Okay I played through 4 of the 10 Cups and Ran into A Few Issues that isn't just the "Modern Look."

1st. The Checkpoints are Terribly Placed. It Hit Me with a Stupid Blue Shell even though I was in 3RD PLACE!

2nd. The CPUs Take Every Single Shortcut and somehow they never seem to run out of Mushrooms. And I can't even take a Single Shortcut! Tell Me that isn't Fair. They have Way too many Advantages, making the Game Harder than it could've been.

3rd. Some of the Jumps are Too Short or Too High. An Example is the First Jump in Riverside Park. It is too short and If you don't get enough speed you fall off.

Please fix these Issues. I will at least give it a 4/5 if You fix those Issues. This isn't Terrible. It's just Good.

Don't worry. A Better version of this is in development. Named Mario Kart DS Remastered. It has Perfect Checkpoints and the CPU's don't take as Many Shortcuts.

It's not just Sky Garden that's Bad. It's the Build of the Courses. The Drawings are good. But they are poorly Built. I can Hop Out of Bounds and They use the Now Outdated Teleporters feature to go through Tunnels.

I really like the Way you reimagined it. But what stops me from giving it a 5/5 is Sky Garden because that is My Favorite Retro Track in the Game and seeing it in the 8DX and Tour Style makes me upset so that's why I gave it a 4/5. But I do like the rest of the Tracks here.
