SBOK7 Digital Dream
- Vs. Corrupted Link Description -
After a long, long quest of searching Bob-Omb Galaxy for Link, it turns out he was here of all places, presumably brought into this virtual realm by one of Gold Mario's portals during the Golden Laboratory massacre. However... he's not his normal self. Blue colouring, and acting like an entirely different, aggressive person... all signs point to him having succumbed to the Digital Dream. The Digital Dream is a phenomenon outsiders may experience when being in the presence of Digispace's energy for too long. During their research, some of Golden Laboratory's workers fell victim to it, but this was easily fixed, as being in the presence of those who see you as you are - the ones you appreciate - will cure the condition. When somebody drifts off into the Digital Dream, they begin to act based on a persona conjured up by Digispace itself. Their reality will start to reflect that person they've become - and yet, deep inside, they know this isn't them. It is a depressing fate, and a large reason why Golden Laboratory's project had even been considered - a robot, even if just that, would still keep somebody company and see the real person inside, thus preventing them from falling too deep into this slumber. However... this is besides the point! Link fell into the Digital Dream? The entire Galaxy's fate rests on him, and now he's...
With an echo of hostility, he forcibly challenges you to a race. Adding insult to injury, the distortions have made it impossible for you to use items. It's going to be a tough one, and who knows what could happen if you fail. After all, the sword that can destroy Gold Mario - the Aureate Blade - could very much destroy a person.
- After Beating Vs. Corrupted Link -
Against all odds, the race is won, and it seems Link is coming back to his senses after such a passionate battle. With him out of his "state", it's time to skedaddle back to Rick's Factory and regroup.
Once there, it's decided: Gold Mario needs to be taken out as soon as possible now that Link is back. Rick goes to check Gold Mario's location using a tracker put inside of the yellow robot. Everybody ponders where he could be, but the silence is inevitably broken by Rick's words.
"He's gone into space. Oh... Oh God no. He's invading the Rainbow Road. Someone save us..."
The Rainbow Road holds the very fabric of Bob-Omb Galaxy together, and connects it with every other Galaxy, Kingdom, Land, World, and essentially all other worlds of this universe. Gold Mario has the power to completely destroy it.
There's no time to waste - he needs to be found and defeated for good.
If he's in the Rainbow Road, then the best way to get there would be to head to Bowser's Castle, which contains a teleporter originally created during the time of the Galactic Gunboats raid. Best head there briskly!
