A giant improvement over the original at least in terms of gameplay. The perfect consistent width, turns flow well (apart from the sun section), boost panels in good spots. Now, the visuals I have fairly mixed opinions on. To start, decor is used extremely well. Although. Some of the road isn't very detailed compared to the old track. The actual Rainbow Road though? Beautiful. So while not as thoroughly detailed, I still love the pixel art style, it definitely has its charm. Overall, this is a big improvent. 5/5.
