The track is test to see how the checkpoints work in complete mode; each line is a CP (the red one is the finish line).
And I tested that once you hit a checkpoint, to count the lap you must hit (in order) the CPs you haven't hit already, if you cross other checkpoints it doesn't matter.

To oversimplify: You must go to the roundabout turn around and go to the base of the triangle, then turn around again and go to the finish line, and the lap will count!
