One, two, three blows struck him, then more: he was pierced in the shoulder, the side, the chest. Twenty-six lances ran through him, yet he held his ground, fighting until the very last moment, cutting down his attackers in one final heroic surge.
Totovideo, witnessing the scene, cried out:
— Jassy! Hold on!
Jassy, eyes burning, drove his blade into the last Lakitu within reach, then collapsed to his knees, blood spilling onto the earth.
— For Yoshi’s Island… and for all of you… he whispered, before falling, his face serene.
Not far away, UK, badly wounded in the shoulder, was forced back under the pressure. An enemy Shy Guy had struck him deep, but he refused to fall.
— I can’t… not now… not after all this!
He fought in retreat, covering the nameless survivors, his hand clamped over his wound, teeth gritted. Mark reached him, shouting:
— UK, fall back! We won’t let you go down!
At the center of the battlefield, Roxas—already scarred by the loss of his Shy Guy brothers—felt rage and grief flood through him. Around him, Shy Guys fell one after another, and every cry, every sacrifice, echoed in his heart.
— No… not again… I won’t let anyone else die!
A new energy surged within him. His Persona, awakened by despair, appeared in a blinding light. Roxas felt the fusion—his body and his Persona became one. His golden wings unfurled, the light transforming him: he entered Heaven Form.
The Lakitu leader, seeing this transformation, stepped back, terrified.
— What have you become? This… this is impossible!
Roxas, now able to glide, hurled his weapon across the field.
— I am the light of all those who have fallen. I am the anger, the sorrow, and the hope of my Shy Guy brothers!
He teleported to his weapon, striking the Lakitu leader with full force. The fight became titanic: black lightning against celestial light, each blow shaking the ground. Roxas endured, countered, drawing strength from every fallen Shy Guy.
— You cannot win, Lakitu! As long as I carry their memory, you will never extinguish this light!
The Lakitu leader, cornered, launched one final attack. But Roxas, fused with his Persona, blocked the assault and, in a final flash, struck down his foe.
All around, the survivors—exhausted—watched the scene, knowing they had witnessed a battle where light had triumphed over shadow, but at a terrible cost.
Mark, kneeling beside Jassy’s body, murmured:
— We’ll never forget you, brother.
UK, supported by Totovideo, looked up at Roxas, the light of hope rekindling in his eyes.
Victory was theirs, but they all knew nothing would ever be the same again.
Chapter 29
Totovideo and Illia found themselves face to face with the Lakitu chief’s two lieutenants, while Roxas battled the chief himself in a titanic duel. The battle raged with rare ferocity—lightning, screams, and dust filling the air.
The Lakitu chief’s lieutenants were formidable: one wielded a spiked mace, the other an electrified chain. Totovideo, armed with UltraToad-’s lance, narrowly dodged the crushing blows, counterattacking with swift precision.
— Illia, to your left! he shouted as the chain whistled through the air.
Illia, already wounded in the arm, barely blocked the chain, then drove his sword into his opponent’s armor.
— I’m holding! We can’t let them through!
A violent strike sent Totovideo sprawling to the ground, but he pushed himself up, panting, his face streaked with sweat and blood.
— We will not fall today! For our friends!
The two fought back to back, taking wounds upon wounds, but refusing to give ground. Every strike, every parry was an act of defiance: they knew that holding the Lakitu chief’s lieutenants at bay meant giving Roxas the time he needed to defeat the chief.
In the distance, they caught glimpses of Roxas, wounded several times, fighting with supernatural fury. Driven by the pain of losing his Shy Guy brothers, he felt his Persona awaken, fusing with him, his light growing brighter with every passing moment.
Despite the pain, Totovideo and Illia held their ground, sustained by the certainty that their fight—no matter the cost—was vital to final victory. The Lakitu chief’s lieutenants, stunned by their relentless resistance, began to falter.
— They… they won’t back down! one of them gasped in disbelief.
Illia, breathing hard, cast a glance at Totovideo.
— We hold, brother. To the end.
With a sudden surge, they drove their blades into the Lakitu chief’s lieutenants, ending their reign in a single, decisive strike.
Amid the chaos, their courage and solidarity became a wall—a final bulwark before the ultimate clash between Roxas’s light and the Lakitu chief’s shadow.
Chapter 30
The battle had reached its climax. The Lakitu chief, perched on his cloud, hurled furious bolts of lightning, but the survivors’ resolve did not waver. Totovideo, Mark, UK, T, and Roxas regrouped—wounded, yet unyielding. Illia, on her knees and short of breath, watched the scene unfold, her strength fading, yet refusing to turn her eyes from the decisive fight.
Suddenly, T—usually quiet—found within himself an unexpected surge of strength. He raised his spear, aimed at the Lakitu chief’s cloud, and with a cry of rage hurled it with all his might:
— For all who have fallen!
The spear pierced through the cloud, which erupted in a deafening flash. The Lakitu chief, thrown off balance, fell heavily to the ground, stunned. Roxas seized the opening, charging forward and delivering a blow of staggering force that sent the chief rolling across the scarred earth.
Panting, Roxas straightened and shouted in a strong voice, rallying his allies around the fallen chief:
— On three! ONE… TWO… THREE!
In perfect unison, Totovideo, Mark, UK, T, and Roxas drove their spears and swords into the Lakitu chief, united in the same strike, the light of victory blazing in their eyes.
The Lakitu chief, pinned to the ground with a blade lodged in his head, opened his eyes one last time. His breath was ragged, yet he found the strength to speak—slowly, his voice deep and steady:
— You think you’ve won… But look around you… all this blood, all these broken lives… War… has never brought anything but suffering… I led my troops out of pride, out of fear of being forgotten… and now here I am, alone, surrounded by ruins… Perhaps… the light triumphs today… but never forget the price of hatred… This new world… it must be built on something other than vengeance…
His gaze drifted into emptiness, and a solemn silence fell over the battlefield.
Illia, lying on the ground, too weak to speak, managed a faint smile at the sight of her friends standing victorious. She had just enough strength to whisper to herself:
— I have seen… the end… and the beginning of a new world…
Her eyes fixed on the first light of dawn, and she passed away peacefully—a witness to the change she had so long hoped for.
The survivors, marked by the Lakitu chief’s words and Illia’s sacrifice, understood then that true victory would only be complete if they could give meaning to everything they had just endured.
