Can someone help me with special cup ds? (mkpc's grand prix mode)

i've been having a lot of trouble with this cup due to certain cpu's throwing red shells backwards to hit me and blue shells hitting me (in second place) instead of the person in first place.
also the cpus are being faster than a mushroom without using items and in general driving me crazy.
especially in bowser castle ds and rainbow road ds.
(WHY AND HOW ARE THE CPUS DOING PERFECT TURNS AND GOING THROUGH THAT SINGLE SHORTCUT WITHOUT ITEMS)
I thought it was unfair too but just practice the turns and try practicing snaking and you can get 1st on every cup like me!also the cpus are being faster than a mushroom without using items and in general driving me crazy.
